By Mike GibsonThere are very few people who understood my love of Temple football more than my Dad.He was a guy who grew up a big Penn fan, went to Roman Catholic High and graduated from Villanova. As a kid, around 10, he'd always send me off every Saturday with a couple of tokens so I could catch a couple of buses, a train, whatever, to Penn, Temple and Villanova football games.I was a fan of all
"I grow old … I grow old … I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled."Suddenly the realisation sinks in. No more will I have to explain these lines to anyone. Nor will I have to look for their meaning somewhere, in someone else's 'closer' reading. I seem to have understood. Somewhat.Dot. Dot. Dot. Look carefully.Measure your steps. And start walking backwards. And now, without turnin
Sometimes we kid ourselves by thinking we are really trying to understand while we actually are filling our heads with our own images, our own maps, our own declarations that are meant to clarify what the other person means. More seldom do we dare to seize the moment, empty our head for a short instance and just devote ourselves to truly understanding and taking in the other person’s view of thi
by: Markus ErikssonFor sure my own parents never said anything to me about this fundamental shift of focus that moves your relationships either toward greatness or deflatness. Once my eyes were opened to it I have never looked at a human interaction the same way again. My eyes were first open by Bo, a good friend of mine. He offered this perspective on relationships, well on any meeting with anothe

Példaképe a szintén texasi énekesnő, Terri Hendrix, akivel szintén régóta adósa vagyok a kuckó látogatóinak.Tömörítés/Bitrate: 320 kb/sLetöltés/Download: [ Fast-Load ][ ShareUA ]Jelszó/Password: levente
The grandmother of one of Rooster's daycare friends passed away a few mornings ago.Rooster's friend has two older brothers - one is nine and the other is twelve.Until about six months ago, their grandmother was actively involved in this family's lives, regularly taking the kids to the zoo and often out to dinner. When I picked up Roo today, I stood in the play yard talking with the children's mother. We talked about her husbands grief and the way grief just goes on and on, coming and going like the ebb and flow of ocean waves, rising and falling. We talked about how her children were reacting to the news. She thought maybe it hadn't fully hit them yet... or that maybe it had.The nine year old keeps asking not to talk about it.How we hide from hurtful things.Talking about her children's react
Bush's plan for global warming? Wait until 2025. Only then, he said in a Wednesday speech, should the US cap greenhouse gas emissions. Germany is not impressed. Patrick McGroarty Spiegel Online International - April 18, 2008 Original URL US President George W. Bush is in no hurry when it comes to global warming. When it comes to global warming, much of the world has been resigned for years to waiting out the end of the George W. Bush presidency. Under Bush, the White House has altered climate change reports, spiked global calls for action and maintained that it would simply be too harmful to the US economy to address the growing dangers of a warming climate. With just months to go before Bush makes way for his successor, the US president on Wednesday (more...) once again con

Lately i have seen and heard alot about the Church of Scientology mainly because of it's connection to Mr Tom Crusie the celebrity actor much adored by fans all over the world. This account is my own opinion and mine alone and having been a member of it's elite group the Sea Org,i just want to write a little about the church and not so much my experience there. My account is one of an overview of the beliefs the church has upon it's members and also what i see as it's failure a failure that has led to it's enigmatic not well understood or received profile by the world at large. The Church of Scientology is very isolated, something that it works hard to be.It is secretive and tends to undermine other church groups by portraying itself as the only source of truth of authority on spirituality, mor
Catholics offended by the anti-Catholic comment made by Mr. Henry F. Knight which was posted at the Blog for the Cohen Center for Holocaust Studies at Keene State College are still awaiting an apology. Mr. Knight has referred to, "traditional forms of anti-Semitism in Church teachings or its liturgies."By clicking on the link above, you will be taken to yet another article which refutes this spurious claim. The Cohen Center should promptly apologize for Mr. Knight's anti-Catholic remark. Failure to do so will only serve to diminish the credibility of the Center. A credibility which has already been tarnished. As part of a comment left at The Keene Sentinel Blog thread entitled "Richmond: A Town Divided?", a Catholic layman named Dale who is a regular reader of this Blog wrote, "If Keene State College isn't anti-Catholic, why has the student newspaper, The Equinox, published an article titled "Town residents express concern about Catholic group"? The article may be found here: www.keene

I grew up in a time and country that mocked Americans. Like many children, I didn’t question the status quo. I had my own views but didn’t voice them. I knew that adults were unable to appreciate the joys of a good Western and that American cartoons were infinitely superior, rather than ‘absolute rubbish.’ [translation = trash]One of the clues that I gleaned about Americans was actually a mistake. It was my mistake. I disliked titles. I accepted Mr and Mrs. Salomon as a title but I wasn’t much taken with Lord and Lady MacIntyre. I wasn’t overly fussed with the ‘Lord’ bit, but ‘Lady’ stuck in my throat. [translation = craw] I felt similarly about Queen and Princess, as even at that age I was biased against stinky pinky. I had learned that the colour blue, indicative of the male species, became associated with boys a long time ago. Blue, or the dye indigo, was expensive and rare. It was used to dye the robes that little boys wore. This meant that when
Who And What Is Responsible For Global Warming?Scientist Says Global Warming A Bunch Of Hooey...Reid Bryson, known as the father of scientific climatology, considers global warming a bunch of hooey. The UW-Madison professor emeritus, who stands against the scientific consensus on this issue, is referred to as a global warming skeptic. But he is not skeptical that global warming exists, he is just doubtful that humans are the cause of it.There is no question the earth has been warming. It is coming out of the "Little Ice Age," he said in an interview this week."However, there is no credible evidence that it is due to mankind and carbon dioxide. We've been coming out of a Little Ice Age for 300 years. We have not been making very much carbon dioxide for 300 years. It's been warming up for a long time," Bryson said. The Little Ice Age was driven by volcanic activity. That settled down so it is getting warmer, he said.Humans are polluting the air and adding carbon dioxide to the atmosphere
I arrived in Spain for the first time in the summer of 2005, not speaking a word of Spain beyond the compulsory hola, adiós, siesta, and arriba, arriba, ándale (the latter isn't even used in Spain –– damn you Speedy Gonzalez). I was here as an anthropology student studying at the world famous Atapuerca archaeological site. From the moment I set foot in Barajas Airport in Madrid the communication problems began. Armed with phrase book in hand I asked a passer-by in my very broken Spanglish for directions to the bus station. Since, my first attempt was a stillbirth I decided to ask again –– "Downday aystaw la station day awtobus?" This time I got a reaction but it scared the bejeezus out of me. The words coming out of this person's mouth sounded like rapi
How do you measure the credibility of a site? By the quality and accuracy of its content of course! But, isn’t interpretation of that content important too?
I don’t think it is a secret to anyone that I’m dubious of much of the “chicken little” type of reporting about the current housing correction. I showed in [...]
A chum of mine, [translation = British] refers to her daily life with her autistic child as ‘Groundhog days.’ This refers to the film where the actor repeats the same day of his life, again and again without apparent end. Parents of young children often repeat the same life lessons until they are acquired, but for autistic children the process may take longer.Last summer one of my boys had a chance encounter with a bee. The bee and my son were outside the house, in the garden at the time. [ translation = a rare event, now sadly, all the more rare as a consequence] The bee did not attack him. As my son floated in the pool so did the bee. The bee was in it’s last death throes when they happened to come in contact and it stung him. My usually silent son, made known his condition. Fortunately he removed himself from the pool prior to his quite reasonable meltdown. [translation = otherwise he and the bee might have come to the same untimely end]He survived, the bee did not.
What are Blogs?Having heard the term previously but not having paid much attention most are just to afraid to show their ignorance and ask the question, what is a blog? Lets face it; the term blog does not conjure pleasant images.Blogs are web logs that are updated regularly, usually on a daily basis. They contain information related to a specific topic. In some cases blogs are used as daily diaries about people's personal lives, political views, or even as social commentaries. The truth of the matter is that blogs can be shaped into whatever you, the author, want them to be.Where Did Blogs Come From? The roots of blogging can be traced back to the mid 1990's. Who the very first blogger actually was is unclear, as the art of blogging did not really take hold until 1999. The original "weblogs" were link-driven sites with personal commentaries. The very first blogs were human guided Internet web tours. While initially thought of as diaries or online journals, blogs have evolved into the
