Well, the ticks are just everywhere! Every time we are out of our yard, Mum has to check me over for ticks. I guess it's not too bad, since she gives me a little massage at the same time. Looking around the Internet the other day, and found this little fun ditty! Enjoy...And if you need more info on dogs and ticks, check out my previous post!
Ticks On Your Dog And How To Get Rid Of ThemBy Joseph Devine
Taking your dog out to the woods can be a good experience for both you and your dog. While you can protect yourself from any bug bites that might occur, you cannot however protect your dog from anything that might happen. When going [...]
It seems like the ticks are everywhere this year. When we were at the agility trial this past weekend, we heard people talking about how they found 1, 2 and 3 ticks on their dogs from walking them around the building where the competition was held.Gracie and I have been lucky. Mum has never found a tick on us, but we are vigilant about checking our fur for ticks anytime we are anywhere out of our

Ok - here is a stumper.
I cannot for the life of me come up with even one good thing about ticks. Yes, ticks. Those ugly little things that climb on you from the weeds and grass or drop on you from the tree's and then suck your blood and transfer bacteria that can also cause Lyme Disease if it's a deer tick. Those.
So... having done just a tad bit of investigation on the internet (like, 5

It has been brought to our attention that there is a new recommended method for tick extraction, and it is not the same as the recommendation in previous versions of our Melaleuca Wellness Guide. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now indicate that no substance should be applied to an attached tick. New studies [...]
On May 6th, 2008, North Carolinians will go to the polls and vote in the presidential primaries. The most recent "Real Clear Politics" NC poll average shows Democratic Sen. Barack Obama leading over Democratic Sen. Hillary Clinton 48.6 to 33.0. However as the primary clock ticks down, neither candidate is yet to receive the nod from North Carolina resident and former presidential candidate, John Edwards. It is unclear how much, if any, impact an Edwards endorsement would bring to the primary table. However it is a coveted endorsement by both candidates as they face the primaries in Edward's home state. Both Senators Clinton and Barack Obama have stepped off the campaign trail to seek his support.Even though Edward's wife Elizabeth strongly favors Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s univer
Maybe Chelsea Clinton should consider running for president if her mother fails to get the nomination. Obviously not now, she's barred by the 35 years old rule, but later on.When a questioner at Butler University, Indianapolis, asked if her mother's credibility had been injured by the infamous sexual relationship her father had with the White House intern, Monica Lewinsky, she replied like this. "Wow, you're the first person actually that's ever asked me that question in the, I don't know, maybe 70 college campuses I've now been to.'' Then she fired, "And I do not think that is any of your business."Quite right. Maybe the questioner would like to be asked publicly about personal activities affecting his/her family life? Chelsea added, "And I also don't think that should be the last questio

Welcome to Blog Your Blessings Sunday.I have three blessings to post today.1. IJ, now almost 13 years old, went hunting with his dad yesterday morning for youth weekend and he saw a buck. Jim said it was about 140 pounds, old and gray. Not many get to see or shoot one of those. IJ said he didn't shoot it because he didn't have a good shot and he thought he wasn't allowed to shoot a doe. But he regrets it.Jim and IJ are out again early today for another round and hope to see that deer. IJ says that this time if he sees the gray doe, he's going to shoot it. He has a good chance because the deer are bedding down on the bank just beyond our playground (the old llama pen extension).2. Apparently, deer isn't all IJ saw yesterday morning. Later that day, he came to us with a tick on his neck and another crawling up the front of his shirt. He freaked a little seeing how earlier in the week we had to dig one that had sunk itself deep into his hip. Then CJ found a tick crawling up her leg, s
I’m not quite understanding this one so maybe someone can help me figure it out. A woman’s group in Detroit called Full and Fabulous that deals with helping overweight women gain self esteem wanted Star Jones to show up and speak at a Health Beauty and Self Esteem Expo sometime in 2006. There’s a story to this about Full and Fabulous giving Star Jones money to fly to Detroit that used to go party instead which has the group peeved but that’s not why I’m posting about this. If you have a group devoted to being full figured and looking great through it, why would you contact a woman that’s not longer full figured after having gastric bypass surgery? Isn’t that sort of defeating the purpose? Wouldn’t it have made more sense to get maybe Monique or something?
With that said, it’s funny looking at Star Jones’ wiki entry and hearing that she denied having gastric bypass surgery in 2006 when I’m pretty sure she shrunk into

Dog ticks are another one of those terrible little pests that can really irritate your dog during the summer or warmer months of the year, theses creatures hid in grass and other surfaces and insert themselves within your dog’s skin in order to live off your dog’s warm blood.
Ticks are especially bad [...]
What do brown ticks and babies have to do with fashion? Well, not very much but this baby story deserves to be blogged because it was so cute that I wanted to share it with our visitors. Sometimes real life stuff trumps new fall designer clothes for babies. The children were playing in the front yard yesterday and once when the ball the were playing with bounced into a wooded area, the older of the girls ventured into the brush to fetch it. She was the hero of the afternoon's activities. Even the toddler recognized bravery and her act of self sacrifice was rewarded with cheers and enthusiastic applause. As the adult in charge, I saw the relief on the hero's face that she made it in and out of the underbrush with no injuries, snake bites or other mishaps. At least that's the way it seemed at the time. That night the order was administered for all to ready for bathtime as per the normal routine. I was finishing up the dishes when our two year old came toddling into the kitche

Ticks are generally not a common cat parasite but if allowed outside cats may pick up ticks on the ears, neck, and paws. They are usually discovered while grooming the cat because when they are engorged with the cat’s blood they can be up to 0.5 in (1 cm) long. One should never attempt to remove the tick without first applying a dab of surgical spirit. After a few seconds it can then be detached with tweezers or a special tick-remover, make sure to take care that the entire insect is removed. Some anti-flea preparations also kill ticks once they have bitten, but by that time the cat may have already scratched off the tick, and the jaws of the tick may have been left embedded in the skin, which could set up an infection.

I was going to write this post about how David Beckham opened his Galaxy account with a trademark free kick goal in the 27th minute against DC United in the Superliga semi-final. I intended to note how the crowd at the Home Depot Center was buzzing with anticipation the moment DC was whistled for a handball in the spot, and Beckham delivered even though he hasn’t taken a free kick in eight weeks. I also was going to mention how DC goalkeeper Troy Perkins has obviously never come up against a free kick like that as Perkins looked totally lost. Finally, I wanted to note how the Galaxy seem to play better as a team with Beckham on the field.
Then I made the mistake of watching national news outlets “cover” the game. I’m normally not one to complain about soccer coverage in the United States, and for the most part, I’m pleased with what we have. However, I have to comment on the coverage of this game. The pattern of nearly every sports highlight show wa
Welcome to Blog Your Blessings Sunday. We've seen three ticks, so far this spring, one of them in my 1 year old daughter's ear. AAAAHHHHH! Fortunately, it was walking around and was easy to remove. However, the incident started me on another round of "I hate living in the woods. I hate perpetual camping." Especially now that we have a dog.As I parked the car after returning from church, today, I muttered "home, dirt, home" and then watched the dust settle in our driveway. Something triggered the memory of our former home and the poison ivy spread throughout. I stopped complaining. Wait--we have no poison ivy. At least not where we normally walk. Poison berry bushes, yes, but no poison ivy. After getting poison ivy six times the first year we moved into our old home several years ago, because it was all over, I felt our family couldn't go outside. Even though I hate ticks, I don't feel that way about them. There will always be troubles no matter where we go. So I've exchanged poison i
Spring is here again. It's about time; I'm at the point where if I don't get out of the house soon I may need to be Baker Acted because I'm a danger to myself or others. Spring does mean ticks here in Missouri though and I've already had my first run-in. Lucky for me I have a tick specialist in my house. Last year my son decided to educate himself about all sorts of ticks and the reaction you will have if you get bit. He decided to do this after he got his first tick. Being from the East coast of Florida, you don't see too many ticks. I don't think they like the beach as much as they like the woods. Anyway, last year my son got a tick attached to his hip and started screaming for me to come and kill the spider that was stuck on him. When I told him it wasn't a spider but a tick, he turned ashen white, started crying, and feared for his life. I wasn't quite sure what to do either. The only run-in I'd ever had with a tick was a few years ago when one attached itself to my torto
