Over on the new forums, waxingandwanding brought a post by bemanistyle to my attention that detailed the release of the latest beatmaniaIIDX title in Japan. In addition to the release information provided by bemanistyle, they have also provided the initial track listing, a break down of some of the new features for the game, and a couple of YouTube! links for easy perusal (one of which is embedded below). With the onset of popular music based titles Rock Band and Guitar Heroes for console gamers, I believe that the arcade scene in America is ripe for some more expansion by Konami in regards to their music franchises. I know that several people have shown the amount of money that some DDR machines are able to make based on their location has the potential to dwarf the income generated by the rest of the arcade in comparison. With the marketability of rhythm games at an all time high, it would seem foolish not to try to take advantage of the appeal.

Currently making the rounds with location tests across Japan and Europe, BeatmaniaIIDX15 DJ Troopers has finally been given a scheduled sale date by Konami. The latest game in the BeatmaniaIIDX series is set to be available at arcades starting in December. Konami intends on showing the game off again at the JAMMA Amusement Show based on initial reports, so we should be able to get another look at the rhythm title then. A series of YouTube! videos of the most recent location test was posted by user landolakes. One of them is posted below for convenience. The latest arcade game in Konami's beatmaniaIIDX series is currently making the rounds this week and next week for a select location test in Tokyo and Osaka. Like the previous games in the beatmaniaIIDX line, the latest title DJ Troopers is played using a basic seven key keyboard and a turntable. Each successive release of the series has branched off the main game by incorporating different themes that are used for both the music as well as the look and the feel of the cabinet. DJ Troopers has a military-esque theme. Through the use of the keyboard and turntable, players compete against one another or against themselves as they strive to perform the "perfect" song. The title is extremely popular in Japan, however, unlike Konami's other Bemani games, beatmaniaIIDX has never really found a comfortable groove here stateside. Unfortunately that's almost always your mission!There isn't a lot of diversity in the things that you need to do, for example, first mission: kill all bugs with your rifle, second mission: kill all bugs with your rifle and bombs, third mission: kill all bugs with rifle, bombs and flamethrower etc. Well at least it makes up for it with nice graphics. However the controls can be really annoying, for instance to place a bomb you need to select the bomb, go into fire mode, select the direction and then move the hell out of there or the bomb will just blow up in your face. I really don't know why you have to enter "fire mode" to place a bomb, and if you don't do it fast enough you'll have bugs all over you

The Honorable Leroy Rountree Hassell Sr., Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia, served as keynote speaker for the commencement exercises.
