As of early May 2008 Google implemented major changes to its
trademarks policies and lifted restrictions on branded keywords being used in competitor's
campaigns in the UK and Ireland. Many advertisers/agencies were displaying
apprehension and concern toward the changes and the effects on their campaigns.
According to UK trademark records, on June 27 Land Rover began the process of registering the name "E_Terrain". Last weekend, Jennifer and I were at the grocery store and they were giving away reusable bags they had previously been selling. We'd never been interested in buying them ourselves for several reasons: one, we didn't need them (we always carry stuff home in our backpacks); two, they cost money; and three; they're blue and say "I'm green" on the side. "I've got some meth in my pocket," he told the arresting officers. British by birth, Quest is the host of "Quest" and the "CNN Business Traveler." My hometown team, the Kansas Jayhawks, won the National Championship on Monday. Having grown up about two blocks from campus, my parents started taking me to basketball games when I was a small child, and I was ecstatic with their win.In honor of their victory, the American Lawyer conducted an interview with KU's general counsel, available here. He discusses how he got the job, the game, and celebrations after the game, accurately stating: "It was just a tremendous, unbelievable game."Among the legal issues currently being litigated by KU (though not discussed in the interview) is one lawsuit against a Lawrence, Kansas retailer that sells T-shirts – Joe-College.com. Many of the Joe College T-shirts have silly or irreverent slogans related to Kansas athletics, such as "Super Mario 15,"

Beginning on May 5, 2008, the AdWords trademark policy for the UK and Ireland will change. The new policy will be aligned with the current one established in the United States and Canada. AdWords users in the UK and Ireland will be able to bid on keywords that contain trademarked words, but will not be able to include trademarked names in their ad text. Until now, accounts in those countries could not bid on trademarked terms. The U.S. policy has sparked controversy in the courts, which can't seem to agree on the use of trademark in PPC bidding. The change comes in the wake of recent reports that clicks on Google paid search results have been declining.

In our rapidly developing world there is not enough to establish a trademark that will guarantee your firm or corporation a great success and your employees a lot of benefits. You are to do your utmost to turn your trademark into a brand, a mirror of your services and the products you offer. To realize how important your trademark can finally become – sometimes it takes ages especially if you are not able to define the ultimate goal and you can not predict the market development as well as your potential clients’ needs.
To find out what is the best strategy of creating a brand that will be working for you for years you are to define how you are going to make it visible, to make it necessary for our everyday life and to convince everyone that without this or that product, without this or that service their well-being can not be possible, their success will be limited, their life will be dull and boring. Anyway, there is no working guide how to build a brand – all you can use is ju

Cisco Systems and Apple said Wednesday they have settled the trademark-infringement lawsuit over the use of the iPhone name for Apple's new multimedia phone. The agreement allows Apple and Cisco to use the iPhone brand on their own products. Also, the companies said that they would explore opportunities for interoperability in the areas of security, consumer and business communications. The brief announcement made no reference to any financial agreement or specified how the two companies might work together. Representatives for Apple and Cisco declined to comment further, citing confidentiality restrictions. Cisco sued Apple for trademark infringement in January after Apple unveiled its long-awaited multimedia phone called the iPhone, a name claimed by the network equipment maker. Cisco also charged in its complaint that Apple had attempted to get rights to the iPhone name several times, but after Cisco refused, the company created a front company to try to acquire the rights another
The Cisco versus Apple trademark dispute still hasn’t been resolved: Cisco is granting Apple’s request for more time to reply to the lawsuit filed by the networking giant. “Cisco has agreed to give Apple an extension until Wednesday, Feb. 21. Cisco is fully committed to using the extra time to reach a mutually beneficial resolution,” the company stated in a media release. Cisco spokesman John Noh said the company wasn’t seeking money, but wants to negotiate an interoperability agreement with Apple.
On January 10, Cisco announced it had filed a lawsuit seeking to prevent Apple from infringing upon and deliberately copying and using Cisco’s registered iPhone trademark. Cisco said it obtained the iPhone trademark in 2000 after completing the acquisition of Infogear which previously owned the mark and sold iPhone products for several years. The original Infogear filing for the iPhone trademark dates to March 20, 1996. Linksys, a division of Cisco, has be
