Does the world need yet another company making Windows Mobile phones? Maybe, maybe not, but Velocity Mobile is doing it anyway with their Velocity 103 (left) and 111 (right) smartphones. Both are running Windows Mobile 6.1 and will launch in Q2 and Q3 respectively. What's this have to do with Mr. T? You can't spell Velocity without T, fool. Plus Mr. T likes smartphones.
The 103 has a 2.8-inch touchscreen with 640x480 resolution, Wi-Fi, AGPS, and no keyboard. The 111 has a front-facing keyboard, which cuts the resolution down to 320x240 on a 2.46-inch screen. This also has Wi-Fi and AGPS. Both phones have a 2-megapixel back camera and a 0.3-megapixel front video camera for conferencing. [Velocity Mobile]
The Velocity Micro Edge M40 ($2,980 direct) wants to bring hard-core gaming down to a more earthly price. As such, the M40 uses a relatively modest (but still quad-core) AMD Phenom 9600 processor instead of the overclocked Core 2 Extreme CPU found in many $5K boxes these days. Other pluses are a pair of ATI's Radeon HD 3870 graphics cards in a CrossFire configuration, dual 750GB hard drives, and a Blu-ray reader. Someone once remarked to me that tweening with Bezier curves seemed to have a ‘natural’ easing. In some cases, a sprite moving along the curve might appear to move slowly out of the first control point, noticeably speeding up moving into the last control point.
The issue is not easing, but parameterization. The subject of parameterization has been dealt with in detail in this blog and in TechNotes, although mostly for composite curves. The Singularity Bezier curves now support approximate arc-length parameterization (implemented in the base Parametric class).
A person drawing a quadratic Bezier with curveTo() might be inclined to state that the point corresponding to t=0.5 was exactly halfway along the length of the Bezier curve. If markers were distributed at say t=0, t=0.1, t=0.2 … t=1, one might expect them to be uniformly distributed along the curve.
In fact, the marker distribution depends on the curve’s geometric constraints (control point placement).
I learned two very valuable lesson today.

I had so much fun the other day taking the video with my soarstar, I rushed out there today and look what I did…
The last time, I attached the camera on top of the wing, in the center facing forward. It worked well, but I noticed after the flight, I was blocking the air flow to the motor and it got pretty hot.
