Once again, Obama has boarded the wrong train: will he spin this latest matter? Like he has been spinning his position on The Surge? "It won't work. It did work. It didn't work. It might have worked."

As most will know by now, Microsoft Silverlight is a cross-browser, cross-platform, and cross-device plug-in for delivering the next generation of media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web, an Adobe Flash competitor. Mary Jo Foley discovered a Microsoft blogger published the Silverlight 2.0 timetable. Microsoft blogger Ashish Thapliyal blogged on April 3 that Microsoft is targetting “late summer” for the final release of Silverlight 2.0. Here’s the rest of the “rough” timeline, according to Thapliyal: Silverlight 2.0 Beta 1 (Q1CY08 with limited (non commercial) Go-Live) — this was released at Mix ‘08 in early March Silverlight 2.0 Beta 2 (Q2CY08 with Go-Live) Silverlight 2.0 RTM (Summer 2008) – Ex

Home Secretary Jacqui Smith shows off her new ID Card. The Home Secretary has stated in the press this morning that she believes the new controversial ID Cards are a step in the right direction. She mussed over the professional quality the photo image gives and feels that in no way would any master forger be able to tamper with her new card.
I thought I was stressed and up against it coming into the festive season. But everything has been put into perspective thanks to a report from Sweden on Santa’s timetable for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Santa Claus is coming to town - for 34 microseconds.
It would seem that everyone’s favourite jolly old white bearded visitor has got the blink of an eye to land, get the right presents, drop down the chimney, deliver the presents, eat the cookies and drink the whiskey, get back up the chimney and move onto the next house. Not an impossible task but it’s no wonder he needs a year to recover!
Reindeer need to fly at 5,800 Km/hr to achieve the feat, the sleigh will experience some serious G force and air resistance en route but I’m sure Santa has thought of it. Otherwise he’ll be toast within 4.26 thousandths of a second. Bummer.
Reports have surfaced on the net that there may (we use the term ‘may’ advisably) be a parental timer on its way for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 gaming console allowing parents to enforce strictly regulated, timetabled ‘games time’ for their children – though, at the time of writing, we are unable to substantiate the rumour (regardless of what is being purported as being proof to back up the speculation).
The Speculation stems from a Teamxbox member going by the psudomin of ‘xgdfaith’ who claims that, having purchased a copy of Guitar Hero III Keychain the package came with a pamphlet that described the features of a parental timer that is (allegedly) due to become available via Xbox Live in December 07.
According to the apparent pamphlet the timer is ‘a simple tool that lets you manage how much time your kids spend on their Xbox 360.’ It goes on to say that you can ‘manage in daily or weekly increments’ and that the supposed tool will ‘become available in December

The Deacon program in our archdiocese is four years, but there is more to the story than that. My understanding is other dioceses have the same or even longer periods of formation, one of the Deacon formation team members said four years was "the minimum" in the US - but not to be considered that we will receive a minimum job of formation! Our guide for formation is 1 Tim 5:22 - "Do not lay hands too readily on anyone....". Since this is formation and not just learning a skill, it takes time - especially considering the human formation that I discussed earlier. The process starts with prerequisites. We have a separate institute, the Church Leadership Institute, part of the Archdiocese Ministry Formation and Development group, whose mission is to give lay leaders a foundation in theology, spirituality, leadership and ministry specific skills. The Deacon formation team piggy-backs on the Institute and requires Deacon applicants to successfully complete three courses:Theology of Minist
Who does not hanker for the bygone joys of extreme youth. After all it’s probably the only time in our lives where we can be truly selfish and do what we want, when we want knowing that everyone around us can either put up with us or we’ll just wait till 3am and then shout the house down. Yes, that’ll teach them.
But wait. What’s this strange gadget that looks like a 70’s themed pocket calculator with not enough buttons?
The answer is that’s an electronic nanny that offers push button timetabling for your young child. Yes, at the push of a button you can program in when its toilet time, feeding time, sleeping time, and so on - and woe betide the child that dribbles before the allotted hour.
Okay, if we drop the flippancy for a moment or two we can see that perhaps the device has its uses, especially if you’re the forgetful sort who not only forgets to feed your child, give him/her their potty-time and so on but is wholly immune to their wailing (or are just too stupid to

Democrats plan to send President Bush a military spending bill that does not include a timeline for U.S. troop pullout or billions in congressional pork, Democratic officials said Monday. The measure would also provide funds for the U.S. military in Iraq through the end of the fiscal year - Sept. 30, the Associated Press reports. The bill is expected to be finished in time to send it to the president’s desk by Friday. It will include political and military goals for the Iraqi government, and if the Iraqis do not meet these goals, it could jeopardize some of the funds the U.S. has promised for reconstruction. Also included in the bill would be the first federal minimum wage increase in more than 10 years.
Considering the Democrats keep telling us they were sent to Washington to end the war, it sure seems like they are enabling the war to me. If they really had a mandate to end the war, why are they not doing so?
Either they are misrepresenting why they were sent to Washington, or
From apnews:
By DEVLIN BARRETTWASHINGTON (AP) - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton voted Wednesday to advance legislation cutting off money for the Iraq war, then refused to pledge to support the measure if it came to a vote, then said she would. At lunchtime, the New York senator and presidential candidate was asked repeatedly by reporters whether she favored the troop withdrawal legislation that had just come up for a procedural vote on the Senate floor. Her answer: “I’m not going to speculate on what I’m going to be voting on in the future. I voted in favor of cloture to have a debate.”By supper time, she had a different answer.“I support the underlying bill,” she said. “That’s what this vote on cloture was all about.”A rival Democratic camp quickly criticized Clinton’s evolving - and possibly revolving - statements.
“We’re as confused as anyone on Senator Clinton’s position,” said Connecticut Sen. Christop
From Harry Reid:
“We’ve not, on this side of aisle, lost sight of the fact the American people have concluded the president’s Iraq policy has failed and we’re demanding a new way forward,” said Reid, of Nevada, who a few weeks ago concluded the Iraq war was “lost.”
Since when do the American people declare victory or defeat in a war? This is just insane that someone like Harry Reid can make a comment as ludicrous as that. The American people have declared loss, it’s time to surrender? What about the generals running the war. The intelligence they have mustn’t be as good as the intelligence the people are getting from the mainstream media.
If you really believe what you said Sen. Reid than just defund the war and end this big game you are playing with our soldiers lives. Bring them home now. Stand up for what you believe in, or do you not believe in anything? You know Americans don’t want to lose so you are trying to play bot
On Wednesday, congressional leaders met with President Bush to discuss a new bill for the Iraq supplemental spending after the veto of the first bill and the failed attempt to override the veto. Also on Wednesday, it was clear after the House voted 222 to 203, about 60 votes shy of the two-thirds majority needed to override the president's veto, that a bill with a withdrawal date would not get passed by the president. The four Republicans in the House and Senate that voted for the first spending bill were Senators Chuck Hagel (R-Nebraska) and Gordon Smith (R-Oregon) and the two House members were Walter B. Jones (R-North Carolina) and Wayne T. Gilchrest (R-Maryland). Democrats agreed to take out a withdrawal date from the bill but Democratic leaders said that they must have language included that will influence the war policy. After House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) met at the White House she said, "We made our position clear. He made his position cle
Well, we all knew it was coming and today it’s finally here. The Democrats have officially surrendered to the terrorists. Osama bin Laden was right all those years ago when he called America a paper tiger. We no longer have the will or resolve to fight for our country. It’s a sad day when America just curls into a ball and hides from the true challenges that face her.
Harry Reid said “We ask the president to read and to sign this bill. The president has a choice - heed the call of the American people, a bipartisan majority of Congress, military experts to change course or keep our troops committed to an all but ended civil war. The choice is an easy one,”
A bipartisan majority? Joe Leiberman voted against it, to nobody’s surprise, and only two Republican voted in favor of the bill. That hardly sounds like a bill with bipartisan support. It sounds like the vote was basically along party lines.
Nancy Pelosi called the war in Iraq “the greatest ethical
The vote was 51-46 with 3 Senators not voting; The still ill Tim Johnson (D-South Dakota), and Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) and of course John McCain (R-Arizona)Two Republicans voted with the Democrats;Chuck Hagel (R-Nebraska)Gordon Smith (R-Oregon)Lieberman sided with the Republicans
By a 51-47 vote, the Senate backed the timetable to withdraw from Iraq in 18 months. Two Republicans voted with the Democrats, Gordon Smith or Oregon and Chuck Hagel of Nebraska. Lieberman voted with the Republicans. A slew of 2008 incumbents voted "no," including John Sununu of New Hampshire, Susan Collins of Maine, Pete Domenici of New Mexico, Norm Coleman of Minnesota, John Warner of Virginia, Elizabeth Dole of North Carolina and Minority leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.Democrats got the votes of Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Mark Pryor of Arkansas, who were considered key swing votes. The bill now goes to the President to be vetoed, followed by a fierce battle to see who blinks first.Meanwhile, the Iraq war has found another shocking critic; King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, who called the war an "illegitimate occupation."
The Senate passed the emergency supplemental bill that included a withdrawal timetable to get the troops out of Iraq. President Bush will, of course, veto it, bringing himself and the Democrats to a face to face contest in which someone (the Democrats) will blink.Democrats got the key support of the most conservative Democrat in the Senate, Ben Nelson of Nebraska. Nelson voted for the bill saying benchmarks are good to judge progress. Two Republicans, Gordon Smith of Oregon and Chuck Hagel of Nebraska voted with the Democrats; Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) called them "two brave Republicans." Joe Lieberman of Connecticut of course did not vote for the bill, sticking to his pro-war stance. Senator Mark Pryor (D-Arkansas) also voted against the bill. Pryor is up for reelection next year, as is Smith in Oregon.Senator Thad Cochran (R-Mississippi) tried to get an amendment passed that would stricken the deadline language from the bill, it failed by the same margin the bill p
My snail mail copy of Corvette Fever just hit the in-box, and they have published a timetable on our highly anticipated Corvette SS. Claiming infallibility from a GM insider, the author of the article states that this vehicle program was officially initiated on June 20, 2005.The Anticipated Validation Testing completion date is October 15, 2007. The Start of Production Date is March 8, 2008, less than a year away!Body modifications of a grander sort than have been seen in any "spy shots" will be required to accommodate P335/25R20 tires. The inside word is that the supercharged 6.2L LS9 engine will produce 650 horses and 650 foot-pounds of torque! The transmission will be the six-speed MTX. Electronic limited-slip differential and a next generation brake and engine intervention traction control system round out the package. That ought to put thoughts of Vipers out of the minds of the last hold-outs![ Corvette Fever ]
British Prime Minister Tony Blair, according to the BBC, is set to announce a timetable for withdrawal of all U.K. forces, now totaling 7,000, from Iraq.
About five weeks ago, President George W. Bush addressed the nation with his decision to escalate U.S. troop levels by 21,500 in two key areas, Al Anbar province and Baghdad. Conservative blogger Allahpundit has a lot of links on the matter and is the only reason to link to his site.
Oliver Willis asks “guess who gets left holding the bag”? PoliBlog author Dr. Steven Taylor answers that upon the withdrawal of British forces, Iraq “remains wholly a U.S. problem.”
Just found my timetable for next semester on Webct. It looks just as I expected - Monday 9-2, Tuesday 12-2, Thursday 2-5, so thats an average of 10 hours a week lectures. Not bad! Also means I officially get Wednesdays off this time round aswell as Fridays. I start back next Monday, so I’ve got this week to try to get all the work finished. I have five assorted things to do for next Wednesday!

BBC:
Iraq's vice-president claims Tony Blair was "brainwashed" by President Bush into not setting a timetable for troop withdrawal from Iraq.
Tareq al-Hashemi suggested Mr Blair had supported his idea of announcing a timetable, but then changed his mind after talking to Mr Bush.
The two leaders discussed the issue about three months ago, after which the PM was to raise the issue with Mr Bush.
The US president has so far refused to set a timetable for troop withdrawals.
Speaking in New York, Mr Hashemi said Mr Blair had been convinced by his proposal for a timetable for withdrawal.
He told the Council on Foreign Relations: "It is quite unfortunate that your president made a sort of blackmail out of Mr Blair."
