This version is directed by Stephan Elliott, written by Elliott and Sheridan Jobbins, and stars Jessica Biel, Ben Barnes, Colin Firth and Kristin Scott Thomas. Patience is a virtue? Why? Who ever got ahead of the game by waiting? What's so virtuous about letting time slip by? "Patience is a virtue," is another one of those sayings of everyday wisdom. Let's explore why.Have you ever been tired of waiting? Do you get bored to the point of hating having to stand on line or get to your destination? Of course, you are not alone. Most people have this issue. I

Raise your hand if you're fed up with the round the clock news coverage of our "doomed economy." I won't pretend to know all the ins and outs of this whole sordid mess (nor do I want to know), but I can tell you that what little I do know makes me nauseous. After examining some of the cultural factors which establish a context within which faith is considered a virtue in Part I, we are ready to tackle the tough questions head on. We have seen that respect and admiration are often bestowed on the individual who endures great hardships and overcomes the odds to eventually triumph. But is faith really so difficult to maintain in our modern world that it

Faith, in the religious sense of the word, refers to maintaining belief in something for which there is insufficient evidence to justify holding the belief. Where the evidence is sufficient, we have no need for faith. But when we want to believe something for reasons other than because the evidence warrants our doing so, faith enters the equation. And yet, nothing about this definition explains wh

I realize that many of you have no idea where “Virtue Alert” originated and the story behind its oh-so-humble beginnings. Consider this a crash course of sorts. The idea for a sound-the-alarm “virtue alert” warning to parents was birthed on February 1, 2004. I was sitting in my game room with a gaggle of teens watching the live half-time performance during Super Bowl XXXVIII. You might rem

The uprising in Tibet is the latest in a long series of developments in India’s neighbourhood that has exposed India’s congenital inability and lack of desire to get itself to be counted as even a small player, forget a major one, in the region. The ongoing protests against Chinese oppression in Tibet have seen India bend twice over backwards like a little nation so that the Chinese are not annoyed at all. All the cacophony about “morality” that accompanies other developments to influence India’s response - national interest be damned - is conspicuous by its almost total absence. This time, it is neither morality nor national interest which is determining India’s official and even media response to what China has been doing in Tibet for 60 years. This time, it is an unashamed, u

"Great difficulties may be surmounted by patience and perseverance." -Abigail Adams, The Second First Lady of the United States of America, Abigail Adams books//Patience is not one of my strengths. I want to achieve my goals and overcome obstacles quickly. I am an optimistic overachiever who believes anything is possible in life and everything is within my control. In other words, I am moderately delusional about my own capabilities, and I am a member of the 'I want it now' society. The upside to being impatient and highly motivated is that I am willing to take risks much moreso than my counterparts or co-workers. I like to try new things, and I view every obstacle as an opportunity to learn and grow. I am driven to be the best at everything that I do. I am a leader and an explorer who love

Apparently he’s noticing because when he asked to get out of his booster seat tonight he said “All done! Wait.”

From Easy Does It, Oct. 27: "Patience is important to our growth and peace of mind. Without patience, we would have difficulty holding down anxiety, anger, envy and unreasonable pride...When we set goals that we can reach and are patient with our progress, we save ourselves a lot of anxiety. "I remember reading a sign that said- G-d please grant me patience, but I want it right now! Well, I am guilty of impatience. Guilty of wanting what I want. And yes, it has proven to be a problem for me, in holding down all of those things mentioned above: anxiety, anger, envy and pride. Amazing to think that all of those might be solved with a little patience.Do you know where I learned a lesson about patience? It was something I learned from two doves who took turns sitting on the little eggs in their nest, right outside my home. I learned so much from those birds that summer, long ago. First of all, I noticed how whichever one sat in the daytime stayed until the other one flew back to take its
i felt like a man today! so gonna play the same...lets watch it through a man perspective or may be that if i would have been a man!"Virginity can be lost by a thought", is the possible explanation to my conclusion. It all started when Adam decided to obey what Eve said. The event didn't only trigger the henpecked era but also led to the civilization. Questions are raised why did Eve do it? Was she married? Well, we all doubt. She was a virgin who collapsed the gates because she couldn't stand guarding it. Times have changed. When the films of 'American Pie', 'Road Run' and 'Forty Days and Forty Nights' used to hit the stands, I used to sneak somehow to get two tickets and make into the hall with my girlfriend clasping her hand. And we used to feel great because we were not married and she still virgins.Once during a college fest I had met a beautiful American blonde and during our tête-à-tête I asked whether she prefers virginity or not and s
I was rereading The Te of Piglet by Benjamin Hoffman. He explains the Chinese character Te.
"In Classical Chinese, it (Te) is written two ways.
The first joins the character for upright to the character
for heart. Its meaning is virtue. The second way adds the
character for left foot, which in Chinese signifies stepping out.
Its meaning is virtue in action."
Virtue in action. I like that. For me, that's what personal development is. Virtue in action. We have to to take action in order to grow and develop. It's been said that the more we are able to step out of our comfort zone , the more we are able to develop. Remember the first time you rode a bike, or jumped into the deep end of the pool. Pretty scary huh? But you did it and it wasn't to long before you were biking or swimming or whatever it was that was scary but fun to learn.
Remember there is virtue in action, and maybe a little bit of fun and personal development too.

The concept of ‘virtue’ leading up to the Renaissance was a concept drawn from antiquity and it was a concept with a complicated mix of meanings, some moral– as is typically the case in modern usage– and some not moral. A good sense of this latter meaning can be gained from a consideration of Dante’s statement, in his Convivio (I,v), that “Everything is virtuous in its nature when it does that for which it is ordained.” A thing, in other words, is virtuous when it does what it is meant to do. Virtue, also, in a related usage, could refer to a power or an ability to perform some task. One might, for example, refer to “God’s virtue” and mean “God’s power and purpose”.
The concept of virtue in the fifteenth century was taking on new meanings as well. It was coming to mean a kind of thing-in-itself, an entity, that is admirable in human action, as opposed to its long use previously to refer rather to the sum of
The outstanding New Advent website has one of the most exciting resources on the internet, the Catholic Encylopedia from 1903. I dig in there from time to time; I like the old-style writing and the mild shock I sometimes get from reading something free of modern PC.
I invite you to delve in with me. Let's start with the most important of the three Divine virtues as per St. Paul.
Briefly, practical application of this virtue for me means wishing the best for people- friends, enemies, and those in between regardless of whether their good fortune affects me positively or not.*

Love (Theological Virtue)
The third and greatest of the Divine virtues enumerated by St. Paul (1 Corinthians 13:13), usually called charity, defined: a divinely infused habit, inclining the human will to cherish God for his own sake above all things, and man for the sake of God.
This definition sets off the main characteristics of charity:

“…Initially, the only riders who showed aggression were Nicolas Vogondy (Agritubel) and Matthieu Ladagnous (Francaise des Jeux). The Frenchmen attacked at six km and were joined at 52 km by Stephane Auge (Cofidis) and Frederik Willems (Liquigas). Vogondy and Ladagnous led by 13:50 at 44 km. Only then did CSC up the tempo.
At 104 km, the escapees led the bunch by 7:50. The chase was not hard, however. The peloton was together, and no riders had trouble following the pace.
With 61 km left and the fugitives’ lead down to 4:00, Auge attacked his companions and Willems followed. Two km later, the pair waited for Vogondy and Ladagnous. Behind, CSC and Credit Agricole stepped on the gas. The escapees led by 3:00 at 52 km.
With 21 km remaining, the break led the bunch by 2:36. Predictor, Quick Step, and Credit Agricole upped the tempo. Within five km, the lead had dropped half a minute, and with 10 km left, the bunch was 1:30 behind the break. A capture, however, was not certain, and
If you’ve been active in the job and employment market in the Penang area, especially close to Bayan Lepas industrial area you’re probably familiar with Virtue Associates (Virtue Associates Sdn Bhd) or VA. Virtue Associates is a Penang-based recruitment agency which now has an office in Jln Dr Awang, Bayan Lepas (If I’m not mistaken their previous office was based in Fettes Road).
They have been in the job market for quite a while and I believe based on the latest look on their website, the organization itself has gone through some rapid changes too.

I’m one of the most impatient people I know. Like now I can’t wait until this blog is up and running like my previous one was.
If you noticed my old blog is unavailable, its because Wordpress decided to close it down. Luckily I was in the process of getting this one ready, so I wasn’t caught too off guard - I just had to rush things a bit. I think I finally got a theme? Tell me what you think about it. I needed something different than the normal Wordpress themes, but with a sidebar which at least displays my blogroll.
Now I’m kinda comfy here, except that hardly anyone has been around. It’d be nice to know that you guys found me again? I miss your comments!
For those of you who’d like to swap links, please leave me a comment!!
You don’t need to look far to realize that we live in an age of instant gratification. The modern world has gone out of its way to make it as easy as possible to get the things you want instantly. The enemy here? Time. Time is the one thing no one wants to deal with. Time is the enemy. Why wait when you can have it now? In the online world time has been marginalized. Instant messenger services, almost instant email, 24 hour information flow etc. all negate the effects of traditional time.
There is one area that time still holds sway over online and that is the maturation of sites. The bottom line is that for your site to mature and really start to reach its true potential it takes time. A very basic bit of advice goes like this, build your site, promote your site and forget about your site for at least 6 months while it comes into its own.
What exactly is site maturation? Site maturation is the process by which your real estate website begins to integrate itself with

Wait to hear the ding a ling Wrongdoers pay and justice rings That is greatest thing Of ending a discrimination ring. If you feel discomfort in this It’s your soul you must enlist To change your current friends list Deleting everyone who throws bigot piss And doesn’t want to end any of it. And know it’s only money you see That can end discrimination permanently Companies think greedily And payment causes good to seed That’s just a factual reality. Quiet punishments work they do And make life better for me and you Mak

Laura exudes the quiet Here and Now. It comes through in each post that she writes, although she's pretty clever as well, proving that being quiet does not mean being boring. In this post she writes about making a commitment not to complain for 21 days. I was just thinking along these lines this weekend. I don't want to complain. I don't want to portray a sense of discontent or grouchiness,
More and more I have wondered why it is seen as such a disgrace to change your mind about things. I have had many different discussions on different subjects online as well as in real life, and almost invariably people hold on to their ideas and beliefs as if their life depended on it. I will haste to admit that I am also guilty of this type of behavior. Even when my opponent has brought up a really good point that threatens my entire argument, it is tempting to go "well you are just an ashole", or something equally relevant... When I am courageous enough to say, "that is a good point, you are right" it often feels like I have lost my dignity, and I will walk away like a dog with the tail between its legs. I wonder why it is so hard to admit that you were wrong? Is there some evolutionary explanation of this?It is of course important to point out that it would also be a problem if people changed their mind too easily. Many of the ideas that are today seen as obvious, were ridiculed whe
...and it's one virtue that I simply lack. I really do not have any patience. I'm one of those people who have a million unfinished jobs sitting around the house, because of the fact that I don't have enough patience to finish a job. When I want something made, I want it made now. This is why I am so horrible at sewing. Pinning fabric together? Nah, takes too long. Pressing fabric? Nah, takes too long. And then I wonder why everything I sew comes out horrible. But I digress...the real reason I am writing about my problem with patience has to do, suprisingly, with potty training. Lately I've been finding myself becoming more and more impatient with the fact that the Mermaid is not yet potty trained. This leaves me to do something that I swore I would never do - compare my child to other children. My impatience leads me to think to myself, as I am changing the Mermaid's diaper, "So and so's child is potty trained. Why isn't the Mermaid?" Now, I also swore to myself that I
