As always the UK is behind the US with getting TV shows, and we are only about halfway through Jericho. Season 2 has been confirmed in the US and starts in February 2008. The star of the show is Skeet Ulrich, well I suppose there is more than one star, but hes the one I am concentrating on. In his earliest screen appearance was an uncredited extra in films Weekend at Bernie's and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. After joining the Atlantic Theater Company as an apprentice, Ulrich performed with the group, which got him noticed yet again, this time by director Stacy Cochran. She cast him in a CBS School Break Special. With her help he also received his first notable role on screen in 1996 as the loutish boyfriend of Winona Ryder in Boys. That same year he appeared in The Craft with Neve Campbell. He starred with Neve Campbell again in Wes Craven's hit slasher film Scream released later that same year which became his best known role. In 1998 he starred in The Newto
Artist: Ulrich SchnaussAlbum: GoodbyeYear: 2007Genre: Ambient, Electronica Description: Melodic, extremely listenable ambient music. It has elements of trance and downtempo, but is definitely ambient. Slight female vocals like some of the more ambient Bent. (more…)

Ulrich Schnauss' third studio album, Goodbye, has just arrived. In the wake of its relese Filter27 contributor Florian Wizorek caught up with the man from Kiel, Germany, who now lives in London to talk music, inspiration, and philosophy of life.
Hello Ulrich. We had to wait for your new album for quite a while. Why did it take so long?
I had to deal with some extraordinary difficulties. On one hand I started working on this album later than expected as there had been too many interesting gigs and remix opportunities I wanted to accept. On the other hand I had a very clear and precise vision what the new record should sound like. Finally I made it though and I am quite happy and satisfied with the results.
An appropriate record label always plays a major role. Which label-related aspects are important to you?
It is important to have at least one person always at your fingertips; a close label contact, who can understand you and follow your train of thoughts. For a year Dave Boyd
The count of suboptimal publications is alarmingly high in times where releases are merely acting as a makeshift to sell more or less skilled entertainment abilities such as live or DJ gigs. On the other hand real quality music rarely disappoints and rescues people from that swampland of instant-soup-like music, produced by just adding hot water.
Such a quality album just arrived the shops as Ulrich Schnauss, whose music is a small phenomenon already, releases Goodbye. Despite his success story Schnauss still manages to be down-to-earth. In contrast his achievements and his reputation opened the doors to interesting projects already; for instance when contributing additional remixes to Depeche Mode, Destiny's Child or Way Out West.Maybe this success story's recipe is: there is no recipe at all. While other remixers often use same structures, Schnauss' reworks are unstressed, fresh and independently standing creations, often appearing in different outfits and altering moods.

The Schnauss-sound is magnificent. Long strips of gilded harmony, ethereal, reverb-soaked voices and infectious synth-hooks floating over huge, motorik stereo-panned drums. The occasional chime polishes an edge to a shimmer, a shining gong re-washes the sound in gold, a mooning piano announces its fragility. It is thick and rich and booming, whilst pretty and delicate, playing on the tension between twinkling lights and epic expansiveness. It is a magical sound and one that far transcends the sum of its references; still, Schnauss is an allusive writer, no review would be complete without a trawl through his inspirators.
The obvious Kraut-comparisons have been made many times regarding Schnauss’s drum-programming, and it’s true, the insistent frill-free pounding (so refreshingly not the fiddling jiggery-pokery of the glitch-nuts) does imbue the music with some of the driving quality of Neu! and Can. Neu! ‘75 might be a particular influence on certa
Ulrich Schnauss’ third album “Goodbye” is his first new release for Domino on July 10th. I’ve been meaning to post this for a little while, but with all of the scare coming about with Jericho’s renewal in question, it got shuffled aside.
Skeet Ulrich made it into the Top 10 of TV Guide’s Sexiest Stars on Television, placing at number 7 for the men. He shares the list with stars from Lost, Heroes and Ugly Betty, all some of my favorite shows on this season.
Considering most of the coverage that Skeet has gotten since he showed up on the scene many years ago, most memorably for me, Scream, it’s not really surprising that with the media coverage that Jericho has been getting he’s made it on the list this year.
I just hope that this means that Jericho’s getting enough coverage to have us see a second season coming.
See the whole list here.

German electronic artist and producer Ulrich Schnauss will release his long-awaited third artist album, Goodbye, through Independiente / Domino Records (US) in July.
After a considerable amount of tracks released under numerous aliases, Schnauss' 2001 debut Far Away Trains Passing By slowly seeped into peoples' consciousness and became an electronic classic. In 2003 he released A Strangely Isolated Place - an album which has become a genuinely word-of-mouth record that truly established Schnauss as an outstanding electronic composer.
According to a recent press release, Goodbye is the end of a chapter in his sound. "I see these three albums as moving closer to something I wanted to do right from the beginning but didn't quite manage," he says. "Merging songwriting and indie elements with electronic music. I've tried to take all the ideas to the maximum."Continue reading "Ulrich Schnauss releases Goodbye">

Unfortunately, my recap of One Man’s Terrorist is going to have to be delayed due to a missing (stuffed toy) puppy and an inconsolable 5-year-old who won’t let me watch my own shows until it’s found….
But, I do have some really great interviews with Skeet Ulrich that came across my feed reader recently that I thought would sate y’all until tomorrow.
Over at ExtraTV.com, Skeet talks about Jericho and celebrity culture, though that photo with the article is a little scary, and the best of in the world has named Skeet the Best TV Hero, and you can log in there and vote as to whether or not they’re right.

While I was stressing and talking about being interviewed for the first time, Winnie over at Watching The View got to see Skeet Ulrich on the show last week, which is about half-way down in the post.
Skeet was there to promote Jericho, of course, and there were a few great nuggets of what to expect in some coming episodes, in particular about Episode 18.
He said that episode 18, which will air in a few weeks, will be a “big deal,” and viewers will learn a little about why Jericho is still there and other mysteries. Skeet said that viewers will get a lot of clues this season, but it won’t answer all of their questions.
He’s been on The View before back in November, but I’ve not been able to sit down and watch the video yet.
I found a video on YouTube for the interview here.
Hat-tip to Watching The View.

Skeet Ulrich, who plays Jake Green on Jericho, was recently interviewed by Terry Morrow for AZNightBuzz.com, and he talks about how Jericho really isn’t that far off the mark in the great “What If” scenario of Apocalyptic Mayhem that Jericho delivers every Wednesday on CBS.
Ulrich says the ideas of what life will be like after such an attack are leftovers from the Cold War era of the 1950s when American schoolchildren were told to duck under their desks to avoid radiation.
“It’s kind of amazing when I hear from (viewers) about what should have happened,” he says.
They discuss the concept of a nuclear winter, and that the advisors that they have for the show work closely with the writers to make sure they’re as authentic as possible, though some of the science used on the show does have its detractors on the internet and elsewhere.
They also talk to Executive Producer John Turteltaub about the critics of some of the technical aspects, and he
