On November 20, Malan Breton hosted a trunk show to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity/Fight AIDS in at the Warwick Hotel in NY. Visitors got to talk with Malan while they shopped for clothing from his Spring 2008 collection. Malan was as dapper and charming as ever. We dished about the first episode of Project Runway Season 4. I would be a cad to mention his criticisms of the designers, but will share that his favorites this week included Christian and Jillian. He also talked about the options for his February 2008 fashion show – he might be in the Bryant Park tents next year!Last, but assuredly not least, we looked through his collection together, because I was not going to pass up this opportunity to own a Breton original. While I had attended his fashion show in September, it is a quite different experience to see the clothes up close, feel the fabrics, and examine the construction. The fabrics (silk organzas, mylars, chiffons and sateens) were so luxurious that you had to touch them.

One of the hardest things about loving the novels by Arthur Ransome as a child, was not being able to sail, or even having access to a boat, apart from the occasional rowing trip on the pond in the local park. Novels like "Swallows and Amazons", "Peter Duck" and "We Didn't mean to Go to Sea" were books to stimulate the imagination and let a young reader dream about sailing across the oceans.
The glorious fall day ushered in Mt. Bethel’s 2nd Annual Trunk ‘R Treat on Saturday October 27th! The parking lot was dotted with over 100 cars in a tailgate event fun and safe for the entire family! Trunks and tailgates where decorated with colors of the season, members kept the grill going with over 300 hot dogs, the football game was on many car radios, and the trick or treaters shared in a fun fall evening.
Trunk ‘R Treat doubled in size with an extra 30 cars that walked in for the event…fun was had by all! The Children’s Ministry staff thanks everyone that helped and all the families that participated…we look forward to this event every year…so invite your family, friends and neighbors for this fun fall family memory!

One of the moms in Keri’s first grade class recently asked me what we were going to do to celebrate Halloween. I casually replied that one of the things we like to do is attend our Church’s annual Trunk-or-Treat party.
She looked at me with this incredulous look on her face and asked, “A what kind of party?”
“A Trunk-or-Treat party,” I explained. Apparently this social phenomenon isn’t understood by everyone.
So what is a Trunk-or-Treat party? It is when a bunch of people get together (i.e. through a Church, neighborhood or school organization) to celebrate Halloween, but instead of going door-to-door trick-or-treating, you go trunk-to-trunk trick-or-treating. People park in a big lot, decorate their trunk and hand out candy to those dressed in costumes.

I've only chosen a few bags from the F/W '07 Collection to write about, mainly the new shapes and designs that are new to the House of Fendi. Of course, there are the regular Classic Fendi Bags, such as the Chef bag in Patent Leather, etc, but I've left these out because they are not new shapes. The bags pictured here are slightly more innovative - channelling the edgy, Deconstructed vibe. Most of the bags can be converted into clutches for the evening, however, Imho, the bags from this collection aren't necessarily fantastic looking. On Sunday I went to a really, really big outdoor flea market called The Elephant's Trunk. I take my son there every year for his birthday. He just turned 16. We're both flea market/antique show enthusiasts. This is such a festive and fun place we had a blast and bought some neat stuff too! These three sketches complete my first moleskine sketchbook!! I have another one ready to go, can't wait to begin it. I have to think of a really good place to got and sketch because I always like a new sketchbook to have a really nicely done sketch on the first page. That kind of sets the tone for the whole book.
