Valley Of The Giants - Valley Of The Giants
Over the years a few individuals have been able to capture the wandering, dust-caked, sonic isolation of Ennio Morricone and Sergio Leone, transferring the Italian’s love of the West into indie rock emotional detachment. Yo La Tengo. Pell Mell. Early Calexico. Giant Sand/Howe Gelb. The list is a short one, but a revered one. Valley of the Giants is the latest outfit deserving of keeping such illuminated company. And their self-titled debut is an amazing wash of melancholic instrumentation, forlorn vocalization, and enough sun choked, cacti laced ambiance to fill the soundtracks of at least a dozen alternative Westerns. "We were all talking about how someone ought to open a place locally to buy beads," said Dirr, who originally had no intention of being that "someone." Culjak couldn't agree more."I had just moved here in July and signed up for classes to meet people," she said. Culjak also noted that once a rental site had been found, she had to quickly catch her husband up to speed. "I didn't think we were serious. ICT - THE VALLEY OF THE DAMNED - Story but Petpositive
IT is often said that Information and Communications Technology helps to significantly improve our quality of life. Now, that may be true largely for able-bodied persons. But if you happen to be a person with a disability in our society like I am – along with countless others who still, sadly, stay hidden in our homes; I am sorry to say this to you: As far as such technology is concerned, you are practically screwed! The huge rainfall lately spelt disaster for me when lightning struck from nowhere whilst I was working on my computer. Luckily the electrical force was not enough to deliver a lethal blow to my computer. My phone line, however, was pulverized. My immediate reaction was to switch everything off until the storm had cleared. Then my real nightmare began.

While I will be conducting an interview with Filo sometime in the next few days, if luck is on my side these might be in my possession before the post is up. How, you ask? Today is a great event at Yahoo! called the "Free is Good Fair", where Yahoo! is working with Freecycle to have employees bring in stuff they don't want or need, and in turn they can take stuff they want from what has been brought in by others. Think of it as Craigslist without money...or "one man's junk is another man's treasure". I brought in several things, including sneakers and some snazzy soccer cleats--all in great shape. Although small, Chiles Valley is one of the premier wine regions in the state of California. More than 6,000 acres comprise Chiles Valley; however, only a little more than 1,000 acres are planted vineyards. While Cabernet Sauvignon thrives in other regions, Zinfandel is king in Chiles Valley. When touring Chiles Valley, you will find a small group of small wineries. The well drained soil and warm climate in this region have made it capable of producing outstanding Zinfandel wines in addition to excellent Cabernet Sauvignon.During the evenings and at night, the cooling winds blow through this region, creating a situation where the growing season in Chiles Valley is able to begin and end later than most adjacent regions. To know more about Chiles Valley, CLICK HERE .-valley.htm

The area known as the Loire Valley is located in a French region called Centre and affords anyone looking to purchase property many advantages over other regions. It has been proposed to rename this region Val de Loire (The Loire Valley) as many feel the name Centre is rather non-descript and does not highlight the beauty of the area. It was because of the beauty, accessibility, rivers and climate that the French kings build most of their castles in the Loire Valley. It is also located in the part of the country that is known as the Garden of France. One of the prime reasons for moving to the Loire Valley is its central position. Stone Corral Vineyard 2005 Edna Valley Pinot Noir by Talley Vineyards
Strolling through Winecask Wine Store in Santa Barbara we saw a bottle of the Stone Corral Vineyard 2005 Edna Valley Pinot Noir produced by Talley Vineyards. We have enjoyed several vintages of their Rincon Vineyard and Rosemary Vineyard Pinot Noir, and having heard about the newer Stone Corral Vineyard, but never tasted it, we just had to give it a try. At $55 a bottle we saved it for enjoyment with a Saturday night dinner. This wine has a clear, dark garnet color in the glass. The nose shows floral notes, raspberry, and subtle round oak.The palate displaying raspberry, restrained cherry, spice and notes of green tea. The fruit persistant and showing throughout the whole palate. Relatively high acidity and tight tannins with a “green” finish. We really liked this complex, still refined p

      Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve
It is now full season for California Poppy viewing. The season should last until at mid-May, with the flowers peaking over the next week or so. Most of the poppies are blooming on the south sides of the hills, but the north slopes have more of a variety of flowers such as owl's clover, forget-me-nots, wild onion, silver puffs, and red maids among poppies and goldfields. Now is a great time to head out to the Antelope Valley see this spectacular California flower show. There are a few things to remember for you enter the Poppy reserve: stay on the trail, Do NOT pick the wildflowers everything is protected and thre are high numbers of the Mojave Green rattlesnakes so watch where you step. Luxe of the Day: Ojai Valley Inn & Spa Resort
After weeks of personal and professional drama, I decided to get away for the weekend with my lady friend for a little R&R. We decided to head up to the sleepy town of Ojai located just 35 miles southeast of Santa Barbara. Tucked among the luscious rolling hills of the Ojai Valley is the five-diamond Ojai Valley Inn & Spa Resort. Located just a short one hour jaunt from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles, the resort is the perfect destination if you're looking for a convenient escape to decompress and enjoy some world-class pampering...both of which I desperately needed. We drove up Highway 101 past Calabasas (of Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey fame) and Ventura until we hit Freeway 33 which took us 13 miles into the town of Ojai. Admittedly, I was a bit concerned driving into Ojai a

I was on the hunt for something new to try and this bottle came highly recommended by the “wine guy” that helped me in the store. El Rancho has as lot of wine from local wineries that can be hard to find in other grocery stores/wine shops. This bottle was no exception. The only other place I could find it online was at WanderingDogWinebar.com, located in Solvang, for $32.The color in the glass; a dark, dense garnet color. On the nose smoky oak, dark raspberry, blackberry and vanilla. The palate showing dark cherry, dark raspberry, blackberry and a hint of pencil lead at the very finish. This is initially a very mouth full and fr

There was a few times we walked past this Taiwanese restaurant at The Gardens, noticed it but went on to patronize another restaurant. Everytime you walk past this place, it is always packed. Surely it will make you wonder, Taiwanese food so nice meh... so Sayang and I walked in one day lo...To be frank, I am not sure how much all the dishes cost us, but as a reference from Boo's review of this, she calls this place, Not Cheap, and she also mentioned that their good taste made up for the expensive prices. I ordered this bowl of Fried Noodles with Prawns. To me I thought they put in some pretty good stuff. I mean, I am not very familiar with Taiwan cuisine, but it sure does taste a lot better than the Little Taiwan experience I had , at MidValley. It came out pretty ok, the prawns wer

It's no secret that those of us who have never been in a war have probably ingested much of what we ''know'' of the experience of combat from the movies. "Heavy Frost in the Morning Sun", Amber Valley, Derbyshire 10"x14".Oil on board. Alistair Butt © 2008.A clear sky, low sun and a heavy frost covering the long grass, turned what on other day could just be another ordinary view into something quite wonderful. What captured my attention first was the line of haphazard fence posts and their cast shadows radiating across the sloping field, followed by the main tree and finally the distant hazy tree line as a background. There was just enough autumnal colour/color left on some trees/bushes to add some warmth More warm colour/color was available in areas of the foreground, the result of the sunlight shining through the clumps of tall grass. Along with the frost, these provide the 'warm' sections and so produced the counteraction between the warm
