While maybe not the most romantic of destinations, that doesn't stop them from sharing a tender moment amid the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple. For the longest time, I concentrated almost exclusively on the subjects in my drawings, all but ignoring the setting or background. But as I have grown as an artist, the backgrounds have become more intricate and complex. I was a little intimidated at first by the lights and signage in this piece. But as is often the case, the part I was the most nervous about ended up being the most fun to draw. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the naming of Times Square, the opening of the NYC subway system, and the first New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square. I was in New York City with some time on my hands a few weeks ago and I figured my time couldn’t be better spent searching out some candy! I decided to check out the 25,000-square-foot M&M’s World Store that opened its doors to the public in December of last year. The thing that struck me very funny about the exact location at 48th and Broadway is that it’s right across the street from the Hershey Store! Coincidence?
Once inside the store you’re immediately bombarded with bright colors and all sorts of items and merchandise displaying the M&M’s logo. You’re quickly greeted by the store employees who inform you there are three levels to the store and you should check them all out!

Yesterday I made the mistake of trying to walk down 42nd Street right as the calm was edging closer towards a confetti frenzied storm. Suffice to say, I did not make the same mistake twice tonight.
