Ontario’s superintendent of financial services should review the use of the verbal threshold for establishing serious and permanent injury and/or the use of a Cdn$30,000 deductible to discourage plaintiffs from pursuing smaller auto negligence claims, according to the summary of findings in the Civil Justice Reform Project.
The author of the Civil Justice Reform report, former associate Chief Justice of Ontario Coulter Osborne, released his findings in November 2007. Smaller auto negligence claims represent 21% of the province’s Superior Court of Justice claims, Osborne noted.
In his report, Osborne noted Ontario’s Bill 198 amendments to the Insurance Act in 1996, as well as its associated regulations, are intended to minimize smaller auto negligence claims.

The power of the word shows up over and over again. The specific words that you say, what you express, the fears you share , most often come true. Words are so powerful They can be the worst weapons if they are used to hurt someone. They are like bullets- verbal bullets that can cripple and kill.
The latest example of what I am referring to can be clearly seen with Duane DOG Chapman’s N word incident. In his argument with his son Tucker, DOG clearly stated that it wasn’t the problem that the girl his son was dating was Black,. He even stated that he didn’t care of she was Mexican or anything else. But if he truly felt that way, why use a verbal bullet and describe her as a N word.
What DOG apparently did care about was that he didn’t want anyone around him who was of color who had the potential of exposing the fact that he freely uses the N word in reference to some of the nefarious characters he hunts down. He didn’

Yesterday, Ducks' GM Brian Burke quipped: "If I had run my team into the sewer like that," he continued, "I wouldn't have thrown a grenade at the other 29 teams - and my own indirectly." Something I’ve always hated in my education is this execu-speak lexicon utilised by ‘learning professionals’ (aka ‘teachers’) in this ‘new age of information and application’ (aka ‘today’). Words such as ‘active learners’, ‘study skills’, ‘learning spirals’ and ‘integrated curriculum’ I find particularly offensive, as their meaningless rhetoric is often used to cloud up the gap in said persons knowledge because either they have no communication skills and are thus unable to express themselves in a coherent manner, or because they actually have no idea what they are talking about.One of the draw backs of attending these new ‘problem-based learning’ schools are that they all seem to have adopted this contemporary style. At Baby Bug’s last well-baby check-up, not only was the Pediatrician concerned about her appearance but she also made a comment on her lack of vocabulary skills.
She is now 15 months old and she hasn’t form a single comprehensible word. Of course, there are times when I swear she says “Mama” or “Hi” but those are few and far between. Then again I could just be imagining it.
I know they say that all children develop at their own pace and that you shouldn’t compare them, but I can’t help it. Girlie Girl knew her alphabet by the time she was 18 months. How can I not think about that?
When did your kids start talking? Any advice on how I can help develop her vocabulary? I read to her every day and try to engage her in conversation whenever I can. Who knows, maybe one day she’ll open her mouth and start talking in sentences!
