If you have noticed lately that many stores are keeping your favorite cough and cold medicine behind the counter there is a legitimate reason for it. Our youth has found yet another way to experiment with substance abuse. There is a new ‘high’ and if you’re hearing the terms Triple C, Skittles, Robo Trippin, Tussin or Dex, you need to pay serious attention. All of these terms refer to using cough and cold medicine or cough syrup to get high. ‘Triple C’ specifically refers to Coricidin HBP Cough & Cold. What causes the high? DXM. At dangerously high doses Dextromethorphan acts like PCP and ketamine. For many years this substance has been as a safe and effective cough suppressant found in over-the-counter cough medicines. But these days, some teens are abusing

Snoop Dogg’s ninth album is perhaps his most progressive one to date. It not only features a vintage ’80s sound complete with old-school synths and vocoders, but also finds D-O-double G pulling triple duty as rapper, singer (!) and one-third of production team QDT. The Shawty Redd-produced “Sensual Seduction” is already a big hit that finds the 36-year-old harmonizing about being “a freak” and “playing in the sheets,” while “Cool” reflects on his fame and posh lifestyle, both via a talkbox. But there’s a refreshing sincerity to cuts like the nostalgic “Can’t Say Goodbye” (”You can’t take the hood out the homeboy,” he instructs) and an ode to his wife, “All Ar

Our TC3 cheftestants smile and laugh more than my grandma at a family reunion. Watching this season is like sitting in a restaurant in Mr. Roger's Neighborhood - the treacle is as sticky as corn syrup. But I suggest that something else might be going on behind those happy visages and group hugs. Here, then, is the subtext behind all that smooching, hugging, and laughing.Brian hee heeing (after hearing Joey describe his dish: "It's like an orgasm in your mouth.")Casey snorting (when Hung says: "It’s all about finesse, style, grace, and elegance.")CJ tee heeing (when Dale described his Quickfire dishes as: "Two of the best dishes I made in the competition.")Dale guffawing (at learning that Casey's coffee mole sauce had a bitter licorice flavor to it.)Joey sniggering (at the thought of Tre punching out stars and triangles for his apple tartini.)Hung is happy that Casey is still alive after he tried to knife her.Howie forming a self knowing smile (after hearing Joey say: "I don’t th
My vacation couldn’t have come at a better time, blogging-wise, because frankly I was running out of material. One thing about being a man of leisure is that not very much interesting happens to me on a given day. Generally this is good thing, because interesting usually means unexpected, which usually means bad news. An ancient Chinese curse goes, “May you live in interesting times.” I’ve been blessed to have avoided many interesting times lately. Even my vacation went basically as expected, which is always nice. Fortunately for my blogging career, cross-country travel continues to get more interesting, in a sort of surreal Kafkaesque way.Diesel's Travel Log11:59 PM (Pacific Time)We depart from the Oakland airport for Chicago/Midway. Remember when “red eye” meant a nearly intolerable trip aboard an excruciatingly cramped 737 with lousy food and laughably inadequate pillows and blankets? Well, those days are over. They no longer give you food, pillows or blankets.

First off, apologies in advance for the exclusive focus on the United States in this post. I realize that many of you aren't from the US of A. Heck, I'm not. But I found a cool article on PubMed and I thought you people might find it interesting. So I've summarized it for y'all. Don't know about you, but I have a tendency to associate drug-containing plants and fungi with exotic locales. Anticancer drugs from the rain forest. Opium from Afghanistan. Cocaine from Columbia. That sort of thing. So when I came across an article on drugs, psychedelic drugs no less, found in plants and fungi that have established themselves in American soil, I was intrigued. Please note that I will be discussing species that are growing wild, not those being cultivated in greenhouses and suburban basements. The short-acting hallucinogen DMT, most often associated with the Amazonian brew ayahuasca, is also present in appreciable quantities in several common species of grass belonging to the genus Phalaris

In just two short days, Lesberada and I embark on our cross country road trip to California. We are relocating to the Santa Monica area and in doing so, will take about seven days to enjoy the sites and visit a few friends along the way. We are taking two cars, two friends, and three cats, and have decided the trip should have an Oregan Trail theme complete with Buffalo chases and covered wagon rides without the dysentary. We will be filming portions of the trip so stayed tuned for exciting video clips. We are driving down the East Coast (much like the route Borat took), stopping first in VA to visit a friend of mine from College. From there we head to Birmingham, AL for a sweet taste of the South and to visit yet another friend of mine from College. From Birmingham we head to Dallas, TX to stay in one of Dallas's Gayborhoods with yet another friend of mine from College thanks to my overwhelming popularity. After Dallas, I will have run out of friends so we will be staying at vari
