Fortunately with some precautionary measures you should be able to minimize the effect of this on your harvest.

I also noticed some of my "Early Girls" were also starting to produce so fresh garden salsa should be coming soon.

All I had to do was read the ingredient list of this recipe and my father was half-way out the door to the store to buy the fettuccini. There was a mintiness that added complexity and rustic tannin

I had high hopes for this one...ready-made tomato soup with no added sugar and available in small, one person/portion-sized cartons (300 g). Here's a pic, so you know what to look out for.It contains:tomatoes (59%)tomato puree (30%)onionvegetable oilcornflourbasil (0.6%)garlic pureesaltoregano - N.B. a powerful anti-fungal!black pepperNothing that should antagonise (encourage?) any lingering yeasty-beasties. But, for me, the flavour was too sharp and slightly bitter (really needs sugar sadly), and I didn't get on well with the large chunks of tomato (I prefer a smooth texture). Still, others might disagree - it's worth giving it a go.

Topsy-Turvy Planter makes it easy to grow tomatoes and vegetables because it eliminates the need for a backyard garden plot, stakes or cages, weeding, soil prep, hole digging, cut worms and in-ground insects! Saves your back and knees too! Hang it from a hook on a deck or balcony and youll work standing up. Water and fertilize through the built-in top funnel; trim and harvest at chest height! Also for cukes, peppers, flowers. Just add your soil and plants. FLOWERS thrive in TOPSY TURVY, too! And talk about an interesting way to grow them! Flowers grown in TOPSY will "curl" upward seeking the sun, creating gorgeous "upside down umbrella-like sprays" of flowers. Flowers grown this way look "interestingly different" (almost like a new variety of plant).View More details

I picked up some aubergines and peppers at a market today, not locally as we only have Tesco near us, but made a trip further afield to the next town (what an adventure)! It was one of those special offers where they sell any bowl of fruit or veg for £1, and I can't resist a bargain. So I then had to find something to do with them!I was inspired by Helen at Food Stories with her recipe for Broccoli and Anchovy Pasta with Roasted Aubergine Sauce. I am not (yet) adventurous enough to try making my own pasta, and besides I have not got a pasta maker! But her sauce provided the inspiration for tonight's dinner. The resulting sauce reminded me of some Lloyd Grossman sauces in jars that I used to eat as a student very regularly, it was really rich and tomatoey, with a nice sweet flavour wh

There was a reason for my hatred then, Upma used to be on the breakfast menu atleast 2-3 times a week and my mom would never let us go to school with empty stomach.. If we didnt have time to eat she packs it for us to eat during the 15 min interval( break ).. Since i hated the plain upma, my mom used to make an array of versions in upma like Tomato baath, Veggie upma, Pappu upma( upma with moongdal ), semiya bath( vermicelli upma ), Goduma ravva upma( whole wheat germ upma ),...

This recipe makes a great vegetable party dip. I normally set out assorted bell peppers, sugar snap peas, baby carrots, and celery. Tortilla chips could also be used here, but the vegetable assortment is always popular and looks great on the table. If you are making party dips, make sure everything served at the party [...]

It sounds a bit strange, but I have it on good authority that many top chefs use it. It adds a certain richness to the sauce, and also the sweetness just takes away the bitterness of the tomatoes without any sugar.Of course, the basic tomato part of this sauce can be modified in all sorts of ways if you want to leave out the roasted peppers.
