The few weeks ago, I turned my TV on and it wouldn’t come on. The red LED in front just kept flashing until it went out and the “Lamp” light turned on. Oh great, my hubby had just took off on a military deployment and now I am without TV.

Washtenaw Homes Sellers can Avoid Paying Extra Taxes Catherine McClary, Washtenaw County Treasurer provides a brief synopsis of the law in the video above. Passage of Public Act 96 enables home sellers to retain two principal resident exemptions for property still on the market after the seller has moved elsewhere in the state. As such, the “Conditional Rescission of Principal Residence Exemption Form #4640 form is now available from the Department of Treasury. Public Act 96 enables a person who has established a new principal residence to retain a Principal Residence Exemption (PRE) on property previously exempt as the owner’s principal residence that is not occupied and for sale by submitting a Conditional Rescission of Principal Residence Exempti

Well, this had to happen sooner or later. With my site receiving well over a thousand unique visitors per day and more than 5,500 page views on average, Google was bound to notice it. What am I talking about? Well, today my other web site, PBB Teen Edition Plus Insider, registered a PageRank of 6 in my FF browser's Google Toolbar. Am I bragging? Heck no. I just want to show you that things like this are not impossible. Even for a blog that's only been less than 3 weeks old.As you can clearly see (click on the image for a bigger version), I just got around to reinstalling my Google Toolbar today and voila, I see that my online showbiz/entertainment gossip site has a Google PR of 6. I tried to double check it by going to wholinkstome.com, but unfortunately, the results for searching who link
It's almost been two weeks since I started the isotretinoin treatment and I can already see the difference. My skin is less oily now, though my pores are still enlarged. Most of the inflammation has gone down too but I think that's mostly because of the steroid jabs that the dermatologist gave me at the first session. I think that the topical antibiotics as well as the ones that I take orally, are also helping in reducing the number of acne too.Other than the improvement to my skin, I'm also noticing the side effects of the treatment. My lips are now very dry and chapped. It is extremely uncomfortable but at least I've been rather vigilant with the lip balm so I hope that my lips won't split because that would not only be annoying but very painful too. I had been using Blistex Daily Lip co
Aside from the herky-jerky internet connection (we were having problems with the satellite dish - I later found out this was the reason why), 12 days in the same place proved to be... challenging, at least for nomads like us who will do anything to be somewhere different all the time even if we had to drive a hundred miles, only to drive back home that night. The Oasis RV Resort in Las Vegas is fabulous. The people who own the cat are going away for a holiday. They put out two week's worth of food for us birds on the bird-table. I managed to eat the whole lot before they'd left and they had to put out some more, which I'm working my way through now. I'm starting to look like Jabba the Hutt from Star Wars!I've eaten so much I won't be able to fly for at least a week, I'd be a sitting duck for the cat but I needn't worry about that because they've taken the cat to a cattery. The cat DID NOT WANT TO GO.The cat realised something was up when he saw them packing their suitcases. He hid under some spiky bushes, but all us birds took great delight in pointing the cat out to the people. The combination of flailing claws and a spiky shrub took its toll on the cat's owners, I imagine they'll be payi
Over the last two week's worth of meetings, W & M CRs have been treated to two entirely different, but equally interesting speakers. Two weeks ago, W & M Professor John Foubert spoke on the studies being done regarding the damage created by the pornography industry. Last week the W & M CRs hosted a proponent of the Fair Tax, illuminating students to the details of the Fair Tax movement and how

It’s been quite a while since I last posted. I’m sad to say that this blog has been quite neglected since I started my new position at ISB. I’ve been so busy, learning so much, that I haven’t had much time to reflect on my non-existent personal life.

A year ago I had about 20 LinkedIn connections and had no idea how to make even 20 more. In December 2007 I made 300 connections in 2 hours. Now my network is 1,400+.The fast and easy way to make 1000+ LinkedIn connections is to declare yourself LION (LinkedIn Open Networker), register with The LIONs' Lair, download a list of LIONs, import it into LinkedIn and mass-send invitations. And wait. Your 1,000 connections will come in two or three weeks. To grow our networks more we need to find other ways because the number of LIONs is limited and will always be. Zale Tabakman has posted some advices on how to generate 100 LinkedIn invitations a week. Ok, I haven't generate so many but Zale's post is obviously helpful. But having a large network and getting use of it are two different things. I'd
It's hard to stay on top of updates when I'm not in the land of kimchi. However, I do try to maintain a connection to Korea with my life here back home. For example, you saw my post about the locally fermented kimchi. When I am teaching, I always give a short intro about myself. I tell students where I'm from and that I taught English in Korea for a year. I then ask if anyone is from Korea.85% of the time, I have at least 1-3 kids say "me!"...then I like to drop an 안녕하세요 bomb on them and you should see the look on their faces! I've come to the conclusion that Koreans are everywhere...secretly hiding in places where you least suspect them to be. They're taking over...the world! In this one school, one student labeled a Korean student "kimchi boy". Of course, I made the kid apologi

We’ve talked about the effects of stress on health and we’ve even talked about how mild stress channeled effectively can increase productivity. I’ve shared a few times what a huge relief a vacation is to the overall stress of especially work life.
Study after study has shown that Americans are working harder and vacationing less. With the techno world we have, it is a common sight to see people “on vacation” working their tails off while sitting in some obscenely restful place like Belize. I admit that I have tried to work while on vacation. I start out with good, or wrong, intentions of working while I am gone. This is mainly due to some pumped up feeling of self importance that has me believing that if I don’t keep blogging the life blood into our business, it will simply disappear and I will come back and have to start from zero again.
I read that most Americans are working so hard that they don’t even use the vacation time they have earned.
No I'm not taking the piste - Manchester will get it's own indoor ski slope on November 16th when the Chill Factore opens for business in Trafford Park (Next to Junction 10 and the Trafford Centre)The huge complex will have THREE skiing areas, complete with 'real' (i.e. fake) snow as well as as bars and restaurants. A number of skiing related shops, including Quicksilver, will be opening inside the venue. If Skiing isn't your bagthen there'll be a luge/toboggan run, snowboarding facilties and rock climbing. If you dont like doing outdoor stuff then you can sit in the 'warm zone', which is home to most of the restaurants and bars, and get sloshed watching other people do stuff. Chill Factore will open from 10am to 11pm seven days a week. Here's a few videos of the inside, including what looks like a builder coming a cropper on the toboggan run.Whathappenedlastnight Manchester
About two weeks ago Sony announced the PlayStation 3 game Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction was finished and would go on sale on October 30th in America. But fans of the series are in luck, because Sony’s Line Producer, Greg Philips, says:
“Due to some unexpected quickness at the factory, a vast majority of retailers have already received the game. With that, some retailers are choosing to release the game next week instead of waiting until the 30th, which we are all too happy to allow Official launch date remains October 30, but for those who can’t wait to use your trigger fingers on the Tornado Launcher (or any other weapon in Ratchet’s arsenal), check with your local game retailer next week.” In Europe the game is still set for a November 9th release.
In this trailer Ratchet & Clank get a mission from Captain Qwark.

So the next two weeks are going to be intense. The basketball team is starting what our coaches call “Boot Camp.” The coaches got this from Billy Gillispie who coaches at Kentucky and they decided to bring it back to our program. The team will lift weights at about 5:45 in the morning, and then will be running on the track at Pope John Paul High School next door, or conditioning in the gym. Then after that I’ll go to my classes. Then from 12:30 to 3:30 our team will practice. On Friday, I will be leaving to go to Easton, Pennsylvania for a party for my uncle who recently got married to his partner of 23 years. I get back Sunday and Monday we continue “Boot Camp.” Then on Thursday the 11th, I will be speaking at an event for the Gay-Straight Alliance on campus about when my brother came out to me, and my family and culture’s view on homosexuality. Then a couple of days later my mom, grandmother, and uncle will be coming in town because my grandmother

The past two weeks had been busy at work. It had been busy and fun at home. Interests and energy to blog waxed and waned, then washed off among my busy schedule. Therefore, I have a two-week gaping hole in my blog. It happens all the time anyway. It is always hard to self-disapline.
Anyway, in the past two weeks, we have:
1) Watched Contemporary Indian Dance and Tap Dance at the Cultural center
I recently got a new job and I followed standard procedure and gave my current employer two weeks notice before my departure. So next Monday will be my last day and I am in a little slice of hell. I just sit here all day counting down the hours before I can get the hell out. I avoid doing all the shit work I didn’t like about my job in the first place; what are they doing to do fire me? I can’t ask for something fun to do because I am going to be gone in 3 days. Sure I can surf the net, I am practically a goddamn professional at that, but there is only so much you can look at when big brother in the IT department is monitoring traffic.
This brings me back to my point that the whole two weeks notice thing is bullshit. Sure it allows the company time to get a jump on trying to replace me but they are getting 25% productivity out of me max. Is it worth the extra search time when they are paying me the same amount of money to do next to nothing? Plus once they make the announcement to
There's only two and a half weeks left of summer. Pretty soon, I'll be going into one of the most important year of my life. Ooohh... Scary...
I think this summer is great. I learned things that I never would've learned if I didn't go to work. I met different people and developed different views on things. Most of all, I made great friends whom I will miss over the year. Thank god for
Richard has two weeks of wicked pent up inside him, and I am feeling it. I woke up this morning wondering if I'd had the hottest dream of all time, or if I'd really been fucked that hard and that long without ever completely waking up. Have you ever been in that state between dreaming and waking, not sure of who you are or who is fucking you or even what language you speak? And waking up in
I intended on doing a photo blog of my new dog, Shortie, or who Alfred and I affectionately called "Stupid". But, unfortunately, that will never be.Last Friday my beloved dog of whom I had just a mere 2 weeks was brutally murdered.By my other dog, P.P.I know, we have some odd animal names.I don't know where I'm going with this blog, and I suppose this once I'm not really writing to entertain - just more to write I guess.I've lost animals, I've had animals for months that have been killed by coyotes, or run over, but none have affected me nearly as much as the death of Shortie. I looked forward to coming home from school to find him bouncing off the walls with excitement to see me. It was a nice feeling. I've never had that before, with an animal, I mean Al bounces off the walls all the time for me. But with Shortie I felt like we bonded in that short period of time.He followed me around the kitchen, or hell, he followed me everywhere and I can't help but blame myself for his dea
Wow. I am so excited. For the next two weeks, starting manana, all I have to do is be Richard's good girl.
Well, technically, I have several big projects to complete, but I can do these almost completely at home. As Richard said, "No problem. You can type in chains."
Wheeeeeeeeeeee.
The kids are going away with their father for two weeks.
We've had them for the last week. We adore them
What I think:Tomorrow morning, my girlfriend and I will be off on holiday for two weeks. We'll be staying with mates in London, then jetting off to Montreal, my home town, on Friday.Coincidentally, a mate of mine from the UK will be coming to Helsingborg tomorrow. Good result; he gets a free place to stay, and I get someone to look after my flat (US/CAN: apartment, or perhaps condo, since it's bought) and feed my cat while we're away. Here's what he looks like: I feel totally confident.Actually, that photo was taken during a rather long and tedious night out for him, so we can excuse his demeanour on that evening. He's usually slightly livelier than that. We'll be away until July 6th, and I can't guarantee any blogging during this period of absence. In the meantime, feel free to educate yourself with the A-to-Z of Helsingborg. Or have you seen the latest Top Toilet Tips yet?And whatever it is that you decide to do, don't do anything the Swedish government might do something about
Oh man....we saw so much during theese weeks, that is why our feet hurt so much afterwards also... :/We started our trip in Genova, where I had to work for two days before we could start our travels. But then I had about half a day to walk around in the city, get lost inte old town, and really feel that I am in Italy. Our trip continued to Pisa, to see the famous leaning tower. The tower was a lot smaller than I had imagined it, and I was a bit suprised. But the courtyard with the dome and the leaning tower was still a beautiful place all together. Our trip then continued to the beautiful island Elba. I really wish the weather would have been better so that we could have spent some more time there, swimming, riding a scooter around the island and eating icecream. But we had really bad luck with the weather and without the sun in Elba, there is not much to do. I still want to say that it was a beautiful, beautiful island and I felt at home immediatly. I was so happy to be near the ocean,
This morning my wife went to Japan to visit family and friends. She will only be away for two weeks but it feels long anyway because she is so far away. I feel a bit lonely but the kids will keep me company and occupy my time and attention so I will be fine. The kids? So far they have done fine but they will probably start missing mom soon. I will just take one time segment at a time and try to stay present and rational.Japan is far away from Sweden, according to Climate Care's carbon calculator my wife's flight back and forth costs 2,3 tons of CO2. That is a lot in such a short time. This amount should be what a person spends over a whole year. I bought the carbon offsets that the calculator issued. Hopefully some of the damage will be neutralized by this.
Greetings readers! This is just a quick note to inform you all that I’ll be heading out for my 2 week honeymoon in Costa Rica.
Posts may be a little sparser around here. Not too sparse, of course, but if you send me a contact email and don’t hear back right away, it’s possible I’m either a) relaxing on a beach, or b) climbing a volcano.
Anyway, thanks to all our contributors and readers for making Brave New Traveler such a great place to visit. I’ve got big things planned for when I return…so stay tuned.

Pic of the Day ~ Daddy with Becca & Ethan ~
I am in awe that two weeks have passed since giving birth to Ethan. I knew that it was going to be wonderful to have two children (really or else why would I dare?), yet I did not expect this sense of fulfillment. I feel so content. Like this is right where I am suppose to be.
Becca is adjusting amazingly well. We were not sure what to expect, considering she & I are so close, so intertwined, so Mother … Daughter. Yet here we are two weeks later and she includes her baby brother in her play (”Ethan just pretend to eat the Cheerio, k?”), gives him random drive-by kisses and sings to him when he cries. At first she was a tad more melodramatic than normal, crying a little longer if hurt or frustrated and definitely testing our limits. However that has all seemed to fade as time has gone by and we are finding our groove. Becca has changed before my eyes into a independent almost pre-schooler. She leaves me in awe. The

a 3.5% one-day drop in the S&P 500, the market suffered another 2% decline, triggered by a Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) report of an increase in subprime and prime delinquencies. All 10 sectors in the S&P 500 took a hit on March 13, with the S&P 500 financials sector down themost on the day (-3%). All that is not likely over? From a technical perspective, Mark Arbeter, S&P’s chief technical strategist believes the S&P 500 financials index has broken down on an intermediate term basis on very heavy volume, and appears headed for a test of long-term support just 1% below current prices. Near-term investor sentiment in this sector has been hurt by concerns in the subprime mortgage market. Opportunities are seen in higher-quality banks.WB BAC C See also previous posts in Financials.Look over the shoulder of the best investors in the world as they discuss the topics :forums
Only two House polls today that I'm aware of, and neither poll alters the chart so I'll omit it this evening. There's a mini-controversy to relate in one race, plus there are some leaked(?) spreadsheets containing information on how the NRSC and NRCC rate the most competitive seats.
CT-04 (University of Connecticut, October 16-22, 805 LV, MoE +/-3.5%)
43% Chris Shays (R) (Inc.)
43% Diane Farrell (D)
Shays is the most endangered CT incumbent this fall, imo.
KY-04 (Survey USA, October 21-23, 466 LV, MoE +/-4.6%)
46% Geoff Davis (R) (Inc.)
44% Ken Lucas (D)
7% Brian Houillion (L)
Yet another poll showing this race to be extremely close. Davis has led all of the polls in the past month, however, and neutral observers are crediting him with running a very good reelection effort.
This survey has an equal percentage of Republicans and Democrats, which contrasts to the district's actual 53%-39% registration edge favoring Democrats. I'm not too concerned about this, as
Exactly two weeks from now, we will know whether the majority of Americans have decided that our freedoms and liberties will be collateral damage or if they want to crawl out of the hole the Bush administration has placed us in.
Right now, the Right is frightened of losing their single party national government. How frightened are they? Enough that the far Right Wing organization "Progress for America" has started running an ad exploiting the fears of a nation. The ad warns that ONLY the right can protect us against terrorism.
Okay, whatever they say. But let's take a look at who has actually been terrorizing the country for the past five years. To terrorize someone, you have to instill fear. If you ask me, the Republicans have been doing a grand job of frightening millions of Americans. The odd part - although not unexpected - is the right really starts trying to scare Americans the closer we get to an election. Don't they have anything else to run on? Are they actually

Some of my sorority sisters from the local alumnae chapter took me out to eat in Asheville this evening. We ate at the Tupelo Honey Cafe in downtown and started with an appetizer of fried green tomatoes. As long as I have lived in the South, my first time tasting fried green tomatoes came two weeks before I move north! The server popped a bottle of Champaign and we toasted to my new adventure. As always, my sorors were a wealth of information, knowledge from experience and support. And I shared with them my personal thoughts, hopes and expectations. My expectations ... I am expecting to not know what to expect. I hope I am prepared for most things. And I think I will be fine.I have no idea what is going to happen, and I love that I am going to experience that. Even if nothing goes the way I want it to go, I know that I will look back on this time and be glad that I did it. I would rather regret failing in New York City than regret never trying at all.I am not moving to New York just to
Now considering breast or bottle feeding might have been a longer decision making process for you. As for me, I was sure right away that I wanted to breastfeed. It seemed the natural thing to do. And most likely many of you thought the same way. Also, you might be aware of all the great benefits of breast feeding such as the anti bodies that your baby receives with your breast milk, the bonding time with you, and the weight loss help just to mention a few. Basically, we heard of all these benefits and our decisions were easily made. Off we went onto our venture to a happy baby future. How beautiful is the first feeding? As you lay in bed after delivery, exhausted, excited about your newborn, you might be very proud of yourself as you offer him your breast for the first time. It is your way of connecting again after the umbilical cord was just cut minutes before. It calms you down, knowing that everything is alright with your newborn. Then he sleeps for a long while. He wakes up, eats so
A quick point of clarification today as we approach the end of July. Joining YourParkingSpace.co.uk is remaining free of charge for the forseeable future, likely to be the next two weeks, after which point the dreaded membership fee may be brought in. Over two months and they are still in there. YourParkingSpace isn't even that old.
