Bill Gates Donation For RP's Typhoon
I was watching an early Filipino news and Korina Sanchez was broadcasting that Bill Gates, Microsoft founder and the world’s third richest man, donated $500,000 for the victims of typhoon "Frank" in the Philippines. It's good for him to do that to my countrymen but I am really scared because they might not give it to those who badly need it. It's good money already for those who deserves it and

It was no doubt the worst flood to ever hit Iloilo in its entire history!©@tF2008.5 All rights reserved. In Iloilo City:

      Typhoon Frank and Me
Last week June 21, the island of Panay was hit by what I consider is the worst typhoon to have ever grazed Iloilo. First predicted by PAG-ASA to be just storm signal number 1, it suddenly turned into signal number 3. In a matter of minutes there were flash floods throughout the island. At around 8:00 am I left shop to visit my nephew, mat-mat and buy supplies for my sister staying at St. Paul's Hos

So far, more than 40 people from the ferry have been found alive. Some people were washed onto the shore. One of the survivors, Reynato Lanoria, a janitor on the ferry, said that about 100 people jumped into the ocean.

      Typhoon (and MoJo) in China
See that grey cloud? Under all that is me...Wipha's the name, and blowing crap down is it's game. My wife was off from work cause of it, I've cancelled two important meetings because of it and it knocked down my make-shift closet on my terrace... But it is by NO MEANS "Ripping Through The Shanghai Area". At least not the city center.Apparently, my wife checked out the news today and about 200,000 people were evacuated frm Shanghai's suburbian areas yesterday afternoon in preparation for this typhoon. As for central Shanghai, there have been some strong winds and a lot of rain, but, man... People are taking advantage of this "typhoon" and taking a day off to RELAX!

Shanghai faces direct hit from Typhoon Wipha
Shanghai: Tens of thousands of boats and ships returned to harbour in Zhejiang, where beach resorts and sea farms were evacuated and ferry services suspended as Typhoon Wipha - potentially the most destructive storm in a decade - bore down on China's financial capital Shanghai. Some 365 workers were also pulled off the Pinghu oil rig in the East China Sea. "This is the first time in 10 years that the eye of the storm will probably make landfall in Shanghai," said Ding Ruoyang, a meteorologist at the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau. Up to 200 millimetres of rain was expected to pelt the city, while winds could gust above 102 kilometres per hour, prompting officials to begin an evacuation of 200,000 people. "The evacuation includes residents who live in old and dangerous houses, workers who live in temporary construction site structures as well as workers living near the shore," Ding said. "Wipha will hit our province head on and the areas affected would be the most economically

Typhoon Fitow - and its victims
台風9号Typhoon Fitow hit Tokyo yesterday afternoon - with a wallop! Having caused light injuries to a few people and cut out power to tens of thousands of homes on its way here, the typhoon (named after a Micronesian flower) is now ravaging the capital. In textbook terms, it is not a particularly savage one, rating only a 1 out of the storm categories of 1 to 5. However, because it is moving so slowly (about 9mph), it is picking up a lot of water from the ocean and dumping it in buckets on land.Naturally hundreds of airplane flights have been canceled, affecting thousands of travelers.Besides the fierce intermittent gusts that made walking home last night a bit hair raising, the most tangible evidence of the typhoon's power is the trail of trashed umbrellas it is leaving in its wake. From the station platform, to my apartment entrance, it was a battlefield of skeletal umbrellas, cruelly flayed.Still, the forecast for the weekend is sun - with just a little cloud, in memory of all

Did you know that the Portuguese got a head start in the great European exploration of the world because they got rid of Muslims before anyone else?
