Teamwork ...The Brothers have passed their furniture removal course with distinction ... and the locksmith course . They can escape. The above photos were taken yesterday. On Daddy's to do list is to find the key ... we haven't had one for this door since we moved in 3.5 yrs ago or put a new bolt .This morning at 8am they got out while I was making breakfast (still in my single top because DH went to work early before I got up).I couldn't chase them as we have workmen ( sadly - no eye candy or hot hunks) metres from the fence. They are looking down on us too so they can see everything.I ran to get my jacket and chase fetch them (the Brothers not the men).Problem is I am getting slower and they run different directions - chasing one 13kg toddler with another under your arm is no fun. I
Finally, I managed to get my 3 year old to go to bed after all the tossing and turning, coaxing and singing. Toddlers are great negotiators, and they’re no different when it comes to bedtime. And because they so enjoy the time they spend with you, they’ll do what they can to prolong the time [...]

One of my girlfriends is going through a dilemma. Her 2 year old son has suddenly stepped into the phase of hitting. He's hitting her all the time, especially in public places which is quite embarrassing; and the odd thing about all of this is that he doesn't hit his father. I've read of numerous people going through the same ordeals and this is my conclusion... Turns out, based on my psychologist response, kids hit their mothers mostly because they are testing them to see what their reaction will be. They usually don't do it to the fathers because they can sense that strong masculine presence which gives them a small amount of fear. However Mommies are usually seen as soft and loving and so kids think that they can test Mommy and get over on her. My girlfriend's son is in a learning phase

Sadly, the English, tumbling into the Islamic inferno as they are, do not have the political will to stop the forced marriages because that would mean deporting all Muslims from their soil. The problem is not that a few pedophilic psychopaths are doing this, but rather that it is encouraged and accepted by entire communities of immigrants who hail from the most barbaric and backward areas on this planet.

As many of my regular readers know I continue to breastfeed my twin sons @ 20 months old. I plan to continue as long as mutually desirable.I know my brother disapproves . Even last night my MIL said to me she did 'I' think 'S ' would start to eat more if I stopped breastfeeding. This is what my brother says too LOL. The stock market 'guru' whose infant nutrition degree fell out of the Kellogg's box.Given that J my other twin eats mostly everything and always has a great appetite -but still breastfeeds - why would it make any difference ?I wouldn't exactly call myself a Lactivist - (see this sweatshirt for the definition- click the image to check out Attached at the Hips full range) but I believe breastfeeding was the right choice for me and for my children. When choosing a good toddler computer game, pick one that will be engaging for the child and entertaining also for the adult and you will be glad to know there are a huge variety of games for toddlers that are interactive, and very educational while at the same time entertaining. Initially it is your duty to guide your child playing the computer games. These toddler computer games must provide both funs to the parent as well as the child and should possess easy to start features and should also have the facility to pause anytime in between when required. Besides these it must have colorful graphics devoid of any scary and bloody episodes because children loves colors and preferably, should be customizable. All these features will help you to determine the quality of the game that you are purchasing for your child. Computer software today is not really that inexpensive but you can enjoy the same with your child by visiting any games websites. These game websites allows you with two fold
An essential part in helping out the infants of today is providing the basic educational needs to help them in understanding various genres. The hardest people to teach today is perhaps the younger generation, since the start of their educational journey needs good roots to be able to connect the other parts of attaining and enriching their current knowledge. With the help of technology and advanced means of providing the necessary tools and objects in the form of toys and games, children have a better overview of understanding the basics of life and its possibilities. It is never an easy task to educate children, and pushing them to lean towards technology enhanced software like child learning software will still need good tutorials and foundations usually on the part of adults and peers. A child cannot immediately be expected to adapt to the first hand exposure towards such available learning software. While they may find such interfaces as amusing, the immediate intent of the module

Now that my daughter is nearing 2 1/2, Christmas in her eyes is proving to be very entertaining. The lights, the decorations, the songs, Santa Claus...At first she was pretty freaked out about the idea of a big guy breaking into the house through the chimney, but now she’s fine with it because he brings presents. When wife sings, “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” she quickly interrupts with “no mommy, he coming to my house…to bring me PRESENTS!!!” (hooray!)Upon seeing this supernatural influence, I saw a great opportunity to help with the potty training cause. I’ve told her Santa only brings presents on Christmas to big kids that use the potty…and guess what? Every time she sees any Santa, or any mention of him, she wants to use the potty. So far his magical powers seem to be

For all my talk about not sweating the small stuff and not getting into power struggles with your kids I have to say that right now Elle is doing the one thing that drives me totally batty. She's not napping.I've tried explaining to her that at her age she still needs to nap. I've tried letting her cry it out (well, it's more like whining it out). I've tried changing her nap to a later time of day. I've even tried snuggling her until she falls asleep. Nothing is working. What the hell? Why won't she just fricken sleep already? Joseph stopped napping long before he turned two but that was different somehow. He seemed ready. Elle doesn't. If she doesn't nap it throws her for a loop and she's really cranky in the evening.I've heard of kids napping into their pre-school years. Why do my kids have to be the non-napping freaks?Experienced parents, I need your advice. How old were your kids whent hey stopped napping? What did you do when they wanted to stop? Anyone ever have success
I was reading today’s news and read something any parent could’ve confirmed without a big study that would suck up research dollars.
Babies can tell good people from bad.
Seriously. They did a study on this, and learned that just as we who’ve raised children have always known (based on how certain members of our families or friends always seem to elicit the “Gee, he/she always cries when I try hold him/her” response); babies can tell if you’re a person with good intentions or bad.
Babies as young as six months can distinguish between good and bad people, according to a study in which babies observed characters being helpful or unhelpful.
Scientists had thought that social judgments developed with language at about 18 months to two years old. But the results suggest that the ability to make moral judgments has innate foundations and is not just learned from parents.

We love going out to shop for Shiela’s toys and things. The problem is the transport that sometimes is very annoying and the weight of the things that need to be carried is so exhausting.I have found out that there is an online shop that sells baby stuffs such as toys, clothes, play yards, books, music and a whole lot more. It is a one stop shop because all of the famous/big brands that small and big store has are there. They have toddler clothing in the latest designs and they also provide guidelines and advice on how to choose the right one.I choose turtleneck designs and these toddler’s pants because it’s winter and Shiela needs to be armed well no matter where she’ll go around the house. These will be perfect for Shiela.Enjoy the benefit of shopping online. This one for us is great in a way that the trip going out to shop and the hassle from queue is avoided.

Hi. Here is an interview I did with Sheffield producer Toddla T for my music column in the new Vice. For some reason they took out the pic of him and replaced it with people dropping some mad crazy science all over the dancefloor, i.e. doing some breakdancing. Weird. Anyway, keep your ears open for Sinden and Count of Monte Cristal's remix of Toddla's "Do U Know?" - one of my favourite songs right now.Prancehall: You sound like someone who is trying to make dancehall/techno/garage/house/hip-hop all at once within the same track without coming across like those dicks who make stuff like Baltimore bootlegs of kuduro tracks with an Akon acappella and a Daft Punk sample hook, and describe their tastes as "eclectic". Tell me about that.Toddla T: Well I first started producing when I was about 16, which is when I started going raving. I was exposed to loads of stuff like electro, dancehall, house, techno etc. There are some wicked party DJs in Sheffield who mash it up really well - DJ Pipe
Storytime. Your local library will have a story time, as do most chain bookstores. Even our local Pottery Barn Kids has a story time once a week.
Bathtub Finger Paints. Strip them down and use colored whipped cream or pudding so that when they eat it, well, no big deal.
Science Centers / Museums. Check local museums to see if they have toddler rooms. A lot of museums have one day a month with no admission fee as well.
Gymboree Classes. Call to make sure they’ll let one parent bring two chidren. Some places are not twin friendly.
Swimming Lessons. As long as there is an indoor pool you can do swimming lessons in winter. Again, if you have multiple children this is hard. You have to do it on the weekend so you can round up another parent.
Indoor Playgrounds. Enough said.
Local Park District Classes. Check with your local park district to see what kind of toddler classes they offer. During winter some places offer indoor classes.
Air mattress. Blow up an air mattress
Today was complete chaos. I have no idea why I’m choosing to write this rather than passing out on the couch with a big bag of blue corn chips.
A Realtor called me at 9:35am to tell me that he had a client to show the house to. They would be by at 9:45am. I can’t tell you how calmly I said um, okay. Hung the phone up and screamed. Woody walked over to me and said what’s wrong mommy? I said we have to go and clean and go. He said oh that’s terrible mommy. I have no time for you kid.
Ran around like a crazy woman doing all the things I should have done last night. ack! I left the storage room open so the boys decided to climb into Olie’s crate. Sure kids do whatever you want while I scrub down the sinks and vacuum. ack. Thank GOD I had just finished the dishes and cleaned off the stove this morning before the Realtor called because I would have said HELL NO do not come here.
My parents came by last night for dinner so the house was a mess last night when I c
A certain little boy would not wear his Halloween costume yesterday while we toured the halls of UMBC to trick or treat with Aunt Lulu.
Please notice the halloween costumes behind Melinda. (aka Aunt Lulu) Coupe would wear his costume only while we were inside and only while Woody was wearing his Lion pants. *sigh* Can’t wait to see how Wednesday goes.
At least Cooper knows what he likes. KitKat bars. They are my favorite too Coupe.
B is a huge Shakespeare fan. He’s actually read Two Gentlemen of Verona. Because I am a total freak I am planning on making bedtime Shakespeare story books with a synopsis of plot and some of the most beautiful lines for him to read to the kids.
Me: So…which of Shakespeare’s plays do you think are the most appropriate for kids?
B: Comedy of Errors. Oh, and The Tempest, but not the rape stuff.
By: Mike HermanIf your child is under the age of two and has been diagnosed with diabetes, know that there are many alternatives and options available that will control this condition and ensure your child has a happy, healthy, and normal childhood. The number of toddlers with diabetes is increasing, so know that you are not alone. Diabetes is a condition where the pancreas does not process sugar effectively. Since there are many different types of diabetes, ask your physician to explain the exact condition that affects your child. Also, consider seeking out parents of other diabetic toddlers in your area to glean information and support from individuals who are in your shoes. * Learn About The Disease * Diabetes can be frightening to anyone, but especially a parent of a toddler with diabetes. Instead of allowing the disease to take over your life, strive to learn as much as possible about the specific type of diabetes that affects your child. Also, be sure to learn the side effects of
We are blessed to have in our home toddlers and teenagers at the same time. As we watch our children grow my husband and I have noticed several similarities between the two.13 Things Toddlers and Teenagers Have in CommonThey can both throw great tantrums. They both think, "I can do it all by myself!"They both need to be reminded to brush their teeth and comb their hair. I haven’t posted for a few days, because I took some of my own advice and over the long weekend here in the antipodes I spent more time with the kids than with the laptop.
So this post is simply the highlights of the last few days distilled into quotes from the toddler Little Miss and others.
What I originally thought was going to be the highlight of the weekend happened on Friday night during the ritualistic tucking in of Little Miss in her bed. She looked up at Wife and stated, “I love you sooooo much mummy”, to which you could almost see the tears well up in Wifes eyes, and then without a beat Little Miss added, “you have lots of wrinkles.” Talk about shattered you could almost see the tears of joy changing to tears of anguish. That’ll teach Wife for laughing at Little Miss pointing out I was going bald.

I think we had too much birthday! Wednesday they woke up from their naps with pretty bad colds. We went to the doctor on Thursday for their 2-year appointments and by the time we got in to see the doctor, John was wheezing. He had to start breathing treatments.By Friday morning all three babies were congested and cranky. Now all three are on breathing treatments. Thank goodness big brother and mom and dad are ok. It takes a lot of energy to keep up with three toddlers who have noses running like leaky faucets. (Oh, and the albuterol makes John hyper.)This doesn't leave much time to post.
Basically the report, which is endorsed by the American Association of Pediactrics, the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, the Center for Disease Control and numerous other high end health and advocacy groups state that using over the counter Cold & Cough Medicines marketed for use with Toddlers and Infants do not work and have caused numerous deaths and emergency room visits. The FDA is meeting in October to discuss label changes stating the warnings.
The preliminary recommendation, from Food and Drug Administration safety officials, would apply to decongestant use in children under 2, and antihistamines in those younger than 6
An FDA review of side-effect records filed with the agency between 1969 and September 2006, found 54 reports of deaths in children associated with decongestant medicines made with pseudoephedrine, phenylephrine or ephedrine. It also found 69 reports of deaths associated with antihistamine medicines containing diphenhydramine, brompheniramine or chlo

Woodrow is obsessed with chocolate right now. He asks for it in all forms. Hot chocolate, candy bar, ice cream. He’s had it all. My FIL’s funeral gave him the opportunity to try all kinds of chocolate because there was so many relatives around that were spoiling him rotten…literally giving him anything he wanted. (I’m not complaining we needed the help and a little chocolate is not going to kill him)
Now we are experiencing the aftermath. He craves the chocolate goodness…who can blame him? The problem with all this is from 6am until 8pm he asks for chocolate. I can not consume the chocolate-ly goodness without him noticing and how do I get through a 14 hour day without chocolate? Is there a patch I can buy so I can get my fix?
I’ve been distracting him with fruit snacks and goldfish but that only works for a good 20 minutes. I can’t tell you how many times I explained to him that we do not eat candy bars for
Little Miss had a play date today with one of her little toddler friends, and it almost ended in tears. We have all heard the horror stories, the toddler that lashes out, punches, pinches, bites and scratches, well Little Miss’ best friend is one of those.
To be honest she is pretty good around Little Miss generally, even sharing her toys on occasion. Hell she even announces her love for Little Miss when they meet with a big hug and a ‘,I love you, you are my bestest friend’, it’s all very cute and adorable really. But this is the same toddler who at childcare is known to lash out at the other kids.
And today for once she lashed out at my adorable Little Miss - nothing too serious, just a swipe really. But I must say it took all my self-control to refrain from my initial impulse. I have never really been there before when another toddler has done anything to my girl and my initial reaction was to jump to her defence, protect her, and in doing so destroy her adve
I adore my True Religion jeans although to be completely honest, there are days that they don't seem to fit the same as they did on the day that I found them on sale. Anybody else have this issue? I could care less as the day you get a discount on these cool jeans is a red letter day and I'm thankful for each and every moment of the days they fit my tush nicely because these jeans are so cool! Anyway, this post is not about me but about the fact that now mommy and Little One are both going to be hot this fall because True Religion Jeans for Toddlers are on the market. I'm not willing to call my sweet baby girl hot, let's say she's warm as toast. Did I mention that these jeans are expensive? Yep, they are priced at $200.00 or thereabouts,(I paid less than that for my Johnny jeans!) but think how cute matching mommy and baby are going to be in their mother daughter style True Religion jeans!
One of the things I still struggle with in my home office career is to balance well between my office work, personal work, housework and parenting. I managed to convince DH to subscribe to Playhouse Disney channel as Clayton is getting bored with his collection of DVDs. He grew up with Baby Einstein educational series, Maisy and Kipper. But like any other 3 year old, his attention span is short. He still keeps himself busy with jigsaw puzzle, flash cards, vehicles, his scooter, motorbike, bicycle and blocks, but he’s always looking for something more and new. Sometimes, I feel guilty leaving Playhouse Disney on for too long while I do my work but it is so hard to keep that balance right.
How do you occupy your busy toddlers when there are so much waiting to get done? I love to hear your ideas.
