Tim Gunn Lets it All Hang Out
Darlings, who knew that when we wrote this in the early days of our blog, that ... well first off, that we'd still be here two years later, but also that there would be magazine editors out there foolish enough to ask us to write for them? That's right, kittens. Metrosource magazine once again invited us into their pages and this time we picked the interviewee. It could be no one else but our

      Tim Gunn in Albany
Regina V sends us this fabulous field report from Albany. Thank you Regina!Hey BPR! I had the great pleasure of meeting Tim Gunn on April 26th at Macys (Colonie Center mall) in Albany, NY. He was in town for the Macys/Liz Claiborne Mother's Day Fashion Show. Even though the event was slated to begin at 2pm, those of us who made reservations were told to arrive at 1pm to get in line. The line seemed to grow out of nowhere as the excitement built up. After everyone was seated - was told there were 200 seats - those without reservations stood around the back and sides of the crowd. My own seat was fabulous, being on the left side of the runway itself in the second row. The fashion show was terrific and showcased a lot of fashions that are younger and more hip for Liz Claiborne. So gl

Hi BPR! Love your website! I wanted to give you a different perspective on Tim Gunn's visit to Jacksonville, FL. I am an Operations Engineer at First Coast News in Jacksonville (and a HUGE Project Runway fan!) I was running audio for our morning show this morning where Tim Gunn appeared. My 17-year-old daughter, Christie, also is a huge fan, and came in to work with me this morning hoping to see and meet Tim. Well, not only did she get to see and meet him, but she told him her mom (me!) was the audio engineer and couldn't get down to the studio, so he said, "Well, let's go upstairs and see her!" And he did!! He trooped upstairs to the Engineering section and greeted everyone, came into the audio booth and shook my hand and we spoke for a few minutes (until I had to open a mic.) He was as

      Tim Gunn in Atlanta
Our first Field Reporter from the Tim Gunn/Liz Claiborne Tour is checking in. Thank you Heather for your photo and report. I attended the Liz Claiborne runway show in Atlanta on 3/12. They told me there were about 500 people registered and 300 seats so I hurried so I could get one. Tim and a Liz consultant greeted the audience and moderated the fashion show.Afterward, Tim went back upstairs and if you purchased $100 in Liz clothing you were able to get a photo with Tim and have him sign a copy of "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style" for you. I really wanted to meet him so I quickly bought a pair of pants and then waited in line. I guess I waited about 1.5 hours and when I got up to the front it was almost 9:00 pm. Tim was so very gracious, sweet, nice and still looked fabulous and unfrazzled. Tha

Tim Gunn Would Be So Disappointed in Me.
We are going to my in-laws for Thanksgiving dinner soon. I have debated all day on what to wear. What would Tim Gunn say? I know what he would say- the sweatsuit alternative, that comfortable yet stylish outfit every woman should have in her closet to be worn on a day you might normally throw on sweats. Ahh Tim, my love, I’m afraid you’ll be so ashamed of me today. My in-laws like to cook, and they do it well. And there will be food. Tons and tons of food. Waistbands will strain to the point of the snaps begging for mercy. Bellies will swell, and at the end of it all, we’ll collapse onto the couch like a bunch of bloated turkeys ourselves. Forgive me Tim, just for today, only sweats will do.

Cleaning out the Closet on "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style"
Now that we have seen four of the eight episodes of the first season of "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style" Team BPR thinks we are ready for a mid-term progress report. We thought it would be fun to organize this the way that Tim does - by cleaning out the closet. Here is a start:Keepers: Visiting the designer boutiques, meeting the designers and watching the MO try on the designer clothes - love that! The hair and make-up is uniformly excellent. The optitex program is pretty cool. I just like to see Tim sketching over the printout.Soul-stirrers: The look on the husband's face...Throwaways: Obviously, the underwear drawer scene. Also, the too-short sofa in Tim's "office,"Give-aways: The life-coach segments... maybe Dr. Phil wants them. Of course Laura Bennett is a Keeper.Menders: Veronica's hair and make-up. She is gorgeous, but her styling needs "mending."Also, more fun and less crying and complaining from the MO please.Okay - this is just a start - BPRs please add your suggestions. I realiz

From Bad to Fab: Some Fashion Candidates We'd Like Made Over on Tim Gunn's Show
Ho hum, the third installment of Tim's Guide to Style has come and gone and I was, well, as unimpressed as Trixie from Kora in Hell. I enjoyed the first two shows, but after a third formulaic installment I've become BORED with the predictable format. While JeAnne and Rebecca were a bit drab before, and while Tim and Veronica helped them to concentrate on purchasing stylish, well-fitted outfits, I'm predicting that after two more shows we'll all have trouble recalling one woman from the next.So here's my teensy suggestion for improvement: Ask Tim and Veronica to do a more memorable make over. How? You ask yourself. Well, choose some truly worthy candidates, for starters:Britney Spears: Anything Tim and Veronica do with her will be an improvement.Mariah Carey: Tim and Veronica could concentrate on helping her dress for her age and size.Amy Winehouse: While girlfriend has a strong look, it tends to descend to the traileur trashe side of life. I think Amy can look fab and cutting edge

      Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style
Ok, as you probably know by now, I met Tim Gunn last weekend, and have declared this week Reality on Bravo’s “Tim Gunn Week!” Today, I’d like to share with you a bit about Tim’s new show, Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style, as he shared with us some crucial news at the meet and great! The show sounds a bit like other make-over shows, such as TLC’s What Not to Wear. Tim Gunn, along with co-host model Veronica Webb, will act as style coaches to one lucky lady per episode. What Gunn and Webb will NOT do is make over the subject–she will make over herself. Tim teaches people first to rid themselves of bad clothes. They’ll split their closet into four categories: -items they LOVE -items that they love, but need to be repaired -items to throw away -items to give away Of course, the “keep” pile will get some extra scrutiny! Then, its time to shop. Tim will talk about REAL clothing–how to take the skills he teaches on the show to

      Tim Gunn Talk
Since I’m still jumping out of my skin about meeting Tim Gunn this past weekend, I’ve decided to declare this week as RoB’s TIM GUNN WEEK! Today, I’d like to talk a bit about what Tim had to say during the question and answer session I attended and when Beth and I talked to him and asked him a few questions: *Project Runway is set to premier in November. They just filmed the last episode, and the finally will be happening in February, so the exact premier date depends on how many designers there were and how many weeks off there will be. *Tim Gun’s Guide to Style is based off of his book, Tim Gunn’s Guide to Quality, Taste, and Style. It will premier early next year. They’d filmed two episodes so far and have plans to film 6 more within the coming weeks. *The show doesn’t tell people “wear this.” It teaches people to look for certain items of clothing and to clean their lives (and closets). If you haven’t read the boo

      Breakfast with Tim Gunn
I had a hard time getting the kids up on Sunday. "Come on, breakfast with Tim at 7:30!" I said brightly. Dan wouldn't budge. Kaitlin said, "I don't feel very well." (Two margaritas the night before....) I said, "Well, maybe a cup of coffee will help."We went down to the restaurant and ordered some coffee and juice. Tim arrived freshly shaven and smelling like soap in his trademark black suit. We ordered eggs and agreed that it would be okay to talk with our mouths full.I asked how the turnout was for the auditions and he said that the numbers were about the same as the previous year. The big difference was that there were hardly any students trying out. (This is a good thing.) He mentioned a few notable hopefuls like the young woman in full Renaissance Faire mode. (Don't these folks read BPR???) Hopefully we will see these in the Road to the Runway episode. After a brief discussion about our little April Fool's joke I got into "interview" mode. The first topic was Tim's book. I as

      Tim Gunn on Oprah!
Laura! I just returned from Chicago -- taping Oprah!!!!!!!! I still am pinching myself! I can't believe it! But don't get too excited. I'm not the whole show. I'm merely a part of the show. It is tentatively airing on Feb. 5. The show is wonderful. It's about celebrating women in their 40's, 50's, 60's, plus an incredible 70-year-old. It's a "feel good" show. I came in to work with all of the women and the styling of their wardrobe. It was three days, looooong hours, and a total BLAST! And Oprah is too, too divine for words! Ugly Betty was also a total blast! We taped my two appearances on January 8. I sorta-kinda play myself, but not really. I believe that people will assume that it's me being me. There's one point with Daniel Bradford (Eric Mapias) says, "Thanks for coming, Tim," but I believe that the segment will be cut. Anyway, I'm a fashion news reporter covering Fashion Week in New York. In the February 1 episode, I report "live from Bryant Pa

Tim Gunn to Appear on "Ugly Betty"
When Team BPR had the opportunity to see the Project Runway Season Three Finale Show at Bryant Park we observed that there was a strong "Ugly Betty" promotion going on at the entrance to the tent. There were girls dressed up as Betty and passing out materials and promotional gifts. Of course we only had eyes for Runway, but still, it was intriguing. Since Betty is on ABC, we were wondering what she had to do with Project Runway, but we were quickly distracted by other things. Well, now "Ugly Betty" is a huge hit, and America Ferrera charmed everyone last night at the Golden Globes. Some of the more established actors could learn a few things from her about being prepared with an acceptance speech. This young actress was gracious and sweet and truly beautiful. She had the entire room in tears. So, it is a wonderful surprise to learn that Tim Gunn will appear on several episodes of Ugly Betty. Read more here in "The Watcher." Thanks Mo. Dear BPR,The Bailey House event was wonderful and it broke all previous fund-raising records. There was a lot of media there, including Entertainment Tonight, so I don't know why there's such a dearth of coverage. And the crowd was huge in spite of frigid temperatures and icy conditions from the previous day's snowstorm. A good time was had by all! I am loath to tell you that I was the cheap date of the live auction. I went for $3,250, Jonathan Adler and Simon Doonan garnered $3,500 together, Barbara Walters went for about $7,000 (my memory fades here), and Anderson Cooper went for...$22,000!!!!! What can one say, except that he's worth every penny! Also, Bravo was a big supporter of the event, and the executives turned up en masse. My new Liz Claiborne pals turned up, too, which was very touching. By the way, I'm on Martha on Monday. We taped it this past week.
