Indians SP C.C. Sabathia earned his first spring win Sunday against the Dodgers. He worked five innings, allowing four hits, one walk and no earned runs. He also had two strikeouts. Sabathia now has a 3.21 ERA through four spring starts totaling 14 innings. He also has 10 strikeouts. Sabathia will be 28 in 2008 and the hefty lefty ace has the potential to be overlooked on Draft Day. This is a nice story on a number of different levels. It's good to hear directly from the troops that more face to face contact with Iraqi civilians is working. It's good to see that the Iraqi's might be getting to trust us a bit more. If they watch American news it must be terrifying for them to think we might cut and run at any second. And It's especially good to see the press actually printing some good news about the military for a change. Yes, there was a few small swipes by the journalist but overall I would consider it a very positive piece. It's disheartening to think that we have spent the last three years hunkered down inside fortified locations taking incoming and IED's anytime we left the bases rather than directly interacting with good Iraqis on the streets willing to help us help them. I can understand commanders deciding to pull the troops back inside "safe" bases rather than leaving them as targets on the streets but when they are all gathered in set
