Toaster Oven Baking & A Meme
The other day I wanted coffee cake or a muffin for breakfast. But that would mean turning on the oven. Darn this heat. I went into the kitchen to grab a water and then it hit me! The toaster oven! Could it work?I used a Bisquick recipe. You know the ones on the back of box. And you know what? It worked! Instead of the 20 minutes it took 45 minutes but the cake was baked perfectly and tender.Due t

Frugal Friday: Using the top of your toaster oven
It's been a while since I've participated in Frugal Friday - either I've had nothing to add, or I forget about it! But I figured out a little trick this week that I'd like to pass along. The top of my toaster oven gets REALLY hot. I mean burn yourself if you touch it hot. The other day, I needed to cook some vegetables, but I had to leave the house for a while. I didn't want to leave them going

Fagor Flat Toaster Makes Me Question Everything [Toaster]
At Giz, we're in the habit of introducing new products every day, and in the world of gadgetry, specialty kitchen products are a dime a dozen. Today, though, I was taken by surprise by the simplest of inventions: a flat, barbecue-style toaster. When I spotted the Fagor TP-2006 X (with "acoustic warning device") on Appliancist today, not only did the form of it surprise me, but—after a little Googling—so did the fact that the flat toaster is not a new concept: That's not to say it's common, perhaps because however cool or useful it is, it's decidedly more dangerous than other two standard toaster types. It would beat hell out of the Black & Decker my wife and I got for a wedding gift, but then so would a lighter held perpendicular to a piece of bread at 6 inches. There is

      Toaster Oven
Do you know anything about toaster ovens? The reason I ask is because we'll need one if we move into the apartment around the corner. The kitchen is small, like a closet, and has no room for an oven. If I remember right, a toaster oven should just fit between the sink and the stove, but we'll have to store it somewhere else when we're not using it--perhaps on a shelf in the living room. When our landlords told us in December that they were going to sell our apartment, we cried. Alleke had taken her first steps in the living room where I'm writing. But, we knew our landlords were doing us a favor as well: we could only afford to pay less. Almost everyone told us to move out of the neighborhood. It was the obvious solution. We lived right in the middle of the city, and we had a better chance

One can see the color of the bread changing as it gets toasted. The glass plates you see in the picture will hold the bread in between and toast the bread as the glass is heated. What a cool idea! Read on for some tips that can help you eliminate possible problems with your toaster oven and ways that you can keep it in excellent working condition for years to come. One of the first facts about toaster ovens that consumers should understand is what they care adequately capable of accomplishing and what they are not. In order to operate your toaster oven safely and ensure that it continues to work well for a long time, it’s important to understand what your particular model toaster oven is capable of and what

He was a historian at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, where Poe is buried."We did it, myself and my tour guides," he said. "It was a promotional idea. We made it up, never dreaming it would go worldwide."But why did he do it in the first place?"I really can't tell you, I love Poe. I love talking about Poe. I had a lot to do with making Poe a universal figure. I'm doing it because of my love for the story."Apparently he did it to help save a fading image, and rescue the defunct church that housed one of America's darkest and depressing novelists. When h

Brushed Stainless Steel Toaster with LCD Screen
LCD screens are appearing everywhere these days, so why not build one into a toaster? This 800 watt 2 slice toaster from Krups comes with a brushed stainless steel finish, 8 toasting settings with variable browning and cool wall technology with the inbuilt screen offering a countdown to let you know when your toast is going to be ready. Admittedly, the inclusion of an LCD screen is rather gimmicky but we generally like the styling and, personally, anything with an LCD screen is alright by us. The TT6190 Brushed Stainless Steel Toaster with LCD Screen retails for $59 though, as yet, there’s no news as to whether the next model will offer Vista Slideshow capabilities or the capability to talk to this wi-fi fridge magnet (for no reason whatsoever). Cooking hoil for a new toaster oven
Recently we added a new appliance to our kitchen, a toaster oven from Homever that cost only 14900w ($15USD). Now that we have a toaster oven this opens up many doors that were previously closed. Reheating pizza will be a joy in the oven. We can now bake items, such as chicken fingers, cookies, muffins, even banana bread (you'll have to wait and see if we actually get around to making any of these though). On our search for some cooking foil, I ran into a similar product that I was hesitant to try. Some of you might have heard of this before and some of you might think it's just plain crazy. It's called "Cooking Hoil" and it's courtesy of our friends at Homever (remember the world's worst goldfish bowl?). Luckily we passed on this unique opportunity and went with the traditional tried, tested, and true product known to many as "cooking foil". Talk about dodging a dodge ball there, huh?Anyways, for those who are interested in my antics in the kitchen, here are my homemade chicken fi

It's all over so quickly, but there's one thing I can count on to be with me even after the season has ended, something that will remind me of the holidays long after the tree has been unceremoniously thrown to the curb and the last piece of gingerbread has been inhaled.I'm talking of course, about all those bad Christmas gifts. It's not that I'm ungrateful - I'm definitely from the 'It's The Thought That Counts' camp when it comes to gifts. It's just that I can't help but feel bad for the tree that had to die in order to make those wooden boxes adorned with cat portraits that I got one year, or the underage Thai children that worked at a knitting machine for hours to turn out that beaded, sequined, mauve vest a friend gave me.So I thought as a service to anyone in the midst of their shopping this year I would put together a gift guide, something to help you figure

      Retro Toaster Painting Still Life
This very impressionist and lose style of a retro toaster is another painting from my toaster series. I have painted toasters for the last ten years and can't seem to get my fill. I've painted high realism toaster art and very impressionistic style such as this one. Sometimes I'm in the mood to be free and lose and sometimes I'm in the mood to be tight and highly realistic. Hope you enjoy.Click Here to BidThroughout my years of painting these retro 1950' - 60's images, I've always found that toaster painting are perhaps the most interesting and most identifiable image of retro art. I've had toaster collectors, yes there are some, that have really enjoyed my paintings. The last 5 years my wife and I are always hunting garage sales, salvation army outlets and auction houses for some unique and interesting objects such as this toaster for my art.
