Here's a great weekend project that's pretty simple to make: A hillbilly tripod. This small portable camera mount might look more like a glorified hotdog roaster, but it gets the job done. The goofs here at Recueilli found that the whole project from start to finish takes about 30min. The hardest part was finding a screw/bolt that actually, fit into a regular camera mount. To make a hillbilly tripod you need: 1 long screw/bolt that fits your camera mount1 coat hangerduct tapewire cuttersneedle nose pliersRead More for instructions... 1. Use wire cutters to cut coat hanger into 3 equal straight lengths.2. Use needle nose pliers to bend a small "u" on one end of each piece of wire.3. Place the bent ends of each wire on screw making sure you leave enough screw to fit your camera mount. 4. Duct tape the bent ends of wire to your screw as tight as possible. 5. I have one of those cheap bendable tripods that you can get for your point-and-shoot camera. I've seen the Gorillapod which looks to be a pretty good improvement on my cheaper version.I saw this video on creating a cool do-it-yourself tripod though that doesn't look as pretty but would do a much better job than my cheap tripod and would also work for my camcorder. Even better than that is that it costs about $1 in materials and about 10 minutes of your time to make (if you're not very handy with tools).
This device will solve any problems that you have ever had with getting the picture right. You know how it is with uneven surfaces, imagine you are taking a nice family picture, you balance the camera and just as the picture is about to be taken the camera moves slightly and you end up with a picture of the floor or just a load of feet.
The millipod is supposed to be the slimmest tripod around, and it attaches permanently to the bottom of the camera and it is then forgotten about until you have then need for it.
Because you have three legs on the camera you can always find an even balance, which will help the camera stay even.
