Venezuelan army officer caught in Colombia selling bullets for the FARC
This just broke in on Globovision screen so I withdrew the post I just placed as this story is much more important (that post will go up later). According to RCN Colombia, and just shown on Globovision, a Nazional Guard officer was arrested in Colombia trying to sell FAL bullets to some FARC agent. Now before anyone [...]

'The Simpsons' Removed by Venezuelan TV
A Venezuelan TV channel has yanked an 11:00am showing of "The Simpsons" off the air because it may be inappropriate for children. After receiving numerous complaints from viewers, the program was pulled Friday. Taking its place: "Baywatch Hawaii."The TV station reportedly pulled the program after worrying that the series at that hour could violate national regulations prohibiting "messages that go against the whole education of boys, girls and adolescents." Put in place by Hugo Chavez."We are hoping it will continue to have a good rating, because 'The Simpsons' worked very well - so much so that it had the highest levels of viewership for that morning timetable in the history of the channel," G.M. Hugo Chavez and Socialism Will Starve the Venezuelan People by the End of Next Year
It is just sickening how people who have no concept of economics continue to applaud Hugo Chavez and his socialist policies. Newsflash: Socialism does not work; it never has. Socialism reduces all incentives for people to work, and as a result, the supply of consumer goods is often the first to go. Starvation follows because the people have no incentive to work long agonizing hours on a farm if... Click the Headline Link to Visit Copious Dissent and Read the Full Story.

A 'Yankee Victor' Big Bang style from Hublot for Venezuelan Jet Owners
Watch Luxus wrote:Hublot has created a limited edition Big Bang exlusively for Venezuela. For a personalised, aeronautical touch, Hublot has given it the country's code name, as used in civil aviation. The dial features the initials YV, which stand for Yankee Victor in the International Radio alphabet. What's more, the back is left plain for clients to engrave the registration number of their plane. The retailer, Samir Bazzi, who represents the Swiss brand in Caracas, wanted a special watch for his private jet-owning clients, of whom there are many in this country. Hublot, captivated by the new project and remaining true to its strategy of going wherever the clients are, rapidly adopted this hitherto unexplored concept.Greys merge with the matt black dial of a raw, yet refined model crafted in steel and ceramic with satin-finish touches like Big Bang for Ayerton Senna limited edition... a model that remains a true Big Bang with a design so singular it's unmistakeable.

Venezuelan Currency: President Hugo Chavez Tightens His Grip
President Hugo Chavez is going to be increasing his grip on the Venezuelan currency. So far in 2007, the Venezuelan currency (bolívar) has seen its support in other foreign currencies fall 28.7pct. Under the new proposals for the Venezuelan currency by Chavez, the president will be exercising much more control over the foreign currencies reserves in Venezuela that as mainly US dollars, due to the amount of business Venezuelan does with America. Article 318 of the proposal for the Venezuelan currency states: “International reserves shall be managed by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV), under the administration and guidance of the President, as the administrator of the national treasury. What do you think about the Venezuelan currency? Can Chavez get control of the Venezuelan currency again? Source Written by Roy for Product ReviewsIn Sections: Business, News

SOUTH AMERICA: The venezuelan Goverment, going to continue talks on oil reserves
Venezuela continues negotiations with major oil companies that have withdrawn from the nation in the face of President Hugo Chavez's nationalization of the industry, but will not back down from insistence on Venezuelan control, its ambassador to the United States said in Houston today. Venezuela will hold the majority control in upstream operations, Ambassador Bernardo Alvarez said in a meeting with the Chronicle editorial board. "We want partnerships with private companies, but with that rule." Alvarez also said he does not believe the United States will attempt to confiscate Venezuelan assets in this country, including five refineries, as compensation for oil company assets in Venezuela. He hopes his country and the companies involved will reach agreement. Last month, Houston-based ConocoPhillips and Irving-based Exxon Mobil refused to accept new working terms for their Venezuelan operations. Venezuela's national oil company, Petróleos de Venezuela, known as PDVSA, absorbed their

Exxon Mobil hands over Venezuelan project
The world's largest company will give up operations of a major oil project as Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez takes control of the country's oilfields. CARACAS (Reuters) -- Exxon Mobil plans to hand operations of a multibillion-dollar oil project to the Venezuelan state before a May 1 deadline imposed by President Hugo Chavez, industry sources said Thursday. Chavez this week signed a decree for the government to take a majority stake in four heavy crude upgrading projects in the Orinoco basin by May 1 as part of a nationalization drive toward Cuba-inspired socialism. The move shows Exxon (Charts), the world's largest company, complying with Chavez's order to cede control of the Cerro Negro project despite doubts over whether private companies will in fact meet Chavez's ambitious deadline. Energy authorities in 2006 extended an initial deadline to take control of oilfields operated by private and foreign oil companies, which operated the fields for three months

Hugo Chavez Accuses U.S. of Plan to Wreck Venezuelan Economy
I keep mentioning Chavez because he's both representative of Yanquiphobic dictators and, well, he's just darn funny. Take the story below. Chavez repeatedly describes how he wants to bring down the evil empire (us) yet it's he who complains that the U.S. of wanting to do the same to his country EVEN THOUGH NOBODY'S SAID ANY SUCH THING. It reminds me of Castro who confiscates American property, uses the harshest terms to describe the United States (like Chavez, Castro would accuse the US of crazy conspiracies like poisoning the Cuban food supply [no doubt to cover for his economic failures]), dump his prisoners on our shores (except for you, abuela) while opposing our interests around the world and, at one time, pointing nuclear missiles at us. Despite such antagonistic behavior, it's he who complains because we don't want to trade with him. Do you understand the level of nuttiness involved? The bizarro-like logic necessary to even conceive such ideas? CARACAS, Venezuela &#

Venezuelan President Chavez Calls Bush the 'Devil'...
The Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez calls George W. Bush--the US dictator that's in office due to voter fraud---the Devil. Well, I agree with Chavez. Bush is a horrible person that should have never been put into the White House. What else is happening in the world today? The Hungarians are standing up against there government. Another conservative government in North America takes power due to voting irregularities...this time it is Mexico, not the US. The Pope is stoking the fire to keep religious fanatics hating each other. Why is that religion causes so much pain, suffering, hate and war? Have you ever wondered why? I surely do...
