      Turn Back Because
One of the most asked questions by people on an ongoing basis is, ‘why hasn’t God answered my prayers or answered them my way’ and then this is usually followed up with, ‘why does God allow problem after problem to keep happening to me’? I am sure that we can all think of a bunch of different ways to answer this, however, if we examine the following it will go a long way to helping the g

Can't turn back the clock on stripping our civil liberties
AC GraylingAs we spiral toward a “Minority Report” meets “Children of Men” society, AC Grayling, a philosophy professor at Birkbeck College, University of London, examines Western governments' inclination to impose more laws in which crimes and acceptable human behavior are redefined. DNA databases, retina scans, CCTV, detention without charges and surveillance all play a part in the continuing erosion of our civil liberties and further pose risks for abuses. Should we follow the now outdated “if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear” argument? Let's ask Jean Charles de Menezes before he gets on the tube in London. Oh, wait. He's dead.By AC Grayling For The Guardian In the current debate about the erosion of civil liberties, a stock claim aimed at dampening the ard

If She Could Turn Back Time (Or, Leave It to Cher)
Not like I ever have to say "I'm Sorry" for extreme homosexual statements or stories or retold incidents...but this next entry might need a "this-is-too-gay-for-words" apology.Last night, Cher was on Nightline. She weighed in on the upcoming presidential election as such - in her typically candid manner:"I love Hillary. I know her and she's a strong woman. I want her to win. I really like Obama - I think he's a great speaker. But he doesn't have enough experience and that's scary to me."The interviewer was about to ask her to clarify a little when Cher jumped in with:"Look, there was a guy I loved - I really had hope for him and what he stood for. I had dinner with him when he first got to the White House. It was sad what happened to him - he was a great idealist and he got torn apart

      Turn back the clock
Gray is definitely out. The folks at Microsoft bathed Windows XP in color. Don't like XP's look? To switch back to the Classic look that resembles Windows 2000, right-click the desktop, select Properties, click the Themes tab, and choose Windows Classic from the drop-down list. Voilà! You're back to comfy shades of blue and gray--not to mention having all those familiar icons.Click "Switch to Classic view" in the upper-left corner of the Properties dialog to bring back the familiar Control Panel icons of earlier versions of Windows. To get back to a Start menu that looks more like Windows 2000's, right-click in an empty portion of the Start menu's left-hand column, select Properties, and go to the Start Menu tab. Select Classic Start Menu. To bring the new look back, just reverse these steps.

      Danger: Turn Back
As a general sort of rule, I try not to share too much in the way of bad news with anyone As a general sort of rule, I try not to share too much in the way of bad news with anyone.  Even on this blog, which some would consider a diary, I tend to focus only on the trivialities and humor of day to day life rather than the mundane and largely depressing realities of it.  I’ve even mentioned it before, albeit a fair while ago and only in passing, that I try to make it a policy not to pass on news of the gloomy and disheartening lest I saddle someone with a few hours or days worth of melancholy and glum.  Naturally, the reason behind my reluctance is very simple:  I wouldn’t want to know either.  I tend to work very hard at avoiding exposure to all the bad things in this world.  Perhaps it’s just pessimism, though I fear it’s far more likely to simply be an unusually clear grasp of reality, but I feel that there is a tremendous amount of “badness” in the wo

Turn back, carry on, keep learning
That Live at the Old Blue Last TV show with Jammer performing some songs (which I talked about last year) is now online. Watch it here.To accompany the above show, I had to write some blurb and find some links, and came across the above clash from Lord of the Mic, which I haven't seen in years. I seriously need to dig out my copy of the DVD.Thanks to the wonders of YouTube (and the people who have enough time on their hands to upload all the old footage), you can now also watch the Top 30 reloads at Eskimo Dance. See part 2 here. It's pretty sad seeing how good grime raves used to be. There's a five part series about Houston rap on VBS.TV. It's really good. You should watch it. Also check this quick interview with Devin The Dude. Quite funny if you like that kind of thing.

Stock Option Backdating: Turn Back Time
Every now and then you come across some scandal in the news about stock option backdating. Media ranting about how the company management cheated the investors by backdating the stock options. Whether you understand stock options backdating or not, one thing you know for sure, that a bunch of crooks did something wrong and tried to dupe everyone and finally got caught. If you are not aware what that means or vaguely understand it...this would be good time to get it right. Some executives would love to turn back time when it comes to their stock options. Do you know why ? Pretty straight-forward actually. The day the option is granted, some executives would love to backdate them, that is set them to an earlier date when the stock was trading at a lower price. What is the Result...Instant Profits !!Lets explore what options backdating is and what it means for companies and their investors.Company Do's and Dont'sCompanies can issue and price stock option grants as they see fit, but this
