No thanks to God on Turkey Day
These days there are posters in the buses that read, "Why believe in a god when you can be good for goodness sake?" Released just before Thanksgiving, these are meant to start the practice of taking God out of the holiday and promoting atheism. First of all, one does not need to believe to know that there is God; one simply needs to think. (Cfr. philosophical proofs -of-god.html )Then, there are

      Turkey Day!
Today is Thanksgiving! A day of giving thanks to all of the things in life that you are thankful for. It is also a day when you have to detach yourself from all of you perceived "problems" and realize how lucky you are as a human to be alive and well. I consider myself very lucky to be where I am today (not in any sort of self-important way).1. I am thankful for my family. They have been so incred

A-Rod Ditches Kids On Turkey Day For Madonna
According to his soon-to-be ex-wife, Cynthia Rodriguez, Alex Rodriguez has his priorities - and they are not his children. In an email she sent to a confidant (obviously not much of one since the email has gotten out), she said “My 6-foot-3, 220-pound soul-less, soon-to-be ex-husband is abandoning his kids on Thanksgiving to be with Madonna . . . turkey day
so turkey day for me was filled with lots of drama. well isn't that just fun? Everyone needs more drama on top of more drama and the holidays and family on top of that. all this crap for a deep fried turkey, i swear it wasn't fun anymore. stupidness and the fact that people want to hear what THEY want to hear and not listen to you really pisses me off. Why am I even doing this? God didn't you just guilt me into it? WTF? Could you try to be I dunno just a little bit appreciative? I guess not. This is why I hate the holidays. so this is the damn bird being injected. No it's not that happy.this is the oil being heated up.Ok so i'm trying to get to grandma's house, first of all which was a horrible idea to move it there, because A. Grannie's a vegetarian and doesn't exactly want all these dead animals being cooked or deep fried in her house. I can respect that, it's her house after all. B. my crazy aunt wants to cook...dear god...last time it was bad, i don't know what they did,

      Turkey day with the mouse
Happy Thanksgiving!  This year was a rather different thanksgiving for than most of the previous thanksgiving.  This is the first year I have been unable to go home for thanksgiving, in fact I worked Thanksgiving Day.  I didn’t think it would be that bad, but on my way to work it really hit me that this is the one time of year when all my friends have gone back home, and I was not there with family and friends.  Although I did feel kinda sad to think I wouldn’t be spending this thanksgiving at home, it still turned out to be a pretty good day.  At work each area was given turkey, ham and drinks, while it was up to us to bring the rest.  So it was nice to be there during breaks sharing good food with our fellow cast members.  Not to mention that as a college program participant we had our own thanksgiving dinner the previous night, there were so many of us that I think my friends and I must have waited about 30 or 40 minutes.  Probably the thing that made working on thanksg

Turkey Day Not Good For Long Term Goals
Today’s “feast” was the first holiday in my life when I was actually concerned about my weight. I think I held up pretty well. I avoided the appetizers other than a few pickles and some raw broccoli. I skipped out before the pie was served. And I managed to take relatively moderate portions of everything else available. Still manage to have both turkey and ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing and green bean casserole. It didn’t look like too much sitting on my plate, but I sure felt full afterwards. Having not actually felt full since dedicating myself to lose 50 pounds a few weeks back I must say it was a good feeling. The fact that it only lasted about 15 minutes tells me that I still didn’t really overdo it. Still, I’m glad I’ll finally be able to join the gym come Monday where I can take advantage of their treadmill to save some wear and tear on my knees and feet from all the street walking I’ve been doing. I was down about 6 poun

      Turkey Day Real Estate Investments
Working on potential real estate investments is totally fascinating, and finding deals that fit a profitable formula is both extremely challenging, and extremely rewarding. Currently, I am working on a deal with a local realtor who is also a real estate investor here in Belton/Temple TX. He is trying to get out of the property management business, and owns a number of properties in the area (maybe about a dozen properties). These properties are single and multi-family homes, and are in different areas throughout town. He has a few problem properties in the Temple market, which are a risk to me and my investors, remembering that location is the most important factor in real estate. But overall, he has a good spread of properties, and I am interested in about 3 of those properties. One is a duplex located just across the street from a property I already own, and therefore I am totally convinced of the neighborhood and the ability for this property to produce. All in all, I am looking to

Don't eat too much on Turkey day!
Thanksgiving is rapidly closing in and I would like to wish everyone a Happy Turkey day. As a national day symbolizing the Pilgrim celebration of harvest, food and feasting, let us remember that it is also a time for thanks and praise to God for the food that he has given us. Also hoping that the Thanksgiving dinner of turkey, ham, mash potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pecan pie and all the other good food that comes with it doesn’t give you too much of a belly ache (from eating too much). And Black Friday… who can forget the one (of the two days) in the year where people actually camp outside stores to get the best deals of the year. Tempting as it is with the deals at Best Buy or Circuit City, it is just too cold to stand outside at 4am in the morning — so you won’t find me doing that anytime soon. For those of you who might consider braving the cold, here is a good site to read about the fantastic deals from the major outlets. I have also decided to

      Turkey Day
Well, the Big One is nearly upon us and as I sit here pondering just what sweater dear Dad in Law (DIL) is going to bestow upon us this year, I'm filled with a sense of dread.  I mean, like curled up in a corner of the basement closet under the stairs talking to finger puppets kind of dread. I don't want to go. (Cue Mel Gibson, "They'll take our lives, but they'll never take our FREEDOM!") Ok, so that's a bit over-dramatic, I admit.  But Thanksgiving isn't what it used to be and this new-fangled combined family affair is just short of painful.  Like a compound fracture is just short of painful.  This sort of pain can only get worse once DIL starts playing the Kenny G cds and using big words like "mitigating" and "symposium" and talking golf and electronics. I'll admit there was ONE year during my marriage when I couldn't do it, just couldn't do it.  So I had the dog fixed and claimed that she couldn't be left alone.&n

      Turkey Day Meltdowns
photo by scruff35 Thanksgiving is easily my least favorite holiday for obvious reasons. It’s the one day of the year where the entire point is to eat as much food as you can in front of everyone you know. It’s a nightmare in real life. Last year I tried to do 2 different dinners, only to wind up having a panic attack at my sister’s house and having to bail out before the food was even done being cooked. I remember feeling so embarrassed and upset that day because I couldn’t understand what was wrong with me. This was when I was just learning about anxiety and panic attacks and hadn’t quite nailed it all down yet. Then to make matters worse, the next morning all the girls on my in-law side of the family had to do the early morning shopping. When they were starting to slow down and talk about going out to breakfast, suddenly I started to feel nauseous. Still not sure why I had the reaction I did but knowing it had to do with eating around others, I had to make them

      Turkey Day at Home
Having to prepare the company Thanksgiving feast has its benefits. I worked from home today, which is fairly common for me. But what was so different? Hum, the smell of roasting turkey radiating throughout the home for example! The seasoning for the turkey was spot on. I just made the most amazing turkey gravy from the drippings. I started with the slow but rewarding process of creating

      Turkey Day Photos
We began preparing the meal the night before and didn't finish until 3:00 AM. Everything went off without a hitch and this year we didn't forget to cook something like in the years past. Every year it was something we forgot. One year it was the corn. Now what's a Thanksgiving meal with no corn ? Last year it was the cranberry sauce.I'm happy to say not one child or adult child had the typical holiday meltdown that families of adopted children are so familiar with. Perhaps it was because I instituted a "Group Hug" policy that was enacted as soon as I noticed someone turning on the negativity switch. I'd yell , "Oh (name of child ) needs a group hug and we would all corner the person and give them a group hug. This would cause mass hysterical laughter and everybody knows a person can't be s

Turkey Day Deal: 1k XBox360s for $100 on Amazon
There’s been a rumor floating around for a few days now suggesting that Amazon would be dropping the price of XBox 360s to only $100. While this isn’t a price drop for the system, it is the result of an interesting new promotion over on Amazon.com. Over the next four weeks Amazon will be run four separate votes to pick a deal. Customers will be given the chance to vote on their preferred deal. Up this week, the reason for all the stir, is a nomination for the XBox 360 Core Bundle. Should this deal win, and right now it probably will, Amazon will put 1,000 XBox 360s up for sale at the price of only $100. Not too shabby! The sale will start on Thanksgiving day, Thursday November 22nd at 11am, and will run so long as the 1k systems are still available. If you’re not working hard on T-Day preparations you may want to save a few minutes to try and jump in on that deal. Advertisement: diggIntegrator: digg plugin for WordPress

$100 XBox 360 on Turkey Day?
OK - so the Wii isn’t gonna sell at $100, despite original plans. That doesn’t mean other consoles can’t be cheap right? In fact - it doesn’t even prevent next-gen consoles from hitting the $100 mark thanks to Amazon. Right now Amazon is running a very interesting type of promotion, head over to a special page on Amazon and you can vote for a special deal to go live on Thanksgiving day. What kind of deal? Leading the way right now is the XBox360 core pack for only $100. That’s so good I’d grab a second console just for shits and giggles. If the 360 deal goes through there will be 1k Core Systems for that $100 price tag - totally worth it. Advertisement: diggIntegrator: digg plugin for WordPress

      Turkey Day Sentiment Roundup
Hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable Thanksgiving Day. I am going to try and fight through my food induced comatose state to give a rundown on a plethora of sentiment data points that became available in the last 2 days, and then I will give my interpretation of what this data is indicating. On Wednesday we got the latest numbers from Investor's Intelligence on newsletter writers' sentiment. As one might expect given the continued market rally the Bulls increased to 58.5% and the Bears dropped to 22.7%, for a Bull/Bear Ratio of 2.62. While readings this high have marked tops in the past, most intermediate-term tops have seen Bull/Bear Ratios above 3.0, and in the most recent historical instance where the II figures were rebounding from a Bull/Bear Ratio below 1.0, like our current situation, the Bull/Bear Ratio actually rose above 3.5. That high water mark occurred in June 2003 and only produced a sideways consolidation into August 2003 before that marked surged ahead for anothe

      Turkey Day...
Hi peoples, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I can't say that mine was all that eventful but all of my sisters were there and we had a good time. Check out a pic of all of the girls and my mom. My mom really out did herself on the food. I didn't help as much as I would have usually, I don't think any of us did, and my mom probably made more food this year. Amazing...I tell you no lie. This day was pretty much uneventful which compared to previous Thanksgiving days it is a blessing all in itself. No one fought and no one died (literally) so it was a great night. For some reason I'm feeling like I may want to share some things. So here is what I'm going to do. I'll be back later tonight to post. Until then Smooches...
