      Top Design....Replacement for Design Star?
The new and second season of Bravo TV's Top Design premiered this week and the question of the day is.........How Annoying is D List Actor Ricky Schroder's Wife! This series take 13 contestants and puts them thru challenges that are judged by Jonathen Adler, Margaret Russell and Kelly Wearstler, all of which are established interior designers in there own right. The only difference between this sho

Top Design Finale: Was it Really Any Contest?
Of course Matt won. Of course. Not that I didn’t like a few of Carisa’s innovation, but c’mon, people. Even better, though, was the fact that Matt’s carpenter, Ed, also won $10,000, and seriously, he really deserved it. I mean, the guy almost cut off a finger for this show. He never complained, never argued, and never did less than his best. And it’s a good thing Matt won too, because, as Carisa said in her exit interview, he would have been DEVASTATED if he would have lost. I think the guy would have needed to be on suicide watch! It was a good choice to pick Matt as the winner. Yes, I’m actually agreeing with the judges for once! Let’s look at their lofts side-by-side to see why Matt had the Top Design First, here are the two bathrooms. Carisa’s was nice, but I mean…it was typical Carisa. Green. Pop-art-ish. Graphic. Nothing fabulous. Matt’s, on the other hand was sexy. You can’t tell in this picture very well, but

A Pictorial Summary of Last Night’s Top Design
Top Design last night was full of drama, tears, complains, and bad hair, as usual. Here’s a recap of the show, through pictures. “I am so distressed about absolutely everything regarding this show. I want to cry.” “I will be your guest judge. I was Fred Flintstone’s wife in a past life. You will now all make rooms according to the four elements.” “I got the PERFECT element for me, because it matches my sign! And I have a wife and kids.” “Insert bitchy comments here, while I smile and pretend I love everyone and am NOT a bitch.” “AHHHHH! I may spontaneously combust at ANY moment. Which would be perfect for my room of fire!” “If I hear Andrea whine one more time about getting “earth” as her element, I’m going to cut off my ears. Or my thumb.” “Stupid Matt with his stupid easy element. Stupid element of earth. Stupid.” “Everyone stands between me and prize. I wil

      Michael Gone on Top Design
On Last night’s episode of Top Design, Michael was the latered decorator, which I kind of expected. I like the kid, but he and Carisa are definitely the weakest links at this point. The designers were asked to create a chef’s table for Tom Colicchio, the head judge of Top Chef. The results were varied, but in the end, Andrea cam out on tip. Matt was definitely a surprise. Actually, he’s been doing well, but for some reason I keep forgetting about how sheek his rooms always look. No matter what Carisa says, I do feel like his vision came through most in the Bacardi Limon challenge, and he deserved that win. Does anyone else think that Goil is beginning to get a little scary? He needs to take some calming pills I think! However, I do believe, like the judges, that he has that awesome room inside of him somewhere. If only he would paint the walls a solid color and just make something original–every single room he does, you walk into it and say “Oh, this is

Top Design: Who’s in It to Win It?
It can be a little confusing to see who’s got the god on Top Design, so I’ve come up with a little way to chart their progress. Here’s the last few episodes, which total points at the end. I gave each designed 10 points for a win, 1 point for making it through the episode without being in the bottom, and -5 points for being in the bottom. Click on the thumbnail to see the chart. Who’s in it to win it? So far, it looks like Andrea is the “sleeper,” banking two wins AND no bottoms. What do you guys thing–who’s your favorite to win Top Design? No Top Design
Was anyone else sad and a bit surprised that Top Design was a repeat tonight? I don’t know why, but I missed that fact during the week and was all excited to see a new episode. Since it was a repeat again, let me take this chance to make my predictions for top three: 1. Goil 2. Andrea 3. Matt At least, I think those are the ones deserving of top three spots. If they cut it down to just two, Goil and Andrea. My guess is that they’ll have to do an entire house or something crazy like that. And who else thinks it’s funny that Goil introduces himself by saying “Hi, I’m Goil, like Gargoyle.” He’s such a sweetheart!

      Adler on Top Design
Jonathan Adler is one of the three new judges for Bravo Reality. Acting in part as a host when Todd’s not around, Adler and the other judges contemplate over who has the best deisgn every week on Bravo’s Top Design. Personally, I’m not too keen on the judges or their choices so far, but if nothing else, Adler has overcome obstacles to get where he is today. He was recently interviewed by the New York Post: “I told my pottery teacher that I really wanted to be a potter,” says Adler, 40. “I said, ‘Do you think I have what it takes?’” At the time, Adler was an art history major at Brown University and spending his free time making pots at the nearby Rhode Island School of Design. “And she said, ‘You’re terrible. You’re a disaster. You have no talent. Move to New York and become a lawyer or an accountant.’” Read the rest of the story here. Jonathan Adler, Bravo, Top Design, New York Post

Are You Ready for Top Design?
Your BPR Team is taking on a new show! We are very excited about Top Design and we hope that you are too. You can expect the same positive and upbeat treatment of Top Design that we have given to Project Runway. Also, we plan to offer some of the same features that we offer on BPR. These include: 1. Tbone's live-posting of each episode. 2. The famous "Party Post" every Wednesday. 3. The always emotional "Reactions" post at the end of each new episode. 4. The "Congratulations" post to the winner on Thursday morning as well as the 5. "BTD Love" post to the departed designer. 6. Of course we wouldn't forget the "Who SHOULD HAVE won?" and "Who SHOULD HAVE been off?" polls. These are always interesting. 7. How about some recappers? Who will take this on? BTD needs a Recapalooza! 8. Hopefully we will have interviews with each designer as he or she leaves. 9. Hopefully we will get some previews of upcoming episodes. 10. One of our favorite features is the

We'll miss ya', you knuckleheaded Neanderthal. You were no diplomat, that's for sure, but such fun to watch. I WISH you'd hung around longer so I could have heard more phrases like, "Felicia got the one I wanted - Bitch!"Had you dripped or spattered a paint pattern on that bare floor, you might have saved your own ass. Here's one more trip down memory lane with John.Ciao, dahling. You'll be gone but not forgotten.Ain't she sweet?Told you. Shoulda dipped the roller in paint first.Heee, heee, heee. Got to you, didn't I!I did all of the work. That little turd just bragged how great he was and contributed nothing.Whaaa!?Whaddaya mean we didn't win?Huh? And they call it puppy love ... Top Design kid clients
How sweet is this scene from Top Design? Here are Matt and his puppy love admirer, Samantha, aka "Hollywood" aka "Fabulous." He could have told her that "we're going to paint skulls and crossbones a la Erroll Flynn on your black headboard," and you get the sense she would have agreed to anything he came up with. And this darling little photo below is to die for. Ryan ordered up pink, pink, pink for his cute client, Madison. From her excited expression, I'd say he was spot on when he chose the feather boa.Too bad we didn't see more of our young clients, and that the interminable length of time Bravo took with the judging prevented us from seeing them more. Was anyone besides me interested in the kids' comments? We're watching the COMPETITION Bravo, not the judges, get that into your thick-skulled minds. Top Design Sinks, Sank, Sunk
Ok, let me get this straight. Ryan not only made awful furniture choices, he was a poor team player as well. And he gets to stay. Elizabeth, a great team player and talented designer, did not sink her team, who, by the way, agreed with her green and egg plant color choices. Her team's Miami Beach Cabana looked way better than Team St. Tropez' discordant cabana (though Goil's architectural structure was spot on.)But Elizabeth gets aufed?Do you hear the sound of gurgling? That's the sound of Top Design sinking to the bottom of the t.v. show ocean. Way to sabotage a show with great potential, Bravo. Go back to the drawing boards and save this wreck!

Dahling, your sister Leiah just called. She just got in from outer space and said they stopped wearing this hair do light years ago.Episode Three:Cute dress, love the sash. What's up with the stockings? Would you want your mommy to go out dressed in public like that?Stay tuned for Epi Four. I understand she'll be having a bad hair day, joining this select group.

Did the right person get "latered" on Top Design?
Top Design, Episode Four Awful. What was Felicia thinking? The judges rewarded her by booting her off the show. Right now I'm feeling no sympathy for any of the designers. But get a load of Ryan's room. Even a guy in solitary confinement would get claustrophobic living in this environment.Did the right person get booted this week? What do you think of the judges' decision?Contrast these two sorry rooms to David's winning design in Design Star, which aired last summer and fall on HGTV. David could only purchase his supplies at a pet shop. The glass lamp is made from fish bowls, and the carpet is made from cedar shavings. Talk about a cool concept and solution!
