Here is my made up version of Chocolate Strawberry Scones…and at first I didn’t think they would turn out very good because I only used a little bit of stevia, but they are actually very good!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE House too! But if you've read my profile you know that I am a sci-fi nerd. You name it, I've fallen in love with it....Battlestar, Lost, Heros, Reaper, Buffy, X-files....And now FRINGE! This however, does not bode well for fringe. MANYof my former Tivo'd favorites now reside in DVD, plot lines never to be fully told. Carnival, Angel, The Invisible Man, Dark Skies, Now an
This pie is not only square, but it is also a twofer: pumpkin and pecan in one. I've often wondered why a pie is usually baked in a round pan. I found this little known fact: colonial women used round pans literally to cut corners and stretch the ingredients (for the same reason they baked shallow pies) according to this link. Here's a little round-up of square pies or tarts that I found this week:
Beer Can Hill is unveiling a new feature today. Every Tuesday a tattooed person or a tattoo artist, whether I’m acquainted with them via the blogosphere or on the street, will be featured.

This week is rice pudding, one of my all-time favorite desserts. I can't believe I used to groan whenever my mom made it when I was growing up. I was missing out. It has since become a Christmas Eve traditional dessert in our family. One bowl gets an almond in it, and that person gets to open a gift. Now that there are a few kids around the table, somehow the almonds end up in their bowls.Rice Clo
kugelhupf, gugelhupf, kugelhoph, kougelhupf, cougloff, kougloffKugelhopf is a German, Austrian, Swiss and Alsatian term for coffee cake with yeast. Kugel means "ball" or "globe", but this cake usually has a hole in it. More doughnut-like, if you ask me.I made this type of cake earlier this year, but it was called Tarte au sucre. I had nothing but trouble with this cake then, but Dorie's version c
rugalach, rugalah, rugelach, rugelah, ruggalach, ruggelach, rugulah or ruggiesOh rustic rugelach. It's fun to say (rug-a-la), delicious to eat, but mine weren't so pretty. Look at these dainty pinwheels from Deb at Smitten Kitchen. Or these pretties from Erica's Rugelach & Baking Company. And of course Dorie's look perfect sitting delicately on the plate.Mine are brimming with filling making
These Pumpkin Muffins have lots of ingredients to please all sorts of taste buds: the crunch of the pecans and sunflower seeds, the soft chew of the raisins, and the spice from the cinnamon/ginger/nutmeg/allspice blend. Although the ingredient list is long, it only requires two bowls: one for the dry ingredients and the other for all the rest, and it goes together fast. These muffins are inspired
This week for Tuesdays with Dorie, we were asked to make Chocolate-Chocolate Cupcakes with a Halloween twist. Although this isn't a cupcake, it does have a Halloween twist.Hannah from BitterSweet was my inspiration for baking this cake in a latex glove. She baked the cutest cupcakes in silicon shot glasses (and I can't wait to try this too since I have these molds as well). Then, I was shopping at
I don't remember what difficult task started it. I was in high school at the time, so it was most likely about standing up to a friend. I brought it up with my mum who, in her wisdom came up with the idea of Brave Day, Tuesdays.
She suggested that whatever I found onerous or too hard, I should save up to do on Tuesdays. And then after a while I should do brave things on Wednesdays too, then

Chocolate Cake + Caramel + Peanuts = YumLast week, I spent some time poking around in an antique shop. I found several things, and I was able to use two of my favorite purchases this week —the fluted tin and the antique whisk. Both are beautiful and still work well. For the tin, I sprayed it, sprinkled it with flour, and lined it with parchment paper. The cake slid out easily.CaramelThis week,

I didn't know biscotti were baked twice even though I've purchased my fair share of biscotti to go along with a cappuccino or latte over the years. Now, I can stroke biscotti off my list of things to try making at home, and I may never buy one again. Traditionally, biscotti are almond flavored, and this version has both almond extract and sliced almonds in it.Tony Fortuna of the Lenox Restaurant g

This baking experience is going to come at you in two installments. That's because this particular recipe from page 48 requires a couple of days to prepare. Hello, and welcome to A Nice Place In The Sun's Tuesday's Question. This Tuesday's Question asks What Type Of Animal Best Suits Your Personality and/or Appearance? If you are not sure what type of animal you most resemble, ask your friends, spouse, family, or pet and I'm sure they will be happy to help. My family would have helped me, but I wouldn't let them near my hammock. However, I'm sure if

Three types of chocolate chunks (bitter, semi, white), salted peanuts, raisins, {with a bit of batter thrown in to keep all the chunks together}. This is really a brownie disguised as a cookie. In the introduction to the cookie, Dorie says these cookies are based on ones at Soho Charcuterie (called Chocolate Globs) and Sarabeth's (called Chocolate Chubbies), and is also a distant relative of Maida
Are you new to Talk To Me Tuesdays? Here's the low down:1. What is Talk To Me Tuesdays? Most of the time I'll do interviews with other bloggers on Tuesdays. However, every once in a while I'd like to spice things up a bit and be inspired by each one of you! To give everyone a shot at inspiring others, I've signed up with Mister Linky to facilitate the logistics of linking several people on one post
Today we say goodbye to our study on Lysa TerKeurst’s book, What Happens When Women Walk in Faith. This last chapter is entitled: Every Promise Fulfilled.Ladies, I cannot believe we are on our last chapter! I feel that I have wandered the 40 years with the Israelites! I am ready to enter the Promised Land…How about you? This walk with Lysa has had both sweet and bitterly convicting moments
I'm slowly working through the recipes I missed before I joined Tuesdays with Dorie and Week 2 of TWD was all about chocolate! Four types of chocolate, in fact. In a brownie. {Actually, the recipe called for 3 ounces of unsweetened chocolate, but I used semi-sweet instead, and it turned out great!}All I really need is love but a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt! — Lucy, "Peanuts"Usin
A bit of malted milk and a bit of chocolate are the perfect combination for these kid-approved candy cookies!Malteds and MiloMalteds bring back lots of memories for me. There I was...the night before my oldest child begins kindergarten...switching around 56 loads of laundry, cooking dinner, grocery shopping, trying to find some sneakers at the store on Labor Day weekend, fitting in a game of bowling with my family...suddenly it dawned on me---tomorrow is Tuesday. As in Tuesdays with Dorie. And there is the bowl of apples, given to me by my friend Julia from chu

Chocolate and raspberries are a classic, indulgent and tasty combination. In this recipe, Dorie freezes them together in a delicious ice cream cake that appeals to the over 10 set!Chocolate “Ganache”The chocolate part of the dessert is basically an unbaked flourless chocolate cake: chocolate, butter, sugar, and eggs. Although it’s called a ganache in the cookbook, technically a ganache is ju
Jeffrey Luppino-Esposito EDITORI am not the owner of a Wii, but I may as well be. For the last decade I have been ducking under Link's fiercest villains, swinging my controller in All Star Baseball 98, and literally steering my way around Toad's Turnpike (especially when I decided to get crazy and access the backwards 'extra' mode with the trucks coming at me). Though these games didn't feature th
It's "please pass your homework to the front of the class" Tuesday with Dorie.....So this time around I chose a breakfast recipe--Cream Scones from page 27 of "Baking" by Dorie Greenspan. I didn't grow up eating scones; in fact, I only knew scones as something that people got at the Fair (to which I had never been). When I finally did try a scone sometime in Junior High or High School, I was not
A healthy cookie that tastes good. I thought this would be impossible, but Dorie comes through again. I even had to stop my health-nut Dad from grabbing the cookie dough before it was even baked! He was excited to have something healthy to eat instead of all the chocolate desserts and pies I’ve been making lately. To make them a little more fun, I baked them in the bottom part of an ice cream con

It’s time for our weekly study of What Happens When Women Walk in Faith, by Lysa TerKeurst. Chapter ten: Roadblocks and Reassurances Don’t you just sometimes shake your head at the crazy things people do? Don’t you just want to stamp your foot and say, “You’re just being mean!”? I love the story Lysa tells in this chapter about the boundary dispute with her neighbor. This story su

Hey, friends! Time for Terkeurst Tuesdays again! This week we are discussing Chapters eight and nine of Lysa Terkeurst’s book: What Happens When Women Walk in Faith.Chapter eight: Refusing To Get Bogged Down in BitternessIs that a million dollar title? It’s easy to say, but letting go of anger and bitterness is not an easy task. Especially, it seems, when our anger is directed at God. Lysa
Bananas, a touch of rum and lemon, and chocolate combine in this delicious banana loaf.Awhile ago I saw a blog post about zebra cake. When I went to make this Black-and-White Banana Loaf for Tuesdays with Dorie, it seemed like the right t
This week with Dorie we’re making pâte à choux, a magical pastry that’s cooked twice (once on the stove and once in the oven), puffs, and tastes so light that you think it could be good for you! Ever since I saw a picture of choux swans, I’ve wanted to make them. And this week I had my chance.Pâte à choux (pronounced “shoe”), also called choux paste, dates back to 1540 and comes from
Since the goal of the Tuesdays with Dorie baking group is to bake through the complete cookbook of Dorie Greenspan’s Baking: From My Home to Yours (a five-year project!), I thought I should start catching up with the recipes I missed before I joined. In the beginning, the group was one: Laurie of quirky cupcake who came up with this brilliant idea. The first recipe she tackled was the Brown Sugar
It's hard to set standards anymore. Questions that used to have clear answers have become intensely vague, blurry lines abound. What is inappropriate for television, what is inappropriate for children, what is the limit on the amount of films Brendan Fraser can simultaneously appear in? Let's try to make a little sense of all this, together. Not too long ago my brother showed me this commercial tha
It’s Tuesday again, friends, and you know what that means! Let’s dig into our study of Lysa Terkeurst’s What Happens When Women Walk in Faith. We are on chapters 6 and 7 this week, and what a blessing they are.Chapter six, God’s Extraordinary Invitation, tells the story of the addition of Jackson and Mark to the Terkeurst family. A simply wonderful story. It brings tears to my eyes every t
A galette is supposed to be rustic, and mine certainly looks that way! Baked in a brown bag, filled with a mixture of summer fruits including saskatoons, blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries, drizzled with pastry cream, and served with ice cream, this is a delicious and easy dessert.Galettes are usually round, flat, free-form tarts with a thin, crispy crust that’s been folded over onto the
This is the second cobbler I’ve made from Dorie Greenspan’s cookbook, Baking: From My Home to Yours, and the second one I’ve made in my life! I’ve made several crisps, but not cobblers. One of my favorite flavors is ginger, and this cobbler includes it in the filling and topping, which gives both a little zing.FillingI’m so glad I planted rhubarb in the garden last Fall since I’ve been
We’re on chapter three of What Happens When Women Walk in Faith by Lysa Terkeurst. This chapter is entitled God Has a Plan. And He does. My first underline: “…sometimes we try to put our new name on our old identity.” (pp 31). Did this resonate with anyone else?I cannot embrace God’s plan for my life and remain unchanged. Yet, old habits and ways of thinking often send me back down the
Nothing beats homemade chocolate pudding. I remember stirring the pot of chocolate pudding (from a box) on the stove anticipating the dessert we would have after dinner. Occasionally, we would have from-scratch-pudding, and that was a treat! In Dorie’s version, the food processor does a bulk of the work. The pot leads by heating the milk and sugar, similar to a sugar syrup. While the pot heats the
It’s such a busy time right now with school out, new routines, packing, camping, travelling, visiting, swimming lessons, and so on. Summer holidays often seem busier than other times of the year, so I always find it nice and relaxing to retreat to the kitchen and bake something sweet. This blueberry pie was just the thing to bring a taste of summer to the table. The filling itself is easy enough.

Welcome to Tuesday's Question! And congratulations to the new award recipients of the You Cheer Me Up Award winners underneath this post. What is difficult about using blogger is when you want to do three important posts at once. One covers another, so I'm going to leave Tuesday's Question first for the beginning of the day, and this afternoon I have a few special friends to thank with another award to post. Moving on, I have a nostalgic Tuesday's Question today, but it should be a fun one. What Sound, Smell, Song, Etc, Reminds You of A Happy Moment Or Person? You know when you're driving along the road and hear a song on the radio that reminds you of someone or something that made you happy? Or when you smell a certain perfume or go to a particular place, it evokes a happy memory ?
As usual, the responses to this past Tuesday's Question were wonderful. I asked What Smell, Sound, Song, Etc, Reminds You Of A Happy Moment Or Person? And here were your responses- Remember those of you reading Tuesday's Questions comments to be sure and visit these bloggers blogs- they're great- just click on the link name, and thank you all for reading~ My good friend Sandee, from Comedy Plus was the first to comment: Great question Ann, but there are so many for me to pick from. Let's see...One of the greatest smells for me is the smell of a freshly cut Christmas tree. It reminds me of my childhood. My parents never had a artificial tree until all of us kids were grown. It was always a freshly cut tree that us kids would pick to celebrate Christmas. We lived on a farm and there was fo

If you haven't watched the video attached to the post below, go right ahead and watch it, it is very cool technology. Here is the video for the Flatwater Tech Folks to watch.I see a flaw with the technology however and that is that people do not take the time to tag or label their photos and they certainly don't geotag them. Some of you might know what I mean and others are scratching your heads wondering what I am talking about. Have no fear I will walk you through the world of tags, labels (Tags and labels are essentially the same thing so I will go with tags to describe them from now on) and geotags. The great thing about the technology from the video is the ability to share experiences with other people from all over the world. I have been writing PayPerPost posts for a while now, close to a full year and they are constantly coming up with new and innovative ways to drive traffic to websites. One of the more successful ventures has been the online photo scavenger hunts. That is something that really got me excited about PayPerPost. Through that I met many other Posties online and learned about there creative blogs. Now PayPerPost has a brand new contest that is getting their Posties all in a twitter. It is called HDTV Tuesdays and for the month of May there are going to be some outrageously cool prizes. For instance tomorrow the contest prizes are a Slingbox, Nintendo Wii, Yamaha Surround Sound System or a Logitech universal remote. PayPerPost is truly one of the masters of blog advertising and there are many imitators. I have stuck by PayPerPost and between writing their paid advertisements and some affiliate stuff that I had done prior to PayPerPost. HDTV Tuesdays is another example of the cool stuff that Pa
I think my readers have seen that I’ve been writing for PayPerPost on my blog some sponsored posts! With Payperpost I can get paid to advertise on my blog, it’s so great! I can talk about things that may interest, thing I love and that could be interesting for me and for my readers, also I can learn about new products and services. Believe me, I have learned a lot with new products I have posted through the PPP. Honestly, Payperpost is a great consumer paid blog network, which has an extraordinary team; you can meet them through the Rockstartup reality show. Here you can watch cool videos. So, what I love best about Payperpost is Tuesday, yah! On PPP not only can you earn money but you can earn great products too! This is unbelievable! Every Tuesday this month PayPerPost is holding HDTV Tuesday, they are adding sorts of cool Audio and Video equipment. Today I saw on board that posties, this Tuesday (May 15) posties can grab a Slingbox, Nintendo Wii, Yamaha Surround Sound System or
Yesterday we went to our interview/showing, at the two bed for 675 and all utilities paid. There was definably a catch. It is small. No dishwasher, and no W/D hookups. One bedroom is the size of our master now, the other one is smaller then the kid's room now. We figured if we get the place, we would take the smaller one that would most likely just fit our bed, and then the other one, we would in cooperate all the boys into. We have a bunk bed, and all we need now is another twin mattress that we can use to tuck under the bunk bed when not in use. Because the bed that Tonka has now is a slug bug toddler bed, as much as I like it, it is an odd shape, and just waaay to big for what we need. So we figured he would be the one to use the twin mattress that tucks away. There hasn't been any applicants on the place yet either, we were the first one's to even look at it, and it's only been available for a week. Which is really cool. We might have a chance at this one, considering we still
Larry: What’s the level of anger here? What am I dealing with?
Cheryl: Well, I’d have to say at least an 8.7.
Larry: 8.7? That’s not that bad. I thought it would be at least a 9.
Cheryl: It was a 9. Then you broke that lamp, and the crazy woman screamed at you, and it got you some pity points.
Larry: Pity points. That’s fabulous, I love pity points. But how can I get to a 7? I know a 6 is out of the question, but is there any way I can get to a 7?
The wonderful people at PayPerPost.com started a new promotion which is '1k Tuesdays' whereby there will be a total of USD 1,000 value in opps or tasks to be taken by members every Tuesday for the entire month of April between midnight and 11:59PM EST. Now this is by far the best earning platform for blogging if you ask me!This USD 1,000 is split into one USD 500 Opp and five USD 100 Opps for this particular week after many members request. Initially they wanted to have only one opp valued at a mind boggling USD 1k but that would mean only one member would benefit from it. This for me is a much better plan and I do hope they continue to do so for future Tuesdays as well, until the end of this month that is.How is this possible you ask? Well this '1k Tuesday' promotion is sponsored by the lovely people at Zookoda which provides email marketing to us fellow bloggers to improve stickiness and readership to our blog. The unique features includes customization of your newsletter and be

Larry: [to various passerby] You know anything about changing a tire? Wanna help me change a tire here? No? I could use a little help. I need a little assistance. I never took a shop class, and I need a little help. Ok, I’m just coming flat out and saying ‘help me’. Anybody want to help a semi-retarded individual change a tire? 25, 30 dollars. 30 dollars to change this tire. 35 dollars to change this tire right now.
[People are ignoring him]
Larry: I’ll give you 10 dollars for a verbal response. 10 dollars. Anybody want to make 10 dollars and respond verbally? No?

Becky: You ate the baby Jesus and his mother Mary.
Larry: I thought they were animal cookies.
Cheryl’s Dad: Animal Cookies? What, are you kidding me?
Becky: Jesus Christ is not an animal.
Larry: I thought he was a monkey.
Cheryl’s Dad: A monkey? Oh, please.
Cheryl’s Mom: Larry, have you no shame?
Becky: The Son of God is not a monkey, Larry.
