For today, I done some work on the map editor's file menu system and the map engine code. In particular, I finished work on displaying the content directory and showing new files via pseudo scrolling. It was tricky, as it require a bit of thought to implement it.Map engine code is relatively easy, as it is merely a cleanup job. I was dissatisfied by the ugliness of some code so I refactored them.

Here is a simple explanation of the word missional—it describes being a missionary everywhere you are! It is about doing missions—aligning your life with the redemptive mission of Jesus in the world. It includes adopting the posture of a missionary in order to engage those in the culture around you with the gospel message. It is based on the recognition that every believer has been sent by Jes

America idealizes the middle class and denies the validity of an upper or governing class. Yet we have so structured our economy that all the increase in income since 1980 has gone to the already wealthy, undermining the idea of a governing middle class. The resulting inequality of income and wealth commits future generations to be divided into the wealthy and the workers, nobles and serfs.

It is known that Christian Easter Celebration Date became different between Eastern and Western Sides of the world, this difference took place in 1582, as a result of the decision made by the Western Church to start using the Gregorian Calendar -the standard calendar for much of the world- while the Eastern Church continued using the older Julian Calendar. How Easter Date is determined and the formula for Easter is the same for all sides: "The first Sunday after the first full moon on or after the vernal equinox" . and it is identical for both Western and Eastern sides, but the issue of applying it on different Calendars is resulting in different dates. This simple issue of using different calenders that is making some type of inconsistency of Easter Celebration Date, is making everyone wo

In fact, they've told me more than once that I'm on my own now, and should stop calling them. I'm forever thankful to my parents fo

So, the lesson for the day, for this blog, for those who are about to spend thousands on a kitchen, is this:There are different types of kitchen designers. That's it, end of story. The shocks that allow the powerful to push through radical reforms are sometimes natural disasters and are sometimes events that are created to terrify the public. 9/11 was a devastating shock to the American system, as its aftermath provided the Patriot Act, the Department of Homeland Security, the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, the Military Commissions Act, and much more. It is high time I weigh in on the recent speech from Willard "Mitt" Romney in which he demonstrated his willingness to pander to Christian extremists, his ignorance of the Constitution, and what sounds at least a little bit like a theocratic vision for America. I've held off for this long because I was so disgusted to see how far we have fallen since JFK's famous "its okay to vote for a Catholic" speech.Romney's speech can be viewed here or read here (be sure to add your comments as well). I should probably start by saying that I understand why he felt the speech was necessary, and I do not begrudge him that. He had an opportunity to assuage the reluctance of many Americans to vote for a Mormon by explaining his Mormon beliefs and stating clearly for the record that they will not influence how he would govern America. If you've heard anything about his speech, you'll already know that he did not do any of this. Instead, Romney chose to reassure Christian extremists that he agrees

Today I had the honor to meet with Joost Farwerck, director of Wholesale and Operations at KPN. Most striking were unequivocal belief in FTTH ('the endgame', as I have referred to it before) and an apparent decline in interest in being a network operator.
Joost very tellingly was able to see me in between a trip to Australia and New Zealand and a meeting with bbned (Telecom Italia).
Here are my
Just a quick update and moral support on a Friday night. Focus on tracking all expenses, resist your urge to go to the vending machine to get a soda/snack, and concentrate on saving money. If you can, avoid going out to eat and taking long trips; conserve that gas money and lost dollars on high priced meals. Take advantage of coupons that you see coming in the mail for the grocery store, and also for some of your favorite fast food places.
You don’t have to pay full price for anything! I just bought a laptop online that is a brand new Lenovo (Lenovo bought IBM’s laptop business recently) for $644.99. Expensive you think? Not for a Pentium Core Duo 2.0 GHz, 1 GB DDR RAM, 120 GB hard disk, 15.4″ glossy screen, webcam, fingerprint reader, built-in blue tooth, and wireless LAN. I bought it on eBay completely new with a full one year warranty (I verified it with Lenovo), and it showed up in the mail 3 days later. I own a Dell Inspiron 6400 currently, but now that I ha
Recent studies done at the University of Montreal suggest that our natural inclination as toddlers is that of aggression. These findings fly in the face of traditional theory that violence and aggression is a matter of “nurture” not “nature.” Previous to these studies, the theory was that children needed to learn a certain level how to “agress” when in fact they need to learn not to. These theories linked child aggression to parent separation, low parental income and/or mother’s aggressive tendencies.
Understanding this is critical for parents because the belief is that toddlers need to learn to control these tendencies in their preschool years otherwise they believe it is an indicator toward aggressive and violent behavior later in life.
They also attribute this unchecked aggression in a child’s early years to other serious behavioral issues later in life such as substance abuse, violent crime and continuing the cycle of abusive parenti
The Law of the Sea Treaty, if passed, would spread redistribution of wealth schemes to a worldwide platform. Private companies would have no incentive to efficiently utilize the mineral resources of the ocean.
The United Nations has gone through some tough times recently, from allegations that peacekeeping operations are chock full of waste and abuse to news headlines about U.N. mismanagement of the Iraqi Oil-for-Food program. Its image battered, the U.N. is now turning to the United States Senate to deliver some good news (to it, at least) by ratifying the Law of the Sea Treaty (which goes by the wonderful acronym LOST). LOST operates under the assumption that any minerals in the ocean floor constitute the “common heritage” of all mankind — and therefore cannot be the property of any one individual, company, or nation. This treaty is an affront to American national sovereignty. It would give the United Nations authority over much of the world’s ocea
