There's a lot of speculation that her opening statement is totally fabricated and full of lies. Investigations with neighbors revealed that in fact many of them did in fact know she worked for the CIA. Many attest that she was never a covert CIA operative at all, just an average managerial employee. Her statements about Scooter Libby are very carefully worded to implicate him without saying it directly. I don't know for sure if she was recklessly exposed by the administration for purely political reasons. To be perfectly honest it wouldn't surprise me greatly to hear that was the case.
