      Unsolicited E-mail, Spam
      Q. Why the unsolicited e-mail sent out to large number of people at the same time is called spam?A. The term is derived from Monty Python’s Flying Circus, a British TV comedy. The word ‘spam’ was sung therein repeatedly and loudly, drowning out conversation. The e-mail spam works much the same way, since it creates a great deal of clutter and chaos in the internet traffic. It is also known a

An Unsolicited Pimping for the “Can O’ Whup-Ass” Blog
In this post, I introduced my blogroll as it existed at the time (March 7, 2008). As I mentioned, I only put my own personal favorites, i.e., my “daily reads,” in my blogroll. Today I want to pick one of these blogs to highlight to the attention of my readership. No particular reason for this, other [...]

      Unsolicited Thoughts
      - An unsolicited thought - - Continually presenting itself - - Entering her mind without warning - Played out like a film Watched over and over again. The more she tries to Eliminate it, The more it seems to present itself - The sting like that of a bandage Torn off in one quick stroke. In time, Its persistence will liquefy, Much as the bile [...]

      Unsolicited…
I have shared to some of my friends that I bought books the other day from my book club. I just realized that my club attached a lot of coupons, and discount tickets for me to use. It’s like unsolicited spamming. The only difference is that I paid for it. LOL! Well, [...]

      Happiness is an unsolicited comment
I think I owe a former student an apology for jokingly saying a few minutes ago that she’s being corny when she shook my hand and said “This may sound a bit awkward, but I want to say thank you for the last semester.” Looking back, there’s nothing “corny” or “awkward” about complimenting someone. Of course, I have to admit that the compliment comes as a bit of a surprise given my reputation as a strict teacher. To the concerned former student: If you’re reading this, I hope you don’t think that I’m trivializing your gesture which I appreciate very much. It’s also good to know that, once in a while, there are complete strangers to send feedback about the usefulness of the information I post on my website (including this blog). A Bukidnon-based high school teacher who asked me for some references he could use in his task as a school paper adviser writes: Your website is so helpful to public school teachers like me.

Sify’s New Call Centre technology to prevent unsolicited calls
Sify has developed a new technology for call Centre operations in India which is in compliance with the DNC (Do Not Call) registry which will block the call centre operators from disturbing  you.The only requirement is that you must have registered yourself with the NDNC (National Do Not call) registry with any of the regulatory body. India which has a consumer subscriber base of more than 200 millions users and is growing manifolds rapidly this technology would work wonders for the end users. How this technology will help the common man ? The marketing calls from banks for credit cards and other such unsolicited calls could be prevented by just registering with Do Not Call registry. But it is not as simple as you might think. You have to sign up for DNC registry with each company who is disturbing you, now thats weird, there no single place where you can register for all the DNC in one go. But if somehow you register with all the huge list of companies out there, you can

      Unsolicited Advice
We all get it, we all hate it. In fact, I’ve been hearing a new buzz word around the blogosphere recently, referring to it as assvice. Isn’t that great? It’s the obnoxious comments you get from strangers when you’re just going about your own business. It’s the well-meaning, but annoying just the same comments you get from your mother-in-law. You are not alone, I promise. I am going to share some tips that may help you deal with the situation. If you have any other tips, feel free to let us know. Even though these are all rational and mature responses, I’d love to hear some of your sarcastic and less than polite retorts as well. Unsolicited Pregnancy Comments
Back when I was pregnant, people made some really stupid comments to me. In the beginning it was 'why aren't you wearing maternity clothes'. I'm a small person & I wasn't about to spend money I didn't have on clothes I was only going to wear for a few months. Instead, I just bought bigger sized regular clothes. Worked fine for me and was much cheaper. The stupid remark that took the cake was towards the end of my pregnancy when one of my coworkers said "you look bigger today than you did yesterday". Yeah, real nice.Anyways, if you're pregnant & people keep saying dumb things to you, you might appreciate this article.

      Pow! Unsolicited financial advice!
Hey everyone, Pirate has returned! His timing is impeccable too, what with the sheep starting to develop confidence and all. Anyway, now that he's back the livestock will re-assume their nervous tics while adventure on the high seas abounds. So why doesn't everyone slip through the back door and welcome Pirate back to the blogosphere's version of the gutter. On to the post...My husband and I go through a lot of financial reading material. Ok, ok... my husband reads a lot about finances. I sit back and calculate his projected net worth and provide reports to the cadre of hit men I'm interviewing. So anyway, he hands me a stack of articles this morning, the first of which is an article by Ben Stein. Now, don't get me wrong, I love, love, love Ben Stein. He's probably my favorite celebrity ever, and if neither of us were married I might be tempted to go David-Letterman-stalker on him and camp out in front of his Malibu home until the police took me away. That being said, when it comes
