We got to lots and lots of stuff this week, most of it involving the timeless tale of a majority who binds together to eliminate the rights of a viable and vulnerable minority group. But believe it or not, there...
The boy who threw his clock out the window because he wanted to see time fly wasn't just the punchline of an old joke. There is an amazing amount of truth to this concept. Here is an excerpt from my book What Is Really Good? on the topic:Time Is Relative "Time flies when you’re having fun." "A watched pot never boils." These two phrases are well known because of their truth. We can all relate t
Can somebody tell me where the time goes....One day just rolls into the next and before I know it I realize I haven't blogged in a few days. When that happens I usually get an email asking if everythings okay since I hadn't blogged. I can assure you that everything is fine. Just really busy with everyday life and now that school has started I have even less time available since we home educate
I have A LOT of catching up to do... I just can't do it right now. Coming up:The adventures of Liz in Greece. The adventures of moving house. The adventures of acute muscle spasms. The adventures of Kat n Liz in London.ANDThe adventures of Zoom airlines going belly-up.These are all things that have affected my life of late... with a lot of other little stuff in between. I promise a full account with
when you're having fun! I admit it. I've been neglecting my blog because I have a new addiction right now. You see, I've found YoVille (thanks to Kip), and it's all I think about. I try to get to "the...
Here was my stream of consciousness from earlier today:
Look at all that dust on the dresser! I just dusted last week!
Was that last week? Yeah, I think so. Right before we left on vacation.
No, Family Camp was last week. And we had a camp the week before that. Did we really leave on vacation more than three weeks ago?
Yeah, we left in June. June 27th. I can't believe I haven't dusted
How did my baby get old enough to consume things other than breastmilk and her fingers and toes?
If you could read the words on this page of Bella’s scrapbook, you would learn that she had her first food at 5.5 months, just like her brother. I wasn’t prepared so had nothing cooked for her. [...]
Roughly 12 hours ago I was saying something like,
"I'll be back after collecting the Pullip Doll with my sister and her boyfriend."
I was kinda expecting to come home and blog after that. But well... Things didn't really turn out the way I expected it to.
For one, we didn't manage to get Ala (the name of the Pullip Doll), which was pre-ordered like 2 weeks ago or something. Instead, my sister bought another doll in Ala's place while waiting another week for the stock to come in again. (Using my money yet again!)
In most cases, after spending so much on something, an individual would feel a little pinch to her pocket. But for this case, since I was the one forking the cash out... Well, you get the picture.
Anyway.

I didn’t realize I hadn’t posted since Monday, but I’ll be back in full swing in a few days. My sister is in town this week and we haven’t seen each other since our Mom passed away in the fall of 2005. My brother lives here too, so we’ve all had a great visit but [...]
Well, I never know it was Wednesday today, I was still thinking it was still Tuesday, now I remember more since yesterday was Tuesday Toot, well, it's good to know that there's something there to remind me hehehe! Anyway, just got up so late today, though, probably, I got too tired from shopping yesterday and roaming around at the department store, I just missed being at the store and shop, since mostly, when I started blogging, I always just went online and start shopping...well, so glad I finally did it last night too with my boys. And once again, I spent too much, I bought some new bath rugs and some clothes for our son Josh. Well, I just like our bathroom's looks now and it's all light green, plus I bought some display which formed of a leaf to put in the top of the toilet, not the i
We spent a wonderful 2 weeks in Duquesa over the Christmas and New Year. Highlights included a spectacular five course New Year's eve meal at Casanis in Marbella Old Town (definitely one of my favourite restaurants on the coast); bowling at La Canada (an excellent use of a rainy day); and an afternoon spent walking around Casares (good for clearing the lungs and the view along the coast from the castle on the top of the hill is breaktaking). There aren't that many new developments to report, but the refurbished and revamped Hotel La Duquesa looks very smart and I'm looking forward to trying out the new spa. As well as traditional treatments like massages, manicures and pedicures, you can also pay a daily fee to use all the different temperature pools and saunas. Can't wait!
Need to put something together to feed the Botts, IYKWIM?Last week end the Wife of my youth and me Traveled up the 99 to my sisters house, so we could spend Friday evening with one of our Spiritual Sons who lives with his family in Modesto. It was great seeing how some of the spiritual perspectives and practices are still a part of their lives and ministries. And we spent Saturday with another Spiritual Son, who is here from The Republic Of Belarus in the former USSR.DenO is on assignment from his company who is subbing out work from Google and will be heading home to Minsk next Saturday! I will be writing about our blessing with DenO from our trip in 1995 later on when I start the second year.It has been 2 years since we have seen him and it was great to spend the day with him. My Sister
Today's blog is not about breaking a record, but instead it's about something that happened between me and a fly on my birthday a few months ago!
In general, flies are not much appreciated, but several prominent authors have used the fly in their writings to make observations about life. Honore Balzac commented on the unfairness of the justice system, "Laws are like spider webs which the big flies pass through and the little ones get caught". Benjamin Franklin remarked, "A spoonful of honey will catch more flies than a gallon of vinegar" which might be interpreted as highlighting the value of kindness, and Miguel De Cervantes was probably saying "silence is golden" when he wrote, "A closed mouth catches no flies". Finally, Francis Bacon referred to an ancient fable about overestimating one's own importance, "The fly sat on the axle of the chariot wheel and said, "What a lot of dust I raise!"
One week ago... My hubby was making our entryway an art gallery, and my sis and her fiancee arrived from AZ, sleep-deprived, to come eat lots of pancakes and bacon with us (also sleep-deprived).
One year ago... I was doing NaBloPoMo, and was writing about how Peter and Angela needed their pj's on backwards and duct taped shut so that they would stop decorating their cribs with the contents.
Two years ago... I was dressing the kids as flowers and painting lots of pictures of them.
Five years ago... DANG! I was pregnant! And I was trying to work through setting up the store online and sell cards. Some things never change...(I'm referring to the trying to set things up online, not the pregnant part. Can I repeat? NOT PREGNANT NOW.)
Ten years ago... I was getting ready to celebrate my first Christmas as a married lady, in our sweet apartment. The first day I walked in, I knew where our Christmas tree would go.
And what have you been up to?
Just a brief note to say that I've not posted anything.
No, really.
Chris, the princess and I are all fine. Busy, involved with stuff, but good. We are getting ready for the various Halloween celebrations tomorrow, contemplating buying a house, looking at a calendar that is way too full for November and December, and quite possibly sleeping just a little more than we did in southern
I've just realized something. School is coming up really fast. It's starting only about 3 weeks. At that time, Josh will be going off to college. I won't get to see him much. It hasn't really hit me yet that I won't see him very often, but I'm trying not to think about it.
I'm making [...]
I can't believe it myself, but it was one year ago this week that Mondesi's House was officially unveiled to the masses. "10 Worst McClatchy/Nutting Pirates Moves" was the very first article, and it was a blast to put together. Little did I know that those 1,568 words would change my life forever.I've been humbled by the overwhelming response since day one. I do this site because I've always enjoyed writing (I'm the son of two journalism majors) and I've always loved Pittsburgh sports. I'd like to think of myself as a creative person, and when I hear stories about how much people love the site, it's incredibly rewarding.I could thank a number of people, but I'm going to make this really simple: the audience is what makes this site go. With no audience, are my words even heard? With no audience, how would I get all of the tips, photos, and links that make up so much of the content? With no audience, how could I continue popular features like the mailbag? I feel like I've becom
Wow! I can't believe I haven't posted since last Wednesday and I totally spaced off this Wordless Wednesday! Time flies when you're having fun, eh? I've actually been able to pick up a few more shifts for job #2 recently, which is good for the checkbook. I miss the time off though. I'm crazy....I'm allowing Oldest Princess to have a sleepover tomorrow night to celebrate the end of the school year. It was going to be 3 friends, but one can't make it so now it's just OP and 2 others.I've also decided to make part of this blog to deal with my weight loss. Yes, I'm trying again to lose weight. I keep just putting on a bit here and there. I now have almost 100 pounds to lose to be at my goal. That number just seems to be astronomical, so I'll need to take it one step at a time. Cause after all, "If It Were Only That Easy", I'd already be at my goal just by wishing it so, right?
Man is like a breath; his days are like a fleeting shadow.
Psalm 144:4
Lord, I don’t know whether it’s just that I’m getting older, but time seems to slip away so quickly these days. Days, weeks, months, years - they disappear before I even have time to look at them, till I find myself thinking, “Hey! Who stole the last six months?” (or, for that matter, the last six years?)
I read somewhere that time seems to go faster as you get older, because each year becomes a smaller fraction of the entire life you have lived thus far. So, when you were five, a year was 20% of your life - quite a big chunk, so it seemed awfully long. When you get to 50, a year is only 2% of your life thus far - a much smaller chunk, so it disappears much more quickly.
Seems like a reasonable theory, but it leaves me wondering: if time goes this quickly for me in my fifties, what must it have been like for Your people of old, who measured their lifespans in hundreds of years? After
Six months ago today I got married! I so cannot beleive it’s been that long already!! Since I had Ethan time has chosen to fly by…
For instance: my baby is going to be ONE in just over four months!!! So I installed a countdown to birthdayness over to the side. There is also a birthday wishlist for my lil Pooky. This is not a request, I am not stating “BUY US PRESENTS!” This is simply a general list of stuff he would like, or he needs if in fact anyone would like to buy him something. I don’t wanna get flamed with people calling me out saying I’m rude, and how dare I, blah blah blah….
Y’all gotta remember I have most of my family and friends living over 2100 miles away. And except for my mom and Lance, none of them have even met Tony, or seen Ethan (except for the multiude of pictures I bombard people with).
So if you wanna buy Pooky a prezzie, by all means go ahead; we will glady accept it and give many thanks for it. But if y

Where did it go? (the week that is) ..I reckon I blinked and almost missed it.I'm a little down on the start of the week but quite a lot of activity on my limit orders executing has seen the "balance" column increasing, so it is good to see the FR system working according to plan. Also the interest gain is starting to show its worth as part of the system. Now all I need is the floating loss to turn into profit again. So I currently have more dollars than my 2K starting point but less than my my highest point. I also have now paid two monthly fees which has to be taken into account. The prohibition on quoting figures on the blog makes life a little harder so as always if anyone wants to request direct information please don't hesitate to email ... turbobiz@winning.comIt is also good to see that the forums have quietened down after the heated comments regarding the recent "Black Tuesday". Let's hope we can all see a good recovery but I am prepared for the long haul and hope the syst
"I wouldn't like to think that this had been one of those dates where you knew within the first ten minutes that it wasn't going to work out, and then spent the rest of the date looking at your watch and feeling really uncomfortable."I immediately shifted my arm so that it didn't look like I'd been about to check the time, and flashed him a nervous grin. "Of course it wasn't like that! I've had fun."He smiles, "Good, I didn't think, I was just checking, you seem happy enough."Well, he was at least good at summing up the date in one sentence. Though horribly wrong at both body language and having even a bit of a clue about me.It dragged. He was lovely, Confetti was hilarious, though marginally inappropriate as a first date film really, and the atmosphere was good. The only thing lacking was any chemistry whatsoever. Evidently he didn't feel the same. His parting comment: "All good things must come to an end... unfortunately." To which I hastily kissed him on the cheek and then r
Wow! I can't believe it's been a month since I last posted - well, almost a month. A lot has happened in the past three weeks.I have my new, revised Healer's Helper site up, and my new ritaballard.com site is up and running. I've been busy adding content and figuring out how to administer these two sites.I've opened my hypnotherapy office, and have been busy posting flyers around town, getting the word out, and seeing clients.I have another hospice patient, so I'm seeing two a week again.I've been doing tons of blogging - it's hard to think of new content all the time! But I've been using life experience, which makes the best content, anyway. The cat had kittens this morning while I was gone. I had a feeling when I went to feed her and she wasn't there, and then when I went out to my car, I looked around the places where she usually is, but she didn't come running. Then I knew she was holed up somewhere with new babies. When I came back, I looked in her little porch ho
I cannot believe it. During those first few days home from the hospital, it felt like they would last forever. But they didn't and today marks my baby boy's 100th day!
