En Vogue - Don't GoI just got a thought in my head regarding the CSV Throwback Video and En Vogue came to mind. Now I have featured them before but immediately "Don't Go" came to my head. Madonna - BorderlineWho is the true "Queen of Pop"? It is a subject that can be debated forever. Is it Mariah, Whitney, Janet or Madonna. My bet is that Madonna would get a huge chunk of those votes. Madonna will be forever be looked upon a trendsetter in music, videos, and fashion. Take "Borderline" one of Madonna's many fabolous videos from her 80s heyday. After a particularly trying night here with E.B., and not feeling 100% myself, it's nice to find some bloggy manna from heaven that throws you a rope so you can hang on some more.

One of my favorite books is “The Time Traveler’s Wife.” It’s about this guy named Henry who involuntarily slips in and out of time, sometimes waking up several years ahead and sometimes waking up several years behind his present life. A couple of nights ago I took one of my students from Still Creek Boys’ and Girls’ Home to see “Grease.” One of the dances in the play was “The Stroll.” In the 60’s, we danced the stroll, did the gator, and rock and rolled with the best of them. The play brought back memories of cheerleading, dancing, and high school romances, -- good times.One crazy and dangerous game we often played was “running the box.” Someone would tie a long rope to a box, we would place it on the side of the road & wait for someone to come by, stop their car, or truck, to see what was in the box. My sister Noora from Finland e-mailed me some YouTube videos. As a seventies' child with ABBA's Dancing Queen my first lip-singing performance I have to appreciate them. Good times. I have two friends who I grew up with. We all lived on the same block, in the same town through our tweens, teenage fun, and through college. We all went our separate ways when we hit our twenties. The amazing live recording on Social Distortion's "Roxy" album (1998) is a true punk rock delight. Profanity-filled and high octane spirits fly as Mike Ness and the boys powered through their own songs and rock classics. Highly recommended stuff. Just don't let your kids get hold of it - there is no telling how they will end up - ! I have only seen them twice but they stand out as one of my favorite live bands of all-time. Today Greg and I celebrate our 6th year anniversary, so today’s Throwback Thursday is dedicated to our love! The picture was taken at Greg’s little brother’s birthday skating party in 2001.
