Wordpress is brilliant, if you aren’t already using it you should seriously consider it for your next website. Even if you aren’t setting up a blog it works great as a CMS. Not only is it SEO friendly (with the help of plugins) and super easy to use and maintain, but it is also great for [...]
I don’t know much about the codes, the CSS and everything for I am still learning, but here’s something I can share with those who are non-geeks like me.
I recently upgraded my WP2.3.3 to WP2.5 using the WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plugin (WPAU). It’s easy.
What WPAU does?
1. Backs up the files and makes available a link [...]
I am sure that most of you who use Wordpress as their blogging CMS would have probably seen the Wordpress Bookmarklet at the bottom of their “Write Post” page.
The interesting fact is that almost all Wordpress users know or have seen the Wordpress Bookmarklet but only very few know its actual use. Today I decided [...]
I have been working with a library on a redesign of their web site (set to go live Summer ‘08). The director approached me and asked me to check out LibData, which has a very interesting way of structuring content within pages. She had used LibData at the last library she had worked at to [...]
Today when I was reading news on various blogs, I came across news about a 5-month old blog that was sold for USD10,000 on Sitepoint.com. What is interesting about this blog is in five months the guy who created the blog raised his Google PageRank to 6, the website is ranked in the top 50 on Technorati and ranked 35,331 on Alexa. How on earth did he do it when the site was only getting around 1000+ visitors/day?
The guy who created the blog (blogohblog.com) created various Wordpress themes and he was getting all the links back to his site from sites that used his Wordpress themes. Amazing how Wordpress themes can be viral and spread across the internet so quickly that it boosted the website’s ranking in such a short space of time.

Keyword Research
Keyword research is an important aspect on natural organic search engine traffic or SEO. Like doing everything else, you need to do market survey first, that’s keyword research in our case. You must know the demand and supply of that particular phase to see if it is justifiable for you to enter into the market.
Ok, now, let’s go through the procedures now:
1. Search the trend of SEO keywords on overtures.
Visit http://inventory.overture.com, you can type in your keywords and it will return the numbers of search for its related keywords. The data is search count for the previous month. From there, you will be able to judge whether if the keywords is in high demand or not. Overture only shows you the data from overture search or Yahoo, and they are not the bigger search engine, right! The bigger Search Engine is Google and you need to multiply the number by 5 times to get a realistic
So we flopped around Googles website yesterday and stared in disbelief as the only answer to backup or export your data seemed like a crappy work-a-round. Domain Name & Web Hosting
I have always want to write a tutorial about using Wordpress to optimize site for organic search engine traffic. I have finally get myself to do it now. I am writing this as the first Natural SEO Search Engine Optimization tutorial and I will continually update more tutorials to my blog.
I will cover the topic from basic, if you are an advanced blogger, pardon me as I am trying to make the tutorial complete.
Domain name and web hosting is the first step to set up your own website.
If you want to optimize for search keyword, it would be good if you can include them into your domain name. However, if you think domain name is too short for you to include your keyword, well, then maybe you can select a broader keyword that covers your niche.
I recommend Namecheap.com. They package comes with competitive price and so far I heard that they are more tolerant for spam complaints.
Next web hosting.
After discussing my opinion about “Blogger or Wordpress?“, I decided to finally move to Wordpress. As I started this blog with low frequency of posting initially, I did not need to actually do the cumbersome task of moving blogger blog to wordpress. Even though I saved lot of time and headache by not “actually” moving blogger blog to Wordpress, you can still find smooth ways to get it done, I feel I have lost the opportunity to learn few new technical things here. As the number of posts since inception were not high in this blog, I manually transfered the posts.
Today, I am very happy to announce that we are finally proud member of Wordpress community. Now it’s the time to party!

Wordpress seems to be everyone’s favorite blogging tool for a while but not it seems to be fast becoming the chosen platform to be building sites thanks to its CMS functions and thousands of plugins.
The latest version of Wordpress offers the ability to make any page your “index” page which means you can fully remove all blogging features and set it up like any other CMS platform.
To show an example of using Wordpress as a CMS I found took a parked domain I own and decided to install the latest version of Wordpress on my hosting account. The Domain I choose to trial the Wordpress CMS was Hempz.co.uk which often gets visitors looking to purchase Hempz based beauty products.
I found a nice little green theme, had my writer create some uniqe content , then I added some simple PHP redirects to a image placed in the sidebar of the blog. At the same time I removed the latest post section and switched on search engine friendly URLS which took about 10 seconds and is another
