I think hometown memories are very important. The people you meet and grow up with and how they affect your life will last forever. Living in Michigan was filled with pleasant memories. If I had to take away a special memory from this time in my life, then I’d say it was Christmas. My brother and I always had wonderful Christmas’s and we were always surrounded by family and friends. I'm a little too tired from practice yesterday to write out a full entry, but I will say that while focusing on leg locks yesterday during rolling, I caught 4 ankle locks and 2 heel hooks. I was proud of myself.Anyway, here is a wonderful video on transitioning from leg lock to leg lock. I feel that these kind of videos are useful to just about everyone, because it opens up many options or remind
This is part two to the reader question...For upward transitions does the rider use both legs together or left leg, right leg with motion of horse? Are the leg aids different for each gait or the same? For an upward transition to the walk, jog, and trot, I will use both legs together. Two legs together will tell the horse to move forward and remain collected. The two legs together will encourage the horse to drop his head and round his back. Using one leg at a time will probably result in the horse being flat instead of round. Some horses are more prone to collection than others, that is why I say "probably". With a lope or a canter, I will use my outside leg mainly. I will move my outside leg slightly back when I ask for the lope or the canter. I will also use my inside leg as a brac

dead animal lying on the street today. Near a busy bend. It was a small animal,
about the size of a cat. I think it was a cat, but it might have been a young
dog. It had clearly been run over or pressed to the road in some other way. This
showed only in its head, as far as I remember. Its head was strangely narrow.
It had been squashed in a little. There wasn’t much blood I could see, but the
jaws had been pressed down and the tongue was lolling out of the slightly open
mouth.
Disturbing, no doubt. However, after the almost one second that I
had glanced at it, I knew that not all of that disturbing feeling related to
the obvious reasons connected with a gruesome death. Or maybe, they connected
with exactly that, only momentarily I had forgotten what feelings were supposed

This isn't so much a painting as it is the exploration of an idea. There's one thing you learn when you've spent your life with animals. They get old way faster than humans do. In a lifetime of working and living with animals, you see so many of them leave this earth before you're ready to let go of them.I can not bear the thought of seeing their lifeless forms upon the ground, but I got to wondering what it must be like for them when they find themselves in another world. This horse is just beginning his new life and coming to the point of realizing things are different now.I myself had a taste of what it would be like to die and pass into another world. I very nearly took that trip and it was a wonderful experience. Very natural, not frightening...full of love.... It gave me a diff

Two tanks: Smooth transitions and maximum cruise range : To offer the longest conceivable cruising range, the BMW Hydrogen 7 comes with both a conventional 74-litre (16.3 Imp gal) gasoline tank and an additional fuel tank taking up approximately 8 kilos or 17.6 lb of liquid hydrogen. Stored in a high tech tank, liquid hydrogen offers significant advantages in energy density enhancing the cruising range of the hydrogen car. The driver is able to switch from hydrogen to gasoline mode manually by pressing a button on the multifunction steering wheel. Because engine power and torque remain exactly the same regardless of the mode of operation, switching from one mode to another has no effect on the driving behavior and performance of the BMW Hydrogen 7. Transitions - The Australian War Memorial, Canberra, Australia. Each season in life comes and goes like the light of day..giving us a changing perspective of constant things..I hate goodbyes. I hate transition periods. They always leave me in this rather contemplative mood. A state of mind that straddles between acceptance of the fact that change is inevitable and in denial of the fact that things have to change. I suppose everyone moves on eventually. People meet and have good times together then move on and have good memories together. It seems like each time i've finally figured out how things are working in my life, circumstances change to throw me back into having to start over again.I'm sitting here with my sketch pad drawing a corner in my room. Even as i draw i can see the shadows sh
Extremely secretive about his alias, Arts The Beatdoctor is a beatmaker from the Netherlands who adds even more mystery to his persona with a silky smooth debut. The feeling of night is apparent throughout ‘Transitions’. “Decreasing Daylight” has a backbone of drums and bass, but Art supplements a perfect dose of detuned brass, with a vinyl hiss hovering in the background. As the song fades out, the only noise left is a few desperate saxophone blows, before the sound of an automobile flashes by leading listeners into the title track. Vocals are laid in the middle of a frantic environment, as the sounds of a subway roll by: “Rattling ringtones from babbling bimbos / Toilet decay, too many delays / Fuck it, its all part of the norm / Finally, last stop, last station, last platform”. Then the sound of the subway becomes louder, as the music glides, making listeners feel like they’re on the subway, with headphones on. Another highlights include “Revo

This tutorial will take you through each of the steps involved in creating slide transitions using the free presentation software Impress from Open Office.org.
Start by opening your presentation. Then make sure that two specific panes are displayed - Task and Slide.
Select the first slide in your presentation from the Slides pane.
In the Tasks pane, select the Slide Transition section.
Here’s where you can create transitions. Start by viewing a few of them. Just select the transition name from the Apply to selected slides list. Each time you select one, it will be previewed in the main window. Find one that you’re happy with and leave it selected.
Now determine at which speed you’d like the transition to occur. Again, try out the different settings by selecting them from the Speed pull-down menu. If you’d like to add a sound to each transition, try out some of the defaults by selecting them from the Sound pull-down menu. You can also add your own
There are so many blogs on the Internet these days that it is very difficult to visit them or even to keep track of them. I started just subscribing to every blog that looked interesting. Then I sorted them into A, B, C or D groups based on how often I went to them. Then I made a top 10 - blogs I visit almost daily.Still there are blogs that I find now and again that are of significant value like Les Trachtman's "Founder Transitions". I should have seen this earlier, maybe I did and I forgot to bookmark it, but I really enjoy his outlook. His most recent post, Presentation to Long Island Software CEO Forum, has a great slide show (no audio) about what he learned as a 4X CEO. Even without the audio, it is clear that he has learned what needed to be learned. The clarity of the points says a lot about how clear the concepts are to him. Possibly my favorite comment, about spreading your message, "Unless you become bored, you have not said it enough" Les

Progressive house legend John Digweed will release the third installment of his Transitions compilation series through Renaissance in September.
Following the second volume released in early 2007, Transitions Vol. 3 is again taking the inspiration from Digweed's worldwide DJ sets and his weekly Kiss 100FM radio show and delivers a peak-time reflection of his current sound
"This mix still represents an immediate snapshot of my favourite tunes and producers but it’s also about that specific energy you get at 3 or 4am at the best clubs or festivals around the world," says Digweed. The single mix CD features cuts by the likes of Adam Freeland, Chaim, Marc Marzenit, Umek, Lawrence, Dusty Kid, and more. Every track has been edited by Digweed himself and continuously layered into the mix.Transitions Vol. 3 will also feature a second bonus CD containing a brand new, 25-minute track by Digweed and his longtime collaborator Nick Muir.

Scriptaculous has a lot of transitions, but in some situations, you want to sprinkle up a dull animation, applying a different, custom transition type.
Back in 2003, Robert Penner wrote the easing equations, a set of math formulas in Flash Actionscript released under the BSD license, that simulate various types of physical effects, the most notable are the overshooting elastic and bouncing ones. For an example, look at the demo here.
Three years later, Ken Snyder adapted the equations for scriptaculous, enabling builtin and custom animations to use these new nice effects as transitions. However the Penner easing equations were highly configurable, where instead in the Snyder ones you can only set the duration, because the other parameters are fixed in the source code. Also, not all (indeed, only a few) of the transitions have been ported, and their names have been changed too.
To use these new transitions, the easiest way is to open the effects.js file inside the src folder of your scr
I'm reading this wonderful book, Transitions: Making Sense of Life's Changes, by William Bridges, Ph.D. He's one of the seminal people in the field. I know that I don't deal well with change and because my son will start a four-year college in January, and I want to help him with his adjustment, I've decided that I need to improve my skills in this area.I will discuss this book more in the future, but for today, I just want to quote a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow that Bridges quotes in his book. Longfellow evidently wrote it when he went back for a visit to his hometown of Portland, Maine.ChangedFrom the outskirts of the town,Where of old the mile-stone stood,Now a stranger, looking down,I behold the shadowy crownOf the dark and haunted wood.It is changed, or am I changed?Ah! The oaks are fresh and green,But the friends with whom I rangedThrough their thickets are estrangedBy the years that intervene.Bright as ever flows the sea,Bright as ever shines the sun,But alas! the
I recently picked up a copy of Transitions Abroad magazine from the travel section at a Barnes and Noble. When it comes to magazines, I’m normally sold on a full subscription, or I don’t get it at all. After flipping through some pages of this one though, I realized there was a potential wealth of info I couldn’t leave without. It retails for $4.95 per issue, or $19.95 for a year’s subscription (6 months).
It turns out the May-June 2007 issue is focused on language studies. Almost all of the advertising is for volunteer, educational, and language programs abroad. Articles are written by people who have “been there, done that.” I still have quite a ways to go, however I just wrapped up an inspirational 2-page story about an American couple that decided to move to Italy and live like Italians for a year. Good news - they succeeded!

I recently came across an article, 'Home Exchange Tips', that was published in the July/August 2002 issue of Transitions Abroad Magazine. As I was unable to track down the author, Ruth Marvin Webster, to ask permission to reproduce her article in full, here's just a sample:'Test the level of customer or trade service each company provides. Determine whether there is someone to answer specific questions or has representatives in different countries. Bigger may not always be better.'Although her article was written five years ago, all Ruth's tips are still spot on. Do read the full article on Transitions Abroad.

The song goes... "Life is filled with swift transitions", I can't say I don't understand that. I'm on a mission to get myself out of this miserable location I call a job. On top of the drama that's already going on, my boss decided to get postal and gangsta on me and lose his mind in his way of speaking. I've checked him on it previously in a professional way, and I've even tried coming out the side of my neck "ghetto bird style", and each time he'd calm down for a few days then act like he had some home training.Today was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. It takes a lot for me to get angry. Sure I'll get irritated, but angry is different. Anyway, I'm officially convinced this man is missing some life lessons. I'm not going to go into our arguement, but it came down to him calling me a little girl and essentially insulting my mother, all because I caught an error of his and brought it to his attention. I can take whatever professional insult you've got for me, b
Following on from the success of the first volume, Transitions Vol. 2 does not disappoint. In fact, those who were less than enthralled with Vol. 1. may find the comparably somber and melodic Vol. 2 a bit more enjoyable. Mind you, if you haven't enjoyed Digweed's output over the last two or three years, this compilation will most likely prove to be no different.
Digweed's sound is still firmly rooted in tech-house, and the cheeky electronic elements of many of the tracks included here will most likely annoy those fans who stopped enjoying Digweed after his last Global Underground CD. But if you have an open mind and an ear for melody, I assure you that Transitions Vol. 2 is among the finest compilations released in recent memory, and perhaps Digweed and Renaissance's finest compilation in the last several years.
Digweed's mix features many of his favorite records of 2006 including his latest Bedrock signing Mistress Barbara with her track 'Azzurri', as well as cuts from Martin Landsky ('1000 Miles'), Merz,...

It’s an innocuous enough word. There again, it is a ubiquitous word here in America. In every other country, ‘transition’ merely means change, they’re pretty much interchangeable. Out here, ‘transition,’ is used most commonly with reference to children, as in ‘he doesn’t transition well.’ [translation = he has a meltdown] And yes, it’s nearly always ‘he.’ More simply, it means he finds it difficult to stop doing that, and start doing this.I came face to face with this word several years ago. I was trying to leave the YMCA with my three littlest ones. Junior was strapped to my chest, his fingers entwined in my hair and screaming. The other two were in the double stroller. They were also both screaming. The front one held the wheels, the second one gripped the door jam preventing our departure. A kindly woman remarked "my! they sure do have a little trouble transitioning!" She might as well have been speaking Swahili to me for all I understood. Many chil
