      Highway ugliness
A few more signs please...oh no, I missed one while flying by at 35 mph...what was that about horses? And believe me this pic cut out a couple more, like the ones near the weight limit sign on the pole. More cones please...we are going for severely ugly, not moderately ugly.

Financial stocks are worse than a blind date: You know that they are ugly, just not the degree of ugliness
Recently, I spoke with a friend who wondered if it is time to buy big banks and investment banks now that prices are far from their highs. Merrill Lynch, Bear Stearns, and Morgan Stanley are all down more than 40 percent from their highs this year. Lehman Brothers and Citi are down more than 30 [...]

A Form of Ugliness So Intolerable
As a result of my belligerent disinterest in the world of fashion, I’ve been entirely ignorant of the fact that Little Wolfie has now been moonlighting as the new Kate Moss for the past four months. As part of Burberry’s new campaign to demonstrate their clothes aren’t entirely for Victoria Beckham and people who want a weekend alternative to manmade fibre, Patrick Wolf, Edward Larrikin (then fresh from the sadly late Larrikin Love), Agyness Deyn and a handful of other people that to be honest I haven’t heard of have been appearing in magazines and on billboards all over the capital since June. Shows you how much I get out these days. I’d imagine that using famous musicians is the industry’s way of bringing the label “back to the people”. Oh Fashion, you cunning thing. Beth found the above in a magazine left on the tube. I do like his coat, though am sad to see that retro military clothing has now, inevitably, hit the high street stores.

Homebuilders: Ugliness Is Only In The Eye Of The Beholder
One man’s garbage is another’s treasure. Sometimes it’s quite fruitful to snoop around other people’s dumpsters salvaging disgraced stocks. Lo and behold, I may be gaping at the rottenest of all: Homebuilder stocks. The S&P Homebuilders index has been nailed and hammered over the past couple of years, and is already plummeting 20% six-months into 2007. Many Homebuilder stocks are teasing their historical low price/book ratios, but who can blame the market when you consider: The National Association of Realtors is reporting a nine-month worth of home inventory waiting to burn through. This is a 15-year high. The sub-prime fiasco is forcing lenders to tighten their mortgage lending practice, thus reducing housing demand. Homebuilders are lowering their prices and enticing buyers with perks in order to clear the excess inventory. Homebuilders are expiring and writing off their land options. I know this may sound counter-intuitive, but bad news is good news for

      The Ugliness of Community Living
I've always preferred close community living in apartments or condominiums as compared to landed properties. Sadly quite often at times, some residents just do not have the basic courtesy and civic mindedness that comes with it.It's bad enough for those who neglect to pay their monthly maintenance fee but throwing smelly rubbish at public places when 5 properly spread out bins can be easily and conveniently access is another story all together. Several months back, I even found a rubbish bag filled with leftover durians inside the elevator. The pungent smell was remarkable to say the least. In this time and age, one would think that Malaysians would be more civic minded and have more common sense but cases like these is a testament to just how bad the 'Tidak Apa' attitude thrives among the Malaysian society today.Last weekend I was at Jaya Jusco at about 9.40pm buying some discounted sushis and I lined up to pay at the express lane since it was just 2 items. When it was my turn, sud

‘Orioles Ugliness Won’t End' - More Gloom and Doom?
Well, I just got done reading an insightful article by the Washington Times’ Thom Loverro about the state of the Washington Nationals versus the Baltimore Orioles titled, ‘Orioles Ugliness Won’t End’. Long story short, he asserts though the Nationals may be bad in 2007, they have a bright future thanks to the track record of Team President Stan Kasten & owners Ted Lerner along with his family who have made a considerable fortune in real estate. Sadly, Loverro does not hold the Orioles in the same esteem. “ Sometimes you have to believe what you see. And the more both teams are seen as spring training continues, fans will see how uncertain the 2007 Nationals roster is. Meanwhile, the Orioles appear to have perhaps the best team they have been for quite some time. … "This is talent wise, a better team than any we have before in the six years I've been here," Gibbons said. Well, take heart Nationals fans. Where is all the talent is going to get the Orioles? Zip

Severed Kitten Heads And The War On Ugliness
Well this is my second post in a row that has something to do with law. This is noteworthy because like the last post, it has nothing to do with the body of Anna Nicole Smith. New developments have been made in the story about a man in Pittsburgh who has been accused of mailing his ex-girlfriend the severed head of a cute little kitten. I’m assuming it is cute. It is a kitten after all. He will faced reduced animal cruelty charges because it has been ruled that the animal was dead before he took off the head. But let’s get back to the cuteness, because that is what really gives cause to my outrage. If it had been a skunk or a raccoon, no one would care. Assuming that it would be prosecuted, the punishment for doing that to an ugly animal would be far less than the punishment this guy is going to receive solely due to the fact that his victim happened to be cute. It’s discrimination based on looks, and it is all due to those people out there who go, “awww&r
