On a non-wedding related subject - Jeanie and I went with her friend and nephew to see Van Halen at the Wachovia Center last night. What an incredible show. We talked about how great it was all the way home. I was the only Van Halen veteran of the 3 of us - I had seen them on the Diver Down and 1984 tours, as well as seeing David Lee Roth on the tours for Skyscraper, A Little Ain't Enough and the Sam and Dave tour that he did with Sammy Hagar a few years back.They sounded fantastic except for too much reverb, but that could have been because we were way up in the second level. Eddie's playing is as tasteful and flashy as ever. Alex didn't miss a beat all night. And DLR was sounding better than ever. Many singers really go all out in the studio only to find they can't reproduce their range live, especially when they get older - Robert Plant and Elton John come to mind. But David Lee was hitting all the high notes and screeches that made him one of the best vocalists in the '80's.O

Van Halen made a “jump” into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Monday along with Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, R.E.M., the Ronettes and Patti Smith. A panel of 600 industry experts selected the five artists to be inducted at the annual ceremony, to be held March 12 in New York.

If you're a Van Halen fan today is a pretty monumental day, and one that has been a long time coming. For the first time in 22 years, Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth will reunite and embark on a North American tour that includes 25 stops in the U.S. and Canada. Van Halen, Roth and drummer Alex Van Halen will be joined by Eddies son, Wolfgang, who will replace Michael Anthony on bass guitar

David Lee Roth and his former bandmates in Van Halen will officially announce their reunion during a news conference at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles next Monday, according to their representatives.
“Come witness rock history as Van Halen makes an announcement of monumental proportions,” said a media alert e-mailed on Wednesday by concert promoter Live Nation.
Roth will be present at the 11 a.m. PDT announcement, along with Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen and his older brother, Alex Van Halen, the band’s drummer.
David Lee Roth, and not Sammy Hagar, will be on the mic. And Michael Anthony has been replaced by Wolfgang Van Halen (Eddie’s 16 year old son) on the bass.

If you remember back in early 2006, David Lee Roth started pushing the Van Halen Reunion Tour idea to the extreme. The gang's been talking about the reunion concerts for a while now, but the tour was held off for a number of reasons. The most recent stall had to do with Eddie checking into alcohol rehab back in March of 2007.
So when will the actual Van Halen Reunion Tour take place? Rolling Stone Magazine only said there would be a tour, and I guess it means it will be before the year's up. Maybe if you sell your children to a foreign slave market in time, you can afford tickets.

Es gibt durchaus Keyboardsounds und Keyboardspieltechniken, die mit dem Gitarrenklang einer Leadgitarre mithalten können, ohne dabei Gitarransampels benutzen zu müssen. Man muß nur wissen wie und man muß es natürlich auch können.
Nur mal so als Tipp an all die Keyboard-MIDI-Schubser, welche sich Alleinunterhalter schimpfen und an einem normalem Klavier komplett versagen.
Hier wird Van Halen's Gitarrensolo mit dem Song "Hot For Teacher" auf einem Roland JD-800 Keyboard hingelegt und das ist nicht übel. Das Sequencen übernimmt ein Korg 01/WFD.

Für eine Blue Gras Band, keine Problem, denn was Geschwindigkeit angeht, da zeigen Bluegrasspieler anderen Genres locker die lange Nase. A few weeks back on this site, we responded to the announced Van Halen tour — with Dave Roth momentarily back in the saddle yet again — with disdain or at least indifference. With the apparent power to doom aging rock bands with his pen, the tour was quickly scrapped following Woody’s caustic remarks.
