The advertising on many blog sites could be considered as shocking and awful. Many bloggers still believe that they can make money with their site by slapping twenty banners down the side of their blog, but this is simply no longer the case. By displaying that you have only a small amount of readers you are telling your visitor to leave your site, it is common sense. Let’s say I come to your webpage tomorrow, oh yes, I click on a link that leads me to your site; before I have even scrolled down I see a little thing that says 5 readers…’Guess what I do next…?’
Did you guess? I hope you did. Well…my browser it still up, but I am checking out ProBlogger, not that small site that had only 5 readers, I don’t trust that site for a minute, do you? This is why people should not be displaying RSS readership until you get at least 100 subscribers.

Way back when I was studying to be a teacher, I read a very illuminating book by Alfie Kohn called, “Punished By Rewards”. It presented a logical description of how using rewards in the classroom really hurt children, and crushed the possibility of children being intrinsically motivated to learn and succeed. But frankly, by the time I got to be a parent, I forgot all about the book, the author and the concept. I had already realized that teaching wasn’t for me long ago, so I never gave Kohn another thought.
