It is hard to put a finger on, but it seemed like in this playoff series, San Antonio - no matter how hard they tried - could not find a solution to Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant (then again, who can?). Thursday night’s game between the Lakers and Spurs wouldn’t be any different. [...]
Recognizing that his political downfall is all but unavoidable, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is considering accepting a proposal by senior Kadima ministers and MKs that is intended to allow the party to prepare for early elections while he leaves the Prime Minister's Office in a dignified manner, sources close to Olmert said Thursday.

Scion TC Trumps Civic? As most of you are aware, Toyota launched its Scion division about a year ago in California to try and, well, conveniently discard its reputation as an old-folks car. The xA and xB were launched together – the xA looked like a Toyota Matrix that backed into a big rig, and the xB looked like it was conceived by a big rig designer. Both were essentially the same underneath the skin, meant to be inexpensive utility vehicles for generation Y (or whatever the hell we’re labeled as now). To date, I’ve seen four different xBs, and one xA – and I go to a high school campus, which is part of Scion’s target demographic, and I live in southern California, where Scion first set shop. Can you say “duds”?As most of you are aware, Toyota launched its Scion division a
The nation’s top Democrats are suddenly rushing to appear on the Fox News Channel, which they once had shunned as enemy territory as the nemesis of liberal bloggers. The detente with Fox has provoked a backlash from progressive (socialist) bloggers, who contend the party’s leaders are turning their backs on the base.
this market used to eat food to survive, now eats air and media says is getting healthy, so much pain with credit crunch spreading all over, housing at it's low in years, food supply running out, and the market rallies 400-500 points in just a matter of days? really? can't people see that this market is full of air just like a balloon and soon will pop.
Remember, summer is the hot time for housing, if they keep dropping what can we expect for winter?
last, the FED is against the wall now, if they cut rates they will send the dollar lower, if they stop, its because they know they are screwing things up and making them worst,.
All my positions are short, and just long on energy with the price of oil and the tension between iran/usa, things will get ugly.
Home sales are plunging, 13%+ annual drop, largest since 1970, it’s gonna be another depression, we’re all gonna die—blehhhhhh! Who cares? Yeah you heard me—let the flippers suffer/go bankrupt/in debt, that’s what they get for their utter disregard of historical research and for listening to big talkers like Donald Trump who love to un/knowingly risk [...]

For some reason, and certainly not anything inherited from me, my kids all like to plan ahead. Way ahead. I myself am the procrastinating type and don’t understand their need for pre-planning. Hence, this weekend’s adventures on the summer job hunt.
While one is employed currently, one has a summer job already lined up, and third [...]

If there is one hooker that Ashley Dupree could learn a lot from, it’s Heather Mills. Heather has to be the most successful hooker of all-time. I mean, she is the Spud Webb of hookers (Spud was a really short basketball player). Heather only has one leg to spread, yet she just keeps getting richer [...]

Ashkelon resident Moshe Nissimpor decided that the best way to halt rocket fire from Gaza - in light of what he terms the government's failure to do so - is some vigilante justice.
I have written wanting to know where the people of Israel were when it came to defending themselves when their government wont. Moshe Nissimpor seems to be up to the cause. If the Israeli government won't do it, then
The technically superior solution does not always capture the market. A couple experiences with web services lately have reinforced this idea. The poster child for community trumping reliability is Twitter, which has had noticeable growing pains that have involved extended outages and general flakiness of the service. As I type this, my [...]
Since Mitt Romney suspended his run for the White House and John McCain locked up the Republican nomination I have been hearing some disturbing grumblings from my right-winged brethren, they say that they cannot vote for McCain nor a democrat and thus, they will not vote at all in November.I was one of them, if you look around this blog you will find that we were driving the "McCain is a lying democrat" bandwagon, and hoping that all would hop on. I even said that I would have to consider an independent candidate to vote for. I have since taken a step back and looked at the big picture, I listened to my grandpa's advice when he said, "Drew, I hate to tell you buddy but your thinking is slightly flawed. Party trumps individual. I too prefer Romney over McCain, however if McCain wins we must
The United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit has issued an interesting opinion inBoard of Educ of Ottawa Township High School District 140, et al., v. Margaret Spellings, Secretary of Education, et al., No. 07-2008. The Court affirms the District Court's dismissal of a challenge of NCLB as inconsistent with IDEA but not for lack of standing as the District Court had held. Instead, the Court ruled that NCLB, which was enacted in 2001, must prevail to the extent that there are inconsistencies with IDEA, the portions of which that were at issue were enacted between 1970 and 1990. You can find the decision at court did allow an interesting loophole. At the end of the opinion the Court noted that the challenge was to the entirety of NCLB, and the Court left open the possibility t

Ugh. I tried to get a post out this morning, but I was spending all my time trying to change my little video player into something more versatile. While I like Veeker, there are several things that it does not do, that I need to really make this experiment work. They are:- allow others to upload cell phone videos- allow others to upload video files- display the most recent video full screenToday I found Cellblock, another service that I thought would do all those things and more. Actually, it did all those things, but dropped the ball miserably in other areas. Get this:- auto plays the most recent video, and plays all entries- defaults to mute, which can be changed, but due to the above--annoying!- lip sync on video is offYep, that last one was the clincher. How can I possibly run a blog about any level of filmmaking, and have lip flap? Even if my source is the crudest form of video, if the sound ain't right, I deserve ridicule. So out went Cellblock, even if I spent all morning getti

At $68, BMO is a mighty compelling investment despite competing against raising bond yields. Minus the recent hiccup with the derivative trading losses, BMO has done an admirable job over the past 10 years, when they bought back shares, paid back 30% of their long-term debts, doubled their earnings, and more than tripled their dividends. Check out their dividend history:
In this post, we’ll find out how BMO stacks up against the Canada 10-year bond. However, just to be on the conservative side, let’s assume zero growth for BMO over the next 10 years, and that investors can purchase the bond without a spread.
Currently, BMO is sporting an attractive 4% dividend yield and a cheap P/E ratio of 13. In other words, for every $100 invested in BMO, the stock earns $7.70. Contrast that to only $4.68 for the 10-year bond.
Out of the $7.70 earnings, BMO distributes $4 to shareholders in the form of dividends. A Vancouverite in the 30.65% tax-bracket receiving the dividends w
Presenting the wonderful Lady Tottington. It has been a long haul questioning Lady Totty ( the name has now de-double barrelled as she has finally kept to her word). Today, Lady Totty decided to email me. I fell off my chair with smartees in hand. Was this a Lady Totty email I saw before me? Clearly, it was. This email was extremely coherent showing the lovely Totty ability when she is not stressed. She can actually write brilliant prose. Dated the 5th June 2007 she writes to the British Psychological Society " I understand that there are some emails provided by Penny Mellor from Woolllard@xxx.com as part of the complaint about Lisa Blakemore Brown. As these are dated 2003, I do not wish these to be considered in any future hearings as they are of dubious authenticity. I did not consent for the emails to be included in any complaint and was unaware that they had formed part of the complaint.... "Therefore, thank you Lady Tottington. Save the fact you have singlehandedly lost me my job,

The Production Department of BCDC has been through lean manufacturing training, ISO Certification and with the rest of the organization obtained CARF accreditation. Forecasting the need was genius. Implementing this forecast need was tough. We’re a lean mean get the job done machine.
How sweet, what does this have to do with Toyota imminent toppling of GM status as worlds largest manufacturer?
It has everything to do with the success of Toyota. In a day when Chrysler say they will not sell off divisions and Ford playing the part of an automotive Titanic, Toyota is heading in the opposite direction. Achieving incredible result by constantly improving their processes - Lean Manufacturing.

Ford is unveiling a new high end trim level at the South Florida Auto Show-- in a Mercury. Wait; isn't that kind of upmarket action Lincoln's purview? Not according to the report in The Detroit News. The "VOGA" trim level is set to debut on the Mariner early next year, and move on to other models from there. No, we're not kidding about the name. Despite being an obvious homonym for "vulgar" (at least in Massachusetts), "voga" means "vogue" in Italian. Anyway, according to Ford's NA design chief Peter Horbury, VOGA is "for people who really do care about style." Since the former "Man's Car" is now selling primarily to women, Mercury's going all out[ish] with "fashion-inspired trim." It has "a unique color scheme, embroidered leather and ... subtle clues ... designed to convey a greater sense of style." When the bar is low, "greater than" is a slam dunk. Just sayin'.
