If Michael O’ Leary fell into a bucket of horse manure he’d most probably spring back onto his feet, brush himself down and somehow still manage to come up smelling of roses.
Despite reporting a 47% loss in first-half profits, O’ Leary is plotting to benefit from further consolidation among Europe’s airlines, as well as an [...]

How can a small group of people control so many people?
It has always been that way. Maybe there is a secret mechanism in the human psyche to accept this?
Since me and my best friend will be turning 50 this year, we have decided to go on a cruise vacation together – without our other half!
Not sure how our spouses will react as they have not been informed but I am so looking forward to spending some time with my best friend without [...]

Concurrent with the start of the trial of eight alleged conspirators in the United Kingdom, the NEFA Foundation has released the fifteenth installment in its "Target: America" series, examining the 2006 plot to detonate liquid explosives on board several commercial aircraft departing from Britain and bound for the United States and Canada. Cell members reportedly planned to bring the liquid explosives onto planes in factory-sealed sports drink bottles modified with false bottoms. When announcing...(read more)
SeaDream Yacht Club, popular among the elite cruisers in the world and operator of the twin, ultra-luxury, mega yacht cruisers SeaDream I and II, announced today that its upcoming transatlantic westbound voyages will offer their distinguished cruisers a high- profile speakers’ program. Yes, no bumping off or bumping up on this flight. There were fewer passengers than flight attendants. I've been to Atlanta on a half-empty Air France flight from Paris and had two lunches into the bargain. These guys must have been spoilt for choice. And able to stretch out. Did they pay economy and get to be in business, I wonder?Environmentalists are up in arms about the flight from Chicago to London. Whilst I agree it seems silly to put five passegers on such a flight, the airline has a point in saying that they were going to take a plane load back to Chicago. Sometimes I think the green lobby moves into zealotry territory and makes itself look foolish. No airline wants to waste money, and I hardly think AA has the desire to do so. The grand experience that is the Queen Mary 2 continues. Queen Mary 2 is probably now the most famous destination between New York and London, carrying more passengers transatlantic than any other cruise liners. Truly an icon for the modern era, Queen Mary 2 has all of the majesty of her historic Cunard predecessors, plus a complete list of amenities to appeal to the 21st-century sensibilities of its clients. As was the case with her predecessors, Queen Mary 2 was built with the demanding traveller in mind, offering just about everything you can imagine that will help you relax, refresh, and discover new outlooks on life. The final installment of the 101 Things To Do on a Queen Mary 2 transatlantic crossing involves Life’s Simpler Pleasures. I’m certain you’ll see why.
By now you’re beginning to see why Cunard Line published this list on their website, and in their new electronic brochure for transatlantic cruises. They have been known for years as the ultimate host to world leaders, sports figures, diplomats, and stars of the silver screen, who sipped champagne at gala formal events and paraded along graceful promenades attired in their finest apparel. It is the definition of luxury travel, and getting there is truly half the fun. Cordially Yours and Show Stoppers make up part 6 of 101 Things To Do on a Queen Mary 2 Transatlantic Crossing.
So I’m guessing you’ve worked up quite an appetite as you read throught he last installment of 101 Things To Do on a Queen Mary 2 transatlantic crossing. It’s easy to do, but there are ways for you to get rid of those added, unwanted bulges as a result of all this fine dining. Work out!! Today’s installment is called Fitness Fare, and offers you a wealth of suggestions for keeping the figure in its original state if you’re thin, or getting that out of control shape back into a workable frame. Come on, you can do it. Just one more………
Today’s continuation of the Cunard Line Queen Mary 2’s list of 101 things to do on a transatlantic cruise covers the cultural affairs category. If you missed part 1 of the series, you can view it here. Each day, I’ll be adding to the list that was originally published in the Cunard Line 2008 Crossing brochure. Interesting and fun reading, and thought provoking from the perspective that you are only limited by your own imagination as to what you can do onboard.
I thought it might be fun to share with you a cruise piece Cunard Line has done to show that transatlantic cruises can be fun, and provide a wealth of things to do. Because there are so many, I will be dividing them up over the next few days. Covered in the piece are leisurely pursuits, cultural affairs, thoroughly British moments, fine dining and divine wining, fitness fare, cordially yours, and life’s simpler pleasures. So sit back, and enjoy what Cunard is making available to you if you choose to sail on a transatlantic cruise aboard the Queen mary 2.
We have taken several trips on AA across the Atlantic, both in business and coach classes. Food and service continue to be underwhelming and disapointing. The staff attitude ranges from angry to arrogant. On a recent flight from London to New York, a flight attendant explained why AA charges extra for everything such as the little wine bottles: “every little bit helps!” Hard to imagine that AA would make their earnings based on wine sales and if they did it would reflect poorly on board and management. When we pointed out that other, mostly international airlines such as Virgin do not nickel and dime their passengers on long-haul flights, the response was a new low in airlines arrogance and here we quote the AA flight attendant: “Lately our flights have been so full that we do not really care…”. This is just a short sample of various AA “infractions”. Other include, for example, refusing to move a business class passenger with a full fair tic

A piece I wrote on how to improve transatlantic counterterrorism ties, which have been seriously tested over these past several years. With U.S. government assistance, three "homegrown" terrorist suspects were arrested in Germany several weeks ago. Despite this success story, transatlantic counterterrorism ties have been seriously tested over the past three months: prosecutors in Munich called for the extradition of CIA agents allegedly involved in abducting a German citizen; an Italian trial began...(read more)
A nice melodic track containing synths that help it crossover into both trance and progressive sets. From Baroque Records (my fav's on progressive releases).
There's a break about halfway through the track that leads to a 32 bar ambient wash. This leads into a really awesome 16 bar section with some sort of attack, resampled mix on the vocals with a thumping syncopated break driving the track.
November 26, 2006Just off the coast of the Canary IslandsDear friends,I arrived back in the Canary Islands two days ago. In the marina, all ships participating in the ARC, the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers, had assembled. 223 ships from different nationalities. From 27 feet (9 meters) to 100 feet (over 30 meters) monsters. From homemade boats to big luxurious one-off designs. From competition racing boats with little luxury to standard cruising yachts like ours. The ARC is an annual event trying to assemble yachts at the ideal time of the year to sail across the Atlantic. The purpose is to get everyone safely to 'the other end', in a competitive way. The people participating are from all kinds of walks of life. Some are professional skippers taking their charter ship over to the Caribbean for the season (like us), with a random crew often consisting of people who never crossed the Atlantic before. Some are competition boats with a well trained racing crew on board. Some are families, m
December 9, 2006.In the Middle of Nowhere.Dear J.,We have been at sea for a while now. I am gradually getting into a mood, where I feel more than just 'at sea'. I feel at home, in harmony with everything around me. At those moments, it is as if I feel the ship talking. It is more sounds rather than words. At times, I hear her giggling when she loves the excitement of a fast sail. I hear her hum a melody when she is happy with the sail settings and the wind. There are times where I hear her cry when something is wrong, when the swell and low winds make her sail flap and the boom bang to and fro.Last night I was woken up when she was crying in pain, and screaming. The winds were low, and the side-swell had her boom bang every 10 seconds. . The ship shivered with every smack of the sails. The foresail emptied and filled again with a loud whack like a giant whip. She was tormented.I came on deck to find the crew on watch chatting. They had not really noticed the banging. I gave them a pi
ARC 2006 - Sailing Vessel Persuader Too.Log entry December 8, 2006 - Transatlantic crossing, day #12.With his 18 years, Tom is the youngest of our crew. Thanks to him, our crew has an average age of only 45 :-). We do joke a lot with him, and often "threaten' him "to tell his mum'. Below is an invented letter to Tom's mum. Dear Mrs. Mallet,Greetings from the Persuader Too, now well on its way to St.Lucia. We were sorry you only found out that Tom was crossing the Atlantic when he was no longer available on his cellphone. Indeed, he did not stay overnight at a friend. He promises to call you once we arrive in St.Lucia.As all sailors smoke, Tom started to smoke too. He says hi and asks you if you have a good recipe to get the nicotine from his fingers. It took some effort to make sure he kept all his underwear, T-shirts, and shampoo in his cabin, as he clearly has the habit of leaving everything hanging around. Eric, our first mate on the passage from Hamble to the Canaries

ARC 2006 - Sailing Vessel Persuader Too.Log entry December 3, 2006 - Transatlantic crossing, day #7.For days, we have not seen another ship and on Saturday, we passed a fishing vessel, in the early afternoon. All of sudden she popped up at the horizon. We locked her on the radar and observed she was not moving at all. It was a fishing vessel, which looked like hovering on one spot. We were speeding on our massive green kite, autopilot set to follow the wind, about 155 degrees off wind, a course that brought us heading straight for the fishing vessel. - is it not odd, that for days on end you don't see any other ship, and when one is spotted, it always seems to be on a collision course? -Anyway, there she was, just hovering on one position, not moving at all. She did not drag any fishing gear, just "lay there'. We called them on the radio, in English, No response. In French. No response. In Portuguese. No response. In Spanish. No response.. It was not until we raced past h
