UTStarcom's Knick gets renamed AT&T Quickfire for launchWell, that mystery didn't take very long to solve. Remember that UTStarcom / PCD-sourced Knick that was getting shown around at some Radio Shack shindig not long ago? It's still very real and very much on the launch docket for AT&T -- but it's now the carrier-branded 'Quickfire'. Of course, PCD has never been a company to slap its own nam
Sidekick-esque UTStarcom Knick surfaces for AT&TWhoa, what's this? No, seriously -- does anyone in attendance know what this device is? Clearly, we're able to decipher that it's a UTStarcom Knick, and we're also pretty sure it's designed for AT&T, but considering that this is the first time we've ever heard of this thing, we're still a bit awestruck. The very Sidekick-like handset boasts a ful

Pantech UTStarcom TXT8010 shows up at FCCPantech's latest creation for UTStarcom has just reared its head on the FCC website. Pantech has dubbed this QWERTY-toting handset the Pantech Elvis, but the FCC label in the diagram clearly shows that it's the UTStarcom TXT8010.The UTStarcom TXT8010 is a dual-band (850/1900Mhz) CDMA handset with text messaging as its main draw. It's a rare vertical slider with a QWERTY keyboard underneath the wide-load display. The slide-out QWERTY keyboard should make easy work of any text input, and the 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, Brew, and microSD card slot should appease the more technically demanding masses. The design of this vertical slider is attractive, if a bit fat. It'll be interesting to see how well this handset fares in a market full of QWERTY-k
UTStarcom PPC6700 Review - MobileMag: "MobileMag reviews the UTStarcom PPC6700: ‘The UTStarcom PPC6700 is a great all-in-one solution if you’re looking for a do-it-all device. Two caveats are that you will need to be on the Sprint network – one which is reliable when you’re near any main roads and highways, but sometimes less powerful in residential areas. In fact, at my house, only about 12 miles from Boston, I had a sketchy signal and had to move around the building and the neighborhood to get a solid, strong signal. It got much stronger the closer I got to the city or the highway.Overall, I like the speed with which the UTStarcom PPC6700 acts. I like that it’s full-color and that you have the ability to do so many things with it. The Qwerty keyboard is a neat touch and the slightly rounded keys are easy to use. Finally, its size is only slightly larger than my LG phone making it a real option as my only PDA/phone and info device.’(Via MyCellPhoneBlog.com.)
http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2007/08/15/verizon-gets-the-htc-vox-incarnated-as-the-utstarcom-smt5800/'Tis the season for product releases, and we’ve got a couple of gems destined for Verizon’s network to share with you. First up is Verizon’s take on the HTC Vox, known from here on out as the UT Starcom SMT5800. This is, as you may have surmised, the CDMA version of HTC’s slick Windows Mobile 6 Standard Edition QWERTY slider. It’s small, light, and quick, with no touchscreen to slow you down (or speed you up, depending on your preference). The SMT5800 will sport Ev-DO out of the gate, upgradeable to Rev. A whenever the head honcho’s see fit. Other specs include a 2 megapixel camera, 128 MB of flash/64 MB of RAM, microSD slot, and Bluetooth 2.0. Nothing revolutionary, but it’s a solid addition to Verizon’s steadily growing Windows Mobile lineup. Yeah, baby!'Well, more good news for Verizon customers. The Vox is heading your way. No WiFi to speak of but at least it wil
