You will still need extra insurance for longer period of unemployment to protect your financial interests and for this you can consider a private unemployment insurance which are available in most states up to a $2000 a month.

It used to be that a young adult out of college, possibly even just out of high school, could count on having one employer for his entire career. Pensions were common, and it was easy to map out your life to the American dream. That isn't the case anymore. Few non-union companies offer pensions, and even union controlled workforces are seeing pressure to eliminate the remaining guaranteed pensions. Plus, both men and women are much more likely to have full careers. Finally, few of those careers will be at a single employer. Some estimates say that new grads will have more than 14 jobs before claiming social security [if it lasts that long] While the frequent job changes can be positive, leading to more enjoyable work, better paying jobs, and the ability for many people to live where they want to, there is a significant downside. Lack of employee-employer loyalty - which goes both ways - means that it is very likely our new graduate is going to be unemployed at some point. This m

      Unemployment growth in Bhutan
Dec 9, 2007 -Thimphu: Bhutan’s current economic growth rate at 8.5% looks alright - meaning, as an economy the country is doing fine. Add to this, the rosy prediction that the figure might go double digit in another five years. But there is a paradox here. The country’s economic growth, spurred by the revenue from hydropower and service sector, has not been able to translate into jobs, primarily because of a weak manufacturing and production base. The 8.5%-growth, therefore, is not able to generate enough employment opportunities for the people entering labor market leading to an unemployment rate of 3.2%. Economists agree that the growth has failed to offset an increase in people seeking jobs, mainly because the growth is spurred by the sale of hydropower, construction industry and tourism that could not create enough employment opportunities. Sale of electricity brings in revenue but does not create employment opportunities, and the construction industry is almost entirel

Unemployment and a Web 2.0 Challenge
In our need for a sense of control during uncertain times, we are deeply driven to keep a sense of identity - “who we are.” We cannot deny we describe ourselves in terms of the work we do along with the type of family relationships we currently are in: “I” am a Doctor, Lawyer, Teacher or Engineer; “I” am married, single, or divorced. Throughout our lives, we have learned this type of classification and when the situation is changed or lost, our world is turned upside down. Last week, the Labor Department reported that employment rose by 166,000 in October, yet, unemployment remained unchanged at 4.7 percent. Strong gains in both services and government jobs offset declines in both manufacturing and construction. The evolution of the World Wide Web and the consequent widely implementation and development of information systems have certainly contributed to elimination of job; hence contributing to unemployment. Yet such actions and consequences are certainly not unusual nor uncommon. Similar historic tracks such as automatization have had similar impact in eliminating jobs. Essentially, it is rather a philosophical question: should a company or industry be held responsible for job elimination because of advancement in technology or other similar reason. It is hard to argue that attempts to increase effectiveness and efficiency should be accompanied by punitive measures such as holding particular end users responsible for loss of jobs. Nevertheless it seems rather obvious that for profit organizations as legal entities and member of the social and cultural structure have a responsibility to their native country. Unemployment Three Times Higher Than Official Figures
A new study shows that the “low unemployment” which Gordon’s much heralded “miracle” economy has been built upon, is a mere sleight of hand, and that actually unemployment is much much higher than the government are willing to admit to. Unemployment is almost three times as high as the Government’s official figures a new study has [...]

Pa. Ruling: Paralegals Can Represent Employers at Unemployment Compensation Hearings
The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has ruled that non-attorneys can represent employers at unemployment compensation hearings (full text of the opinion). Decided on April 17, 2007, this case paves the way for paralegals to represent clients at administrative hearings and at smaller judicial proceedings. The opinion stated:Simply stated, the character of the activities performed by representatives at unemployment hearings coupled with the informal nature of these proceedings, the minimal amounts at issue, and the long history of participation by non-lawyer representatives suggest that the public does not need the protection that serves as the basis for classifying certain activities to constitute the practice of law and that indeed, finding non-lawyer representatives to be engaging in the practice of law by acting in unemployment compensation proceedings would impose an unnecessary burden on the public.

      Unemployment Discrimination
י"ד בניסן תשס"זWell, I just received notice that my claim for an unemployment benefit has been denied on the basis that the nursing facility I formerly worked for told the unemployment adjudicator that I wasn't looking for full time employment, despite the fact that I applied for several full time positions with the facility. Each time the facility chose not to hire me for those full time positions to which I applied. Despite that I reiterated this fact to the unemployment adjudicator, he chose to believe the lie over the truth.Harrassment and discrimination. Now, not only am I a victim of pervasive employment discrimination but I am a victim of unemployment discrimination as well. Of course, this is not the first time a nursing facility has protested my unemployment benefit following firing me for religious-related reasons. The first "protestor" of unemployment benefits fired me for refusing to work on Shavuot. It never ends.Goddess help me! Keep me from utterly and bitter

      Potatoes, unemployment, maps
These aren’t news jokes, they’re just joke jokes. Sometimes you have to write joke jokes. And sometimes you have to update your blog. When those times meet, you get this crappy post. So, I’m currently unemployed. I do almost nothing during the day, which is not terribly different from life when I was employed, except that I’m even less likely to go out at night. I just sit around at home, eating and digesting. I’ve gotten really good at me. Friend of mine called me and asked, “Yo Dave, what are you up to tonight?” I said, “I’m eating a giant baked potato and taking a giant crap.” And I said that fully looking forward to both parts. He said “I’m going to a huge party with a lot of babes, you want to go?” I said, “I told you, I’m busy.” I’ve been meeting a lot of people from other places lately. I met a guy from Michigan and asked where in Michigan he was from. He said Michigan is shap

      Unemployment Rate Climbs to 4.6%
A four month high unemployment rate of 4.6% caused by employers adding fewer jobs in January.  The Labor Department said the job market got off to a shaky start in January, but is still in decent shape. There where an approximately 111,000 jobs added in January, which is short from the expected 150,000 new jobs, and is the reason the unemployment rate increased from 4.5%, in December, to 4.6%.  The last time an unemployment rate of 4.6% was registered was in September 2006, while October, November and December put out added a pretty decent amount of jobs. Bush has tried to ease the workers’ anxieties by giving some economic speeches this week on finding and keeping a job in a market that relies on skill, flexibility and education.  However, the Democrats are pledging to help the middle class by raising the minimum wage from $5.15 to $7.25, which will be the first minimum wage increase in 10 years.

Review of Looking at Possible (as in Really Soon) Unemployment
The second post in a row that has nothing to do with any kind of entertainment. The second post in a row about the lameness of my incredibly lame and getting lamer life. I will tell you honestly, faithful readers, I haven't been reading, or watching so much. I've been stewing and brewing ideas in my strange little brain. Facing unemployment will do that to a person, I've found. So here's another "personal" post and I'm pretty sure it will be the last one …for at least a few days. Hehehe. But first. Am I the only one who hasn't made the switch to blogger beta? Am I so lame? Have I fallen hopelessly behind the times and the chances of me ever catching up are miniscule at best? Uh huh… I thought so. Blogger Rightnow can bite my ass… every time I've gone to post, there has been some sort of problem. I read that a technician or someone like that has apparently been "notified", but do I ever hear from a technician? HELL NO. Does anyone ever explain to me whatâ€
