How many times have you been asked online to provide your personal information, such as your name, number and e-mail address? If you are like me, thousands of times, almost everyday. Each time you do it too, you have this aching feeling in your stomach, because you know you are about to get about a thousand spam e-mails now.So, what are you supposed to do? Give them a fake e-mail address? Perhaps, but what if they require verification. You know, they send you an e-mail and you have to open it up and click on some link. What are you supposed to do then?I'll tell you what I do, I go to a little website called 10 Minute Mail. The name says it all, they give you an e-mail address that is literally only good for 10 minutes. If you need additional time, there is a link that resets the timer. Aft
Although I don't particularly enjoy entertaining a houseful of people, I really (really!) enjoy designing and picking out the invitations and announcements as well as the planning and menus. I think that is the best part and honestly is half the fun of holding the whole shindig in the first place! LOL. Last night I was looking at some moving announcements online and found myself wading through
I didn't get a chance to put up my Throw Down Thursday post, so i'll do it today. People drink on Fridays too, no? First off, Amy Winehouse acted a fool yesterday in London when she got stuck in a traffic jam. This behavior comes just after the singer was arrested on Wednesday for drug-related questioning:"Amy Winehouse was arrested Wednesday in connection with a January video that allegedly shows her doing drugs at a party at her north London home. London's Metropolitan Police said a 24-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drugs possession. Winehouse's spokesman, Chris Goodman, confirmed his client was in police custody. 'Amy Winehouse voluntarily attended a London police station today by appointment. She was arrested in order to be interviewed and is cooperating fully with inqu

As I mentioned earlier, I attended 2 blog parties last week. They were so much fun and I felt privileged to be apart of them. So for those of you considering hosting a blog party here are some tips from my perspective as a guest. Thanks to Jill and Kristi for the 3rd Annual Blog Party!1. Make it easy for the bloggers to get to know each other before the party.Blogapalooza opened a Google Group for all us to talk to each other and get to know each other better. We each signed in as a member, introduced ourselves, and told how we knew the 'hostesses'. It was so fun getting an e-mail update and see the personalities come out ahead of time. Also, for that party, one of the hostesses (Celia) took the time to list everyone who's attending the party and link their blog on her side bar. These two thi

From: The deciders you don't elect Call them the superclass. Americans fixated on the political campaign may be missing a reality of the global era that may matter much more than their presidential choice: On an ever-growing list of issues, the big decisions are being made or profoundly influenced by a little-understood international network of business, financial, government, cultural and military leaders who are beyond the reach of American voters. In addition to top officials, these people include corporate executives, leading investors, top bankers, media moguls, heads of state, generals, religious leaders, heads of terrorist and criminal organizations and a handful of important cultural and scientific figures. It seems like Thursday is a popular day for drinking (at least for me anyway). As i'm making preparations to get my drink on and hit the club later, i've come across several drinking stories: First off, photos of Charles Barkley’s underage daughter, Christiana, partying with college friends have been leaked on TheDirty.com: Now, i can relate to her situation because i certainly started to drink before i was 21, but at least i was smart enough to keep the f'in cameras away. I'm sure Charles is proud considering the fact that he is a former alcoholic. [photo source TheDirty.com]PARENTHOOD IS TOUGHThe next culprit is Christiana Aguilera. Her husband had to help her stumbling azz get into their car after she threw down during a night out on the town in Los Angeles:I thought the drunk

They have yet to confirm their April 4 nuptials but we all know what's up, but Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z are certainly acting like newlyweds.
After the rapper's sold-out show at the Hollywood Bowl in L.A. Wednesday night, the inseparable duo headed to his private dinner and after-party at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel's Tropicana Bar. Neither wore a wedding ring, but in all other ways they were the picture of wedded bliss.
Knowles, 26, arrived just after 11 p.m. with Destiny's Child member Michelle Williams by her side – and her groom just a few steps behind, letting her lead the way. They headed upstairs to the "bridge" above the Tropicana Bar where they held their private dinner for 40 friends and family catered by the hotel's upscale steakhouse, Dakota.

Arsenal yet again gave away a penalty just after taking the lead against Manchester United. For the second time in a week they surrender their lead and paid the price for not concentrating on defending, with Manchester United eventually winning the game 2-1. After Emmanuel Adebayor had given Arsenal the lead, everything was looking rosy for Arsenal. Until William Gallas handled in the Arsenal box and the referee gave a penalty. Cristiano Ronaldo cooly slotted away the penalty, even though it had to be retaken. Owen Hargreaves' free-kick won the game for Manchester Untied, and what a goal from 25-yards! This result means Arsenal's title hopes are over and Manchester United are now six points clear at the top of the Premier League. This result doesn't help Chelsea's cause, as Avram Grant

All this talk of home organization and you'd think I was pretty amazing with the boxes and bins but you know I have those things I just can't bear to throw away. Normally if I don't use something within six months it's history but there are a few dark corners of the house where things are stashed--JUST in case. You never know . . . because if the world ends tomorrow and there's famine throughout the land I'm gonna need those Taco Bell sauce packets.1. Old sheets and towels. We got a set of each for our wedding and I believe if you were to search my linen closet you'd still find them there, nicely folded and waiting for the call to serve. I've replaced the sets several times in the last 15 years but I can't get rid of the old sets--once in a while I'll rip one up for cleaning rags or so

When Barack Obama compared his white grandmother to his minister did he throw his grandmother under the bus?"I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother — a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed her by on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe. Barack Obama on his minister, the Reverend Jeremiah WrightAn article in the Honolulu Advertiser told a different tale of Barack Obama's grandmother, not as the closet racist as he described her, but as a woman who worked hard, rose in her pro

Songkran is a special time of the year in Chiangmai and one of the nicest parts of this festive holiday is the pouring of water. Traditionally, younger people pay respect to their elders by pouring water from silver bowls on the hands of older persons. This ceremony is known as "Rod Nahm Dum Hua." After the family pays respect the elders ask the younger ones to forgive them for speaking harshly during the past year and the elders give them a blessing and words of wisdom. This is much different from the fun-loving water throwing we see around Chiangmai at Songkran, and it is often accompanied by the tying of strings around the person's wrists. This activity is done in the home while the more vigorous water throwing is done outside. Meanwhile, in the streets of Chiangmai thron
