I decided a couple of days ago to try to do 30 days of exercise a day. (I would prefer it to be running, but my stupid shin splint may limit me) I am going to do something everyday for the next thirty days no matter what. Today, Allie and I did a walk, jog, run around the block with me pushing the jogging stroller. That is a minimum of 50 pounds to push now with the stroller and a 28 pound toddler. I know I have gained weight. Between that and the jogging stroller, it provided quite a bit of resistance. We spent about 45 minutes playing at the park and I ran back home. Overall, I did about 2 1/2 miles plus chasing my two year old around the park. I would have loved to do the Silver Strand 1/2 Marathon this next weekend, but I am wondering how much running I am going to be able to do for a while (Sigh…if ever). I would love to do a marathon in January, but I am doubtful I will be up for much more than a half between now and then. I started back on the weight loss journ

Well, 2 days actually… But I’m still awake from yesterday, So I’m counting it as one. Turning 30 was about as uninteresting as the 29 years that proceeded it. I got drunk and watched the movie Vacancy on demand.. Well, Half of it. Then I lost interest. I’ve been up for 27 hours now, and am feeling completely retarded. But I’m hoping I can get back on a normal sleep schedule tonight. I will however totally miss the late night infomercials… And I swear to christ if I were rich I’d buy all that useless crap. Turning thirty isn't just anti-climactic; it’s the Y2K of birthdays. All the fear and trepidation, the nervous anticipation and the excitement of crossing this generational threshold, dissolve into the realization that for the rest of the planet (save those that share your birthday) it’s just another day in the world. If you're inspired to build a hovercraft yourself, you can cobble one together in about thirty minutes. In the mid-20th century, nearly every comic book and issue of Boy's Life had a boisterous ad in the back pimping the joys of hovering which could be yours by ordering the offered plans and building your own vehicle to float on air. What you got for your precious allowance money was a simple plan similar to this one. Who doesn’t love a little Sesame Street?? That’s right, the show is entering its thirty-eighth season today, including stars such as Tina Fey, Chris Brown, Brian Williams and more: Sesame Street remains (thankfully) true to its roots. Sure, there have been a few tweaks necessitated by changing times: You might notice that the famous theme song (”Come and play…”) has been given hip-hop and jazzy under-rhythms. But the show’s core mission — introducing (and making familiar) to children the educational building blocks of letters, words, and numbers — is alive and well, accomplished in a way that never talks down to children and still manages to amuse their parents.
