Send Sam positive vibes as Miss Universe 2008 kicks into high gear
Preliminaries for Miss Universe began Sunday, where the contestants model in their bikinis; and the interviews on Monday are three minutes long, with three judges.    This surprises me, because we interviewed the contestants in New Zealand over a minimum of 10 minutes with five judges—and I dare say, though I never timed the sessions, that [...]

Rakhi and Kashmira having negative vibes
Rakhi Sawant and Kashmira Shah who shared negative vibes on Big Boss, pretended to be friends again (atleast in front of the audience) on the sets of “Nach Baliye” have gotten it out on each other once again. The recent role of Kashmira Shah in a musical in Mumbai which projected her to be a item girl from a very low background, who wants to make it big in bollywood, has made Rakhi shot again.

      Hide your vibes folks…
Yep, you heard it here first. The TSA (Travel Scare Authority) is now going to requiring all electronic items to be removed from your bag and put through the X-Ray machine. I was in the Cincinnati airport today and during this ‘pilot program’ I was asked to remove all of my electronic equipment from my bag. That meant anything that could be turned on and off. However this pilot program is not ready for prime time because I had an electric shaver in my roll aboard suitcase and a Bluetooth headset in the pocket of my backpack. I failed to remove those items and yet I was not stopped and required to take those out of my baggage. I got to stand around in line for quite some time because I was behind a family of 5 or 6 that had packed a ton of stuff and I felt rude just going around them, i

Evil Vibes Spook The Mars Volta
The Mars Volta claim they were haunted by dark forces while recording their new album. Idiots. Their new album, titled The Bedlam in Goliath, was supposedly cursed because Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (guitarist) bought Cedric Bixler (frontman) a Ouija board from Jerusalem, Israel. The band blame the Ouija board for causing power outages, floods and the nervous breakdown of a recording engineer, and are convinced evil spirits played a part in the album creation process. Rodriguez-Lopez says, "It felt like savagery. It didn't affect the music as much as the expression of the music."

Setting Up Your Bedroom To Give The Right Vibes
By: Rika Your bedroom is the place where you spend your most private and cozy moments. It is the place where you start the day, and end it as well. How many times have you heard yourself repeat ‘looks like I got out of the wrong side of the bed today’? If a place has the potential to make or upset your entire day’s proceedings, you might as well as make it good and comfortable – why take a chance?Does your bedroom face the sun or away from it? Whatever the feng shui enthusiasts may say (I don’t know, really – the art never enthused me enough), a simple fact is that a room that has the early morning sun’s rays streaming onto your bedroom furniture, is bound to fill your mornings with an energy unparalleled by anything else. If you are an early riser, you may be lucky enough to have a look at the rising sun. One look at the magnificent orange ball of fire and you will be so mesmerized by its sheer beauty and the energy it fills inside you that you will like to do it again,

So we are quietly laughing to ourselves at the absurdity and the honour of such company. Unfortunately, we won't be able to get suited up and go the awards ceremony as we will be driving somewhere between salt lake city and seattle... Good Vibes - Sales Pitch Immunity and Loving Amazon
I’m constantly amazed that so many people in the business of sales, have no sales pitch immunity. I went to a Tom Hopkins seminar yesterday, and yes it was pretty good. I did learn a good number of things and generally pleased with it. However I did find the push to buy the $800 O… M… G… special for today for $295 package of DVD’s and Books somewhat in your face. I mean I just get the “Danger Will Robinson, You Are Being Sold” alert ringing in my head for that sort of thing. Holy Convention Center Bleating Sheep Batman… half the people here brought the package. Even after Tom Hopkins explained it was a sales pitch to them all. If you’re in the business of sales yourself, and someone spells out they are making a sales pitch to you, asks for your money, and you automatically fish out your credit card… …wake up to yourself. Good Vibes - BOOM! Headshot!
This morning I got a “heads up” email of a pretty gruesome situation unraveling on one of the other real estate blogs. It’s a great story. Deception, confusion, lies, revenge, sex, anger, pulled forums and lawyers. SEXY SHOULDER ANGEL SAYS: “Come on in and take a side.” Then I went off to my seminar for the day and couldn’t touch the story. Back home and digging into it to try and sort it all out. Hmmm… I have some theories on it and it’s tempting to dive in. But… The biggest thing I feel right now is that the “yay everyone in real estate blogging” feeling that was around in 2006 has been officially been given the BOOM! Headshot! finishing move. But that wouldn’t be very good vibes now would it. Good Vibes - Link Out!
One of the things I do particularly well as a blogger is link OUT. Hey I admit it, I love to get linked IN as much as anyone, but I don’t worry about that all that much. I’m not even really scheming for getting linked IN by linking OUT. If it comes it comes. I think with The Feed Bag in effect I link OUT maybe 10–15 times the number of times I get linked IN. I have however had an number of emails from other people in the last week just turning cartwheels for joy for getting linked to by me, or positive comments from me on Reagent. That really floats my boat. Though I do know this much. We’re on the World Wide Web. Every time you’re linking OUT, someone else is getting linked IN. That sends little tremors through the entire web. What you send out, you tend to get back. You know how much you love getting linked IN. That’s how everyone feels about it too. Don’t wait for link love to come to you and tell you that you’re &l

Good Vibes - Frenzied Cleaning Is Good For The Soul
Mum and Dad should be here any minute. And by “here”, I mean “got on a plane and flew from New Zealand”. They land in New York and are driving up to Connecticut from there. Yep a pair of old people flying for 24 hours, then getting out and driving on their “wrong side of the road” for 3–4 hours during rush hour. Personally I think it’s a terrible idea, but there’s no arguing with these people. Anyway, Jen is racing around – for the last two days – like she has a big dial on her back with an arrow pointing to “berserk”. I’ve been in damage control trying to calm her down and get the house cleaned up together just the once, as opposed to the 3–4 times Jen would have done it solo over the last week. Silly girl, Mum and Dad really like her. Heck probably more than they like me. Anyway the house is in pretty good shape and it does feel good to have everything buffed, vacuumed, mowed, rinsed, fluff

Good Vibes - An Unforgettable Night
It’s nice to have friends worried about you. I posted yesterday that Jen and I were getting a free night out with the kids sleeping over at their grandparents. Yet if you read the comments, you’d think I just announced we we’re off for last ditch marriage counseling… You are at home alone with your wife…no kids…and you’re blogging. Athol, back away from the computer. Grab a nice bottle of wine and pay more attention to your wife. Otherwise, all you’ll have to hold at night is your mouse. and… Chris beat me to it. At least make it the early movie, alright? Um guys… I finished my blogging for the day around 2pm. Then we dropped the kids off around 5pm and went out. Now because Chris and Jeff clearly won’t be satisfied without the details…   We dropped the kids off and consistently broke the speed limit on the way to Applebees. Good Vibes - Open Houses and Leads
It’s Sunday, so that means two things usually. One is a half-hearted attempt to try and take it “off from blogging”. Two is having an Open House. At Open Houses I’m constantly struck by how so many people are frightened to build a relationship with a realtor for fear of endless spamming phone calls etc. I keep telling people… “if you’re ready, you’re ready, if you’re not you’re not, and nothing I can say will really change that for you. If you’re not ready, I’ll just hang out until you are. The when you’re ready, I’ll totally help you buy and sell”. No hassle, no spam, no silent pleading eyes for your business. The looks of relief are tangible sometimes. If it’s obvious this house is not the one for the visitor, and they aren’t signed to another realtor, I try and “close them” on a simple MLS search. “So if not this house, what are you looking for? And how

Good Vibes - Staging Is A Lot Of Fun
I’m shooting photos for a friend at the office. Usually it takes me about 40–45 minutes fluffing around to shoot a house. But when you arrive to…                 …it takes a little longer. The owner was home and we both had the most wonderful time discussing the house and some of the most interesting pieces in it. We chatted about pricing, how homes were sold, how the MLS really works and why realtors can’t just wave a magic wand and have a buyer appear. And as we chatted, we cleaned up a bit. Decluttered some.                 The listing agent was ecstatic. “You made that house look much nicer than it is”. “No I didn’t, that’s how the house looks without too much stuff”. It’s not faking it anymore than combing your hair and brushing your teeth is. Plus it’s a lot of fun. Bookmark this article:

Good Vibes - Eating Pizza And Suddenly Getting Connecticut
If you want to get pizza in Bristol, the best place to get it is in Forestville at The Oasis.                 The Clams Casino…                 That’s right people, I’m shooting with one hand. Yeah I thought broccoli was the dumbest pizza topping in the world until… OMG I shouldn’t be eating this. OMG I can’t stop eating it. Anyway rewind a bit. I’m picking up the pizzas and the medium clams casino and the small cheese (with half pineapple because one kids wants pineapple and the other one doesn’t) comes to $19.82. “1982. That’s when I moved to Connecticut from New York”, says the owner as he rings it up. We get to chit chatting for a second about living in Connecticut and how we both have ended up here. I’m asked all the time about New Zealand and coming to America that I’m just using my prepped lines I’ve de

Good Vibes - Dave Smith in Tucson
It’s always good to have friends. I count a lot of people in the real estate blogging world as friends. Oooh, I just had a sudden linkbaiting twitch about linking to everyone I considered a “friend” as a guilt inducing measure at responsive return linkage. Nah, that would take too long and be medium evil. Anyway, I’ve actually been on a moderately low point emotionally and blogging wise for about two months. Really just going through the motions. At least to my credit going through the motions means two posts a day rather than a big blank space in something we call June and July. Only Dave Smith bothered to actually email me and ask me how I was. Also as I write I realize Jonathan Dalton has called me a couple times in mock outrage about something I wrote. He always did ask me how I was in some form or an other though. I blew those questions off though. Dave has quietly staged a little mini intervention behind the scenes. Though I doubt he thought of it tha

Poor Jack LeVine. Back in February or so, Jack had a fabulous idea. He’d create a blog and it would be all about Las Vegas real estate. No one had thought of real estate blogging yet. Awesome idea! Except for the oh… 20,000 Active Rain peeps and all the rest of us pounding the keyboard day after day. Ah well, no worries and Jack created a pretty decent blog.  Then Jack had a second amazing lightning bolt of a good idea. A post about the worst MLS photos!! No one had thought of doing that!! AWESOME!         Jack and I emailed back and forth and after an emailed clarification of what exactly qualifies as “really bad lighting” he was laughing so hard he called me and we chatted for a while. So here’s the upshot of it all. We have 1.3 million realtors in America. Assuming 10% of those 1.3 million are moronic individuals wasting the planets oxygen, if they each post just one dumbass photo to the MLS each year, thats sti

Ever had one of those days where everything goes… …right. True story. Weekly office meeting today was replaced with a training thingy at 1230p, so no morning meeting. So I slept in a bit longer than usual. On the way into the office for the tour my cell phone rang. A pleasant female voice asked me if I could just drop everything and come over right now as she had an opening that needed to be filled. Wow did she work me over good. Then with my shiny cleaned teeth I caught up with what remained of the tour. Gosh darn it I missed it all except one house. Oh cool, it’s the house I was asked to shoot photos in. Snappy snappy and done. Finally get to the office and free is my favorite pizza flavor. Uh oh. “Free Training” is code word for “You are trapped like guinea pigs in a sales pitch for a conference about referrals that costs $1495, but wait it’s $795, but wait it’s $695”. But before these “friendly vibes” misquoted by the media as something else (not just friends for gods sake) Navadeep quickly explains, “Kajal and I came to know each other through a common friend. We have buddies since then. We share a nice friendship. I was not aware she was part of the cast when script was narrated to me. It came as a big surprise to hear about it”. But for the people who knows Navadeep’s past history won’t surprise if their ‘true friendship’ turns into something else. Isn’t it! If any doubts, call Ankitha and ask!

It's melodic, has some acoustic guitar and just enough umph to make you want to bop all summer. Oh really, just go there. Love. Then sit down again and peruse Flooby Nooby. Have some time to do this, and anticipate watching some of the video. Yep. Told you. Okay, so you have to be selective, but there's really good stuff there. Then get some politics of feminism regarding that Clinton bandwagon with Margery Eagan in the Boston Herald. Sing it, sister. (That is, of course, just the tip of the torpedo bra. We won't go into the sheer idiocy of having this pair even in the running. Eeew. The dress, the smarm, the...oh, just eeew.)In fact, I can't even go on, I'm shuddering too hard.Oh, wait, there are a few more things. I've been glued to the second half of Dan Simmons' two par

Bernard Haitink and the Chicago Symphony - good vibes all around
Chicago Symphony double bassist and CSO Bass Blog blogger Michael Hovnanian wrote a recent post about the dynamic between the Chicago Symphony and Bernard Haitink. It sounds like the working atmosphere has improved considerably in the Chicago Symphony since the departure of Daniel Barenboim:For years around here ‘artistry’ has been so firmly linked to negativity that it is almost impossible for any conductor to clear away the poisoned atmosphere. Somehow Haitink managed to do it this week. He is a quiet, self-effacing conductor, and the orchestra really seems to admire and respect him. Rehearsals were eerily quiet when he stopped us to make minor corrections here and there. His remarks were consistently both tactful and effective. As everyone knows, orchestra musicians are feckless and lazy. Naturally we would prefer any conductor who treated us nicely over one who might attempt to lead us to a higher level of artistry. That in mind, I tried to keep a critical ear on Haitink’s c

      Negative Shopautodotca Seocontest Vibes
For my part, I have been learning a lot in this seocontest, and I have really enjoyed networking with other bloggers. I have even helped a few people with their own SEO along the way. I am extremely proud of my site... and proud of my achievement. I have done a fabulous job with my site and the reason that I am doing well is because I have worked very hard with my linkbuilding and my onsite SEO. This is still just a game, and no one was guaranteed a win in the shopautodotca seocontest. Everybody has the same chance at winning and who knows which way it will go in the end.

      Old Friends, New Vibes
Terrence is visiting for one last weekend before he moves to Seattle to play in the IBL for a few months. He flew from Atlanta on Friday night, and I met him at my apartment after getting a pedicure and stopping by Magnolia Bakery. I've decided that my favorite street in Manhattan is West 11th Street between West 4th and Bleeker. See the phone photo op below.Saturday night, Tokii (who had just returned yesterday from her Spring Break spent at home in Raleigh and left today for New Orleans to do post-Hurricane Katrina volunteer service with The Juilliard School), Terrence and I met up with an old college friend named BJ. His girlfriend's best friend (a New Yorker) was having a birthday party at a lounge called Honey on West 14th Street so BJ and his girlfriend had flown up from North Carolina, where they both attend law school.Just before a second round of drinks, we were reminiscing about our college days in Cullowhee. We laughed about the night Ms. Sue Ella charged into BJ's dorm r

Oh my bod : Sexy Vibes

      080317: Sunny Angolan Vibes

Today when I woke up and took a look outside I went deeply depressed. Why? Well, a heavy snow storm turend the world white again...
