Son: “Mom, teacher was asking me today, if I have any brothers or sisters who will be coming to school.”Mom: “That’s nice of her to take such an interest in you. So what did she say when you told her that you’re the only child, my dear?”Son: “She just said…“Thank goodness!”

Wouldn’t it be great to have a Christian cruise? To get to see the adventures that the apostles have made during their time, the breathtaking views of the sceneries that they have enjoyed while they were doing different pilgrimage to different places to spread the word of the Lord, to see the massive structures they [...]
Yesterday was a bad day for me, a super rush day, with lotsa obstacles here and there, and in the end the project still failed. Was a little depressed by that, because the main reason of the failure is due to external issue, and i was unable to do anything to recover it.5.30pm, i headed back to office for discussion with the boss of how to proceed for today, luckily he was kind enough to ask me to go " pray to the God " , something to calm me down and bring a smile on my face.It was a long discussion of identifying the problem, root cause and ways to handle it today. Until The Boy called and asked me where i am. He was surprised that by 7pm i m still in office, so he offered to wait for me @ my office and we can have a nice dinner @ AMK Hub.I was really thankful and touched by that, becaus
"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." -Buddha, Gautama Siddhartha, Hindu Prince and Founder of Buddhism, Buddha books/We live in a society in which people always seem to want more. What we have is never enough. We are uber-consumers and obsessed with stuff. My house is filled with stuff that we don't need, yet we find a way to continue buying things. Am I thankful for what we have? Absolutely - my wife and I have worked hard to get to this point in our careers and lives. The stuff around me, though, is not what really matters. I am much more appreciative of other more substantial things in my

There's a lot of things to be thankful for and one of those things are for having friends, family around us in every steps of life. I always send thank you cards to my husband whenever he gave me something and as well as for loving me of who and what I am. Saying thank you wasn't only for just happy occasions such as weddings, birthdays, baby shower, bridal shower, anniversaries and many more, also saying thank you can be happen everyday, you can say thank you to those people who loved you unconditionally, for always there for you, and of course, now that Mother's day is fast approaching, it can be possible as well, to send your mother a thank you cards to say, how grateful and thankful you are for having a mother liker her? You see? There's a lot of things to be thankful for? And, it is
My Thursday post is dedicated to expressing or communicating the importance of gratitude in life. Yesterday was my final time teaching my power yoga class before maternity leave begins. (I am teaching on Saturday though, just in case any students are reading!)I must admit to being relieved this commitment is winding down since I am so HUGE and run down, but I didn't realize how bitter sweet it would feel. For about a year and a half, I've been teaching at the YMCA and have created friendships and a sense of community within my classes. Several people attend regularly, and I've been fortunate enough to get to know glimpses at a time of many of them.My Wednesday night class can be hit or miss with attendees, but last night it was full to the brim, I guess because they knew it was my last one
Everything that made me smile today:Elliot slept in until 7:30 today even after getting disturbed sometime around 5 o'clock. The chcocolate chip cinnamon buns we ate for breakfast.I managed to have a nice long conversation with a friend from toddler group who had her son the day after Joshua. Also started up several conversations with other mothers at toddler group (something which I'm usually too shy to do! go me!)Both boys took their naps at the same time this afternoon which meant I could sleep for a whole hour!In fact, Joshua managed 4 hours between feeds, a first for him.The postman delivered a big box of books from Amazon today.Five Life are finally showing the last few episodes of Dawson's Creek... the only series of Dawson's Creek I have yet to own on DVD, so it was nice to see them

Are you full of worry or fear? Or are you already happy? Are you striving towards new goals, but losing life balance in the pursuit of those goals? Are there many things you want in life still? Dreams to follow ... but afraid of your own limitations? What if you actually had everything you dreamed of achieving right now? What would your life be like? You would be happy right??But think about it - can you imagine if you actually did have everything now? What would there be left for us to strive towards. To dream about ....Today, I want to give you a little 'Stop and Smell The Roses Moment' - a short poem about 'Gratitude' and 'Being Thankful' for our Limitations and the dreams we have yet to achieve ..... :-)BE THANKFULUnknown Author"Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you de
It's been a tough, tough real estate market this spring. Buyers are indecisive, sellers are defensive and most real estate agents are just plain grumpy. In previous years, I've sold as many as five houses in a week during the spring and as many as 7 during the month of March. This year, I've only put together a total of five transactions in first 15 weeks of the year.
So I was feeling a bit
This week I thought that I would combine Thankful Thursday and Thursday Thirteen.Psalm 50:23The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me;to one who orders his way rightlyI will show the salvation of God!”I am thankful for.......The birds and their songs. I do not have a perfect life and have suffered many heartaches but, I live a life that is abundantly blessed! The Lord has been more than gracious in dealing with me and my family. I am and will always be eternally grateful!I am thankful for the gift of eternal life that the Lord has bestowed upon me.I am thankful for the children he has blessed me with to love, teach and to train for his glory.I am thankful for an indescribably amazing husband.I am thankful for the new life being knit together in my womb.I am thankful for my internet friends, for the support and encouragement they give to me.There is so much to be thankful for and it is important to give thanks and to dwell upon the blessings and not to focus only on the difficulties. May my life be a testimony of praise unto the Lord!
My toddler has a runny nose. I don’t just mean today, I mean always. It’s really disgusting. I’ve taken her to the doctor countless times. There is no medicine, no remedy. She just produces large amounts of snot. You deal with what God gives you, people. When she gets up from a nap, I always clean her nose. It’s a necessity since she breathes out of those two little holes. The other day, I was wiping and swiping and I dislodged an enormous nugget. In some weird chain of events, it fell from the tissue and landed on her lip. Before I could remove said nugget, she did the unthinkable. She licked her lips. Now this is the toddler who is in a finicky phase and will only eat beige food. Guess what my picky-eater said? “Mmmmmmmm.” I took this as a sign.

Focusing on gratitude is a great way to bring more abundance and joy into life. What better way to reiterate this focus but to blog weekly about it, whether it is my own personal list of gratefulness or the value of being thankful in life. And what better day than Thursday? Get it? THankful THursday - again, utilizing alliteration. It's a bit cheesy - sue me.What I'm grateful for today:My husband sprucing up our first-floor bathroom. He figured out how to change the light fixture and painted! For anybody who saw my last blog post about my Dad's brain tumor, but hasn't been following our new family blog for updates on his progress, I wanted to do a quick update.Tina and I are back home in Northern Virginia after spending about a week in Charlotte with Dad and Mom, my brother Sean and his fiancee Anna, our Aunt Joan, and (for part of the week) our Uncle Edd and Aunt Linda. Tuesday and much of Wednesday were spent at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where our expectation was that Dad would be undergoing brain surgery to try to remove as much of the tumor as possible. The risks of this surgery were scary: Dad might lose his ability to speak, or large chunks of memory, or mobility, etc. Literally just before the surgery (during pre-op), we found out that the plan had c

-The taxes I pay because it means that I'm employed.

I am so thankful Mackenzie's levels are normal. It is all I thought about all day and finally around 2pm I called and I was so darn happy I could have cried. After Mackenzie and I left the lab this morning we went to Meijer's so that she could pick out something for having to get her blood drawn again. She did a great job and was very brave, this time she sat on my lap and had it down, Daddy
I got a call from a loan officer in Lansing, Michigan recently and he called to tell me that he was an avid reader of my newsletter but was giving-up and throwing in the towel. He said he was burnt-out, tired of chasing realtors, and dealing with customers that play games. He had had enough!
So, it’s Christmas, and despite all the shit I’ve been put through recently, I still think that it’s a time to be happy and to reflect on the things that made 2007 a spectacular year for me. I figured that 12 was a Christmassy enough number, so here are the top 12 things I’m thankful [...]
I would believe that most of us who work from home are geared up for the coming Christmas and as far as work is concerned, it’s a time to wind down. This month is dedicated to a family vacation and I am thankful to take a break like this. (more…)
Thanks to Angela from Garden Bliss I've been tagged for the "8 Things I'm Thankful For" meme.
It's okay though. Ever since reading Colleen's Thanksgiving post I've been wanting to share a few of the many blessings that I've been endowed with. Plus, after reading this quote by Bobby Kennedy in our Saturday paper I've been thinking more on how I measure success in my own life and what are the many things I just take for granted. Sometimes I get it wrong...
Gross national product...measures neither the health of our children, the quality of their education, nor the joy of their play. It measures neither the beauty of our poetry, nor the strength of our marriages. It pays no heed to the intelligence of our public debate, or the integrity of our public officials. It measures neither our wisdom nor our learning, neither our wit nor our courage, neither our compassion nor our devotion to country. It measures everything, in short, except that which makes life worth living, and it can
The other day I got home around 10:45 PM. I had been studying in the library in the dungeon (basement floor). Since there was no cell phone reception down there, I didn’t find out I had a voicemail until I got back home.
My mom had left a message. I wasn’t sure what she called for, but in the message she left she complained about my voicemail greeting. My voicemail greeting is an Italian-accented male voice. It sounded funny at the time… so that’s what I chose to use. So I’m listening to this voicemail message from my mom and she’s complaining about my “ugly” greeting and then offers to record a message for me.. lol.
Well after listening to the message I call home. As the phone is ringing, I’m just hoping that my parents didn’t go to sleep yet. Before the third ring, my mom picks up the phone. I say hi. She says hi. I tell her where I was and why I couldn’t pick up the phone. This whole time I’m wondering why she
1. I am thankful for the Thanksgiving weekend we had. It was a great time with friends; it was also a restful and productive weekend.2. I am thankful for Amanda and Heather who faithfully go through the 40 Days With The Son Devotion with me. They have been such a encouragement and inspiration. I must admit that there were times I get so hectic that I am tempted to not read for a day, but then I get reminded when I see their posts. Surely this devotion is helping me focus on Christ - the reason we celebrate Christmas.3. I am thankful for the ladies and blogger friends who have tagged me for a meme. I always feel "loved" when I get tagged because that means they thought of me :). Unfortunately I am so behind in doing the memes. Nevertheless, I am thankful for them and will try to do them when I can.4. I am thankful for my work. If you're a regular reader of this blog you know that my desire is to work less to spend more time with my family. It's not that easier to reduce my hou
I woke up on my 27th birthday, and my first thought was “what the crap? Is that sunlight streaming through my window?!”
Not the best way to wake up, I admit, but there’s a reason for that. You see, I have something grand planned for my birthday, but due to weather concerns and scheduling conflicts, I had to re-schedule it. The weather bureau have forecasted thunderstorms for the 28th, so I cancelled my original plan.
Despite my ruined plans, my day turned out nicely. I had a great lunch with my sister and her husband (if ever you find yourself in Melbourne, head on to Kobe Jones over at Docklands. The food is simply fantastic), and got to explore parts of Melbourne that I haven’t seen before.
You see, I got lost. The plan was for me to take the ferry up the river from Williamstown to the City. However, I changed my mind and opted to check a couple of shops and ride the bus home. After shopping for some gifts, I went to the nearest bus stop and found out that it
Things have been busy around here with Thanksgiving and a sick little Lani. My niece, Jenna, came over on Wednesday to play on the sewing machine. I told her she could make anything she wanted for herself and she chose to make Lani a blanket. How super sweet of her. It is still a work in progress, but here is a picture of her working on it. Jenna picked out the fabrics, and did all the sewing and pinning herself! She did a great job. I also received a very special package in the mail that day!! The UPS truck pulled in my driveway and I expected it to be something I ordered on line. But instead I opened an awesome birthday package from Lisa! She sent me the most perfect box of goodies!! Thank you so much Lisa for your thought fullness!! Each item was perfectly ME!!! ***********************************************************************************Our Thanksgiving was nice and relaxing despite Lani being under the weather. She was fine all morning, then she woke up from her nap with a
The wires have been quiet today with our cousins in America celebrating Thanksgiving Day. Clearly an American celebration, formalised by Abe, although the roots in Harvest festival are worth noting. The Brits have been doing this since pagan times and the original haerfest is from Anglo-Saxon and means 'Autumn' (Fall). I gather the native America Indians had a similar way to celebrate the harvest. So not surprising when a boatload of British and European religious separatists turned up on the shores of what would become Plymouth 2, that they would invoke some of the traditional festivals as a way to encourage and celebrate the harvest. So, whatever interpretation you have for the celebration, "Happy Thanksgiving". now be thankful
Like Valentine’s Day, I am hoping that, collectively, everyone learns to be thankful for the blessings in their life every day of the year, and not just the fourth Thursday in November.
This holiday isn’t very closely tied in to much ‘Hallmark-ing’; there’s no serious cards to be seen, no extreme gadgets that scream and whine in cheesy songs about turkeys and mashed potatoes that you feel the need to smash with a hammer after 2 seconds. This holiday is mostly about food, long and away from it’s origin of celebrating the harvest (’cause, really….how many of us spend the two months prior to Thanksgiving in a fit of harvesting and preservation?) but thankfully, it does prod many people, myself and Mike included, to make a note of what we are thankful for, and what blesses us in our lives.
So here is mine- this is an ongoing thought process too; it won’t stop at any point in the year.
-My husband; smart, loving, kind and caring. He lov
I am just about to head to bed. But before I do, I wanted to take a moment to write about what I am thankful for. Firstly, I am ever thankful for my family. They are a beautiful source of creativity and happiness in my life and I am truly blessed to have them. Secondly, I am thankful for my friends. Though this really doesn't come in "second" as my friends are my family as well. We may not
Clearwater Beach Florida - I hope you and your family are having a wonderful Thanksgiving this year. We've all heard the adage, "An Apple a Day helps keep the Doctor away" - well most of us forget that adage already assumes you have your basic food needs met. Unfortunately for some here in the Tampa Bay area that's not the case.As Jack and I sit here in Clearwater Florida today, like our Port Orange FL Realtor friend, our thoughts are not about "real estate". Today we're reflecting on all The Things we're Thankful For and it's easy to start racking up a long list. We're thankful for our family and friends; We're thankful for all the people we've gotten to meet while sharing our home town with them; We're thankful for our health - it helps to live in a place where you can be outside and active all year long and get a natural source of vitamin D. :-)We're than
I'm writing this in a post-Thanksgiving-dinner haze. It's been a day of good food, champagne toasts, and lots of conversation and laughter with my family and friends.I have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving day. A husband I can say after 33 years together that I'd marry again. Two truly amazing kids. An extended family I love, and good friends.I'm thankful for the roof over my head, the food on my table, and the clothes on my back, which could be gone in a flash without my job. Although I moan and groan about it, I'm thankful for that job, too.I hope you and yours had a wonderful Thanksgiving day!
When I think about my life, I'm content. There's a lot going right. Even though my family isn't perfect, I'm always happy that they are my relatives. I always feel lucky to have such great friends around. As time goes on, I have started to appreciate the little things in life more. You Are 91% Thankful You're an incredibly thankful person, and everyone around you feels very appreciated. You inspire people to be more optimistic, forgiving, and grateful.
There’s something about Nationally Recognized Holidays that makes my family highly susceptible to communicable diseases, viruses, bugs or essentially any other super germ that causes flu-like symptoms including but not limited to cramping, cold sweats, projectile vomiting, projectile diarrhea, projectile diarrhea while you are projectile vomiting (the effect comparable to stamping on a half-dozen mustard packets) dry heaving, dizziness, sudden hair loss followed by sudden hair growth, lack of muscle control, and the Jimmy Feet (when I’m sick I constantly rub my feet back and forth until my socks are on backwards; seriously)
The last three Christmases have in fact been marred by one or all of us contracting some form of influenza or strain of the Black Plague. The worst occurred when Jack was two and my parents had to take Jack to their house for a day while Kathleen and I writhed on the living room floor taking turns to crawl to the kitchen to fetch ice pops, Jell-O and Pedialight
Happy Thanksgiving!
In honor of this, the day of Thanks, I'm going to share a few things of which I'm deeply appreciative.
In no particular order, I'm thankful for:

digital music
the internet
the power of open source
free speech
pumpkin pie
apple pie
pretty much any kind of pie
technology's vast horizons
my health, family and friends

In place of tales of woe today I will do the 'obligatory' Thankful post...I have a lot to be thankful for. I am thankful for...my husband who spends the morning attempting to 'help' while I'm trying to prep for Thanksgiving. Who cleans the bathroom so that I can cook...and who tells me daily that I'm a 'good wife'...and somehow knows when I'm having a bad enough day that I need to hear it more than once. When I'm going bonkers, he's calm; when he's going bonkers, I'm calm; our balancing act makes for a good marriage. I am thankful for...my oldest child. Who is smart enough to get on the A/B Honor Roll his first trimester, despite starting off the year with an adjustment period that began with three F's. That is so book-smart...but still manages to maintain a 9/10 year old's lack of common sense. That spends time with his sisters and almost always gets them laughing.I am thankful for...my Molly. She is the smartest baby ever. Despite the limitations of not always
This is the final installment of my series of posts on things I'm thankful for. Never done a series until now. Think I kinda like it. Here's what I'm thankful for on this Thanksgiving Day 2007: I'm thankful for a tiny little building on the campus of North Greenville College in the boondocks of Tigerville, SC. This little building is called Hayes Ministry Center. It was in this building that I met the woman who was to become my wife, Tasha Joy Litke. It was during our time playing in the BSU (Baptist Student Union) praise band at North Greenville that we met, dated, fell in love and well, the rest is history. It was in Hayes Ministry Center, the location for our weekly worship gatherings, that I first laid eyes on Tasha, the hot violinist that added an unbelievably sweet vibe - the only musician who really knew what she was doing out of the whole band of ragamuffin, second-rate, musician wannabe's. She was more than the icing on the cake. She WAS the cake.It was in Hayes Ministry

Happy Thanksgiving! Hope everyone enjoys an excellent holiday with their loved ones. I'm grateful for a lot of things, including my family and friends, my health, my steady job, our nice place to live in a very nice neighborhood (when will it be safe to buy again?). Too many other things to mention. On a day like today, it can't be very nice to be a seller who either can't find a buyer, is facing foreclosure or who is looking at a tough financial road ahead as they attempt to unload their property at a loss and rebuild their finances. We wish all of them the best. Particularly the owner(s) of this San Juan Capistrano house. Not a condo this time, but a single family home.Considering how big the loss is, though, it is likely and we are optimistic that it's a bank or banks that will be absorbing the brunt, and the individual owners will be relatively spared from the fallout of a loss of at least 42% in value in a year and a half. 29425 Avocado Lane, SJC, 92675 Asking
It’s Thanksgiving day…I’m alive, I’m healthy, and I have people who love me. For that reason, I am going to be predictable today and list some things that I’m thankful for. Keep reading, because it’s going to be more interesting that last sentence sounds. I promise!
… but this freaking chapter doesn’t refute my freaking morbid theory that Komui is going to get freaking killed off sometime soon! Seriously; I’ve had this theory for the past 3 chapters now. And there’s such a surprising ending to this chapter that I think Hoshino-sensei is about to have a little too much fun… [...]

Thank you Lord, for every night I lie down in a comfortable and safe home. But, an estimated 100 million people worldwide are homeless.
Lord, I pray for all women and men, boys and girls who are homeless. For all these people, I pray that you will provide shelter, security and hope.

Thank you Lord, for there is always plenty to eat in my house. But, so many in this world lack and struggle daily for sustainable nourishment.
Lord, I pray for those who, right now, are feeling the pain of physical hunger and the anguish of malnutrition. Lord, fill them and energize us all for the task of feeding our hungry brothers and sisters on your behalf.

Thank you Lord, for in my country I enjoy great freedom. Though I have many grievances with our leaders and institutions, I truly appreciate the honor and opportunity it is to be an American.
Lord, I pray that You grant us the grace to fearlessly contend against evil and to make no peace with oppression; and, that we may reve
Finally! Thanksgiving is here. Today is all tradition: some juicy turkey, lots of gravy, mashed potatoes, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and of course a lot of things to thank for. That’s what this is all about, isn’t it? So let’s be thankful. Let’s be really thankful for having sports betting games today before we go crazy with all our family around the house!
We have some hot NFL football games to go with the turkey today. The Green Bay Packers will face the Detroit Lions in a very interesting game, the New York Jets will go all the way to Dallas to face the Cowboys, who have a clear advantage (not only because of the home field, but because they are 9-1, while the Jets go with a poor 2-8).
And just to finish this Thursday Night Football, Atlanta will be home for a great game between the Falcons and one of the strongest NFL teams: Indianapolis Colts. The Falcons look a little weak for this match (since they’re just 3-7 this Season), but at least they have their own f
I was just going over my numbers today and noticed I just passed 35,000 total unique visitors on this blog. The strange part is it was only a few weeks ago, on November 6th actually, I was crowing about passing 30,000. So apparently I have picked up as much traffic this last 16 days as I had for all of September and October. Woo hoo!Anyhow, Happy Thanksgiving to all my regular readers, to any new folks I have managed to wrangle in here, and of course, to the weirdo Ron Paulites and GOP trolls that make my comments a living hell. What am I thankful for? Firstly, as an atheist I don't give thanks to any supernatural beings for the good in my life. Not to demean those of you who do, I just don't find it necessary to pay obeisance to higher powers at all, really. I do, however, thank my friends and family for putting up with me, my readers for keeping me going, and the American public for finally starting to get a clue.So once again, Happy Thanksgiving to all!! Hopefully by this ti
Happy Thanksgiving! There is some good news for those facing Foreclosure in Real Estate for the Sacramento area and all over California for that matter.
This week, Governor Schwarzenegger met with 4 of the largest loan servicers who are servicing subprime loans. The Governor asked these loan servicers to voluntarily agree to NOT adjust mortgage rates on their subprime loans which constitute 25% [...]
Happy Thanksgiving out there to everyone.
Here is what I am Thankful for on this, and every day:
My wife and children. I have a wonderful family, a wife who is also my best friend, and two well behaved (most of the time) boys who are very good kids. They make me proud.
My family. My mother and stepfather, father and stepmother, brother, sister and their spouces. My step brothers and sisters. My in-laws. I must have it pretty good, even my in-laws are OKAY.
America
You, I am thankful to all the readers who come here on a regular basis, and those that come here once and never return.
The troops, let us not forget that while we are sitting down at the dinner table with good family and friends that our troops are far away from home this Thanksgiving fighting to preserve this freedom we are so thankful for today.
that for which i’m thankful, originally uploaded by slight clutter.
For those in the Flickrverse who celebrate it, have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
For everyone else, have a beautiful day!
Thanksgiving is finally here and I’ve made the cranberries and stuffing to take to my sister Donna’s house.
Got the TV on and watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade which makes me wish I was in NYC for the holidays!
I promised myself I would spend this day with my family and take the day off from blogging and real estate.
For many of us, this is the one time of the year when we take time to notice the blessings in our lives.
So here I am to make this one post today and reflect on what I am thankful for and in no particular order:
I am thankful for my health
I am thankful for a very loving and considerate husband and family, extended family and friends
I am thankful that I live in freedom in the USA
I am thankful for the men and women who protect our country
I am thankful for the medicine that keeps my mother’s condition in check and for the Flordiez family who take care of her
I am grateful for the work I do and all our clients
I am thankf
HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Even if you aren’t an American, today is still a good day to just relax and have a good time. There’s a lot of fun stuff out there to make your day, so why don’t you try some fun and addictive games or just take a break? Blogging is hard work so get your mind off of it for a little while and enjoy yourself - this day only comes once a year!
After you’ve had your fill of games, I would like to discuss the role comments are going to play this holiday. Everything is, of course, optional, but you will only benefit from the festivities! COMMENTS:
1. Tell me what you are thankful for. First things first, since it IS Thanksgiving! In your comment, please let myself and the other bloggers and visitors know what you are thankful for - whether in be in the real world or the online one. Passing around gratitude is good for everyone. It makes you happy and soothes your spirits. So please let us know the things in your life that you really appreciate and
It just wouldn't seem right to do anything but a "thankful" post today. So, while not original, a very heartfelt Thirteen Things I am thankful for:
1. My faith
2. My husband
3. My sons
4. My father & the time with my mother
5. My sister
6. Her children
7. My friends both IRL & internets
8. The opportunity to homeschool my boys
9. Food in the cupboard
10. A roof over our heads

Hello, blog funk. How was your day yesterday?
Ok. I’m not going to write to some imaginary device.
Pinky swear.
Today’s Thanksgiving. I should be giving thanks for something instead of bitching.
I can do that.
Fine. I’ll play.
Thinks that I’m thankful for:
Tucker - Even though you have yet to guest blog, [hint, hint] you put up with my craziness and you know me better than I know myself.
Cara - The child I thought I would never have. Thank you for teaching me the beauty of motherhood and the art of breastfeeding. Thank you for making me a mom.
Oscar - Thank you for being a bad ass cat that puts up with Cara and the dogs.
Sophie and Beck - I’m thankful that you both have turned your breed’s stereotype on its head and that you’re such awesome dogs. I’m thankful everyday that you both watch out for Cara and me when Tucker’s at work.
Alana - Thank you for becoming such a dear friend to me. I thank you for listening to me piss an
Let's face it, Google has to trim down its PageRank regularly, or we'll have sites with more little green pixels than results on a page. If Google didn't finesse and stroke its public-facing PageRank a couple times each year, some sites would eventually have a PageRank of 862 by 2010.I'd really like to see a negative PageRank. Having a -1 to -10 scale would really give me something to work with. For instance, a PageRank of -8 would tell me that 80 percent of a particular site's backlinks are purchased or otherwise acquired. I would be thankful for saving a lot of time digging into backlinks.
I am thankful for Thankful Thursday - that it gave me the inspiration to be thankful each Thursday of the year and not just on Thanksgiving. Here's my posts all throughout the year :), all of them I am thankful for today...How can I say thanks? .... To God Be The Glory! For more thankful hearts, please visit Laurel Wreath here...
Since it's Thanksgiving, I'll take a step back and list things I'm thankful for as I'm fortunate not to have any real needs or wants (sap alert). Often, people are quick to dismiss the obvious such as health, family and home, but if you don't stop to appreciate those things, they may just slip through your hands. Then again, thirteen is a pretty long list, so I have some space for smaller pleasures. So without further ado, here are the things I am thankful for:My health - I try to respect my body by eating good foods and exercising and have been fortunate to be relatively healthy. Without this, I wouldn't be able to enjoy the rest of this list.My husband - Doug has always been supportive of me and our family and has taken on the crucial role of stay-at-home-dad and laundry king. Thanks Doug! Our kids - The most cherished gifts we could ask for. Of course they have their moments like Adam's refusal to eat anything I cook, or Dova's unwillingness to get dressed or clean up

Yes, it’s almost Thanksgiving and for me there’s a lot to be thankful for: my wife, daughter, family, friends, health, job, iPhone. Since tomorrow’s Thanksgiving I think it’s fitting to post a few stories about pets and animals that certainly have a lot to be thankful for. The first is a story about a young girl in the San Francisco Bay area who didn’t waste any time trying to help birds caught in the middle of an oil spill…
Haley Gee is only 9, but that’s old enough when it comes to fighting an oil spill. She grabbed a bucket and began asking friends, neighbors and classmates to give what they could. That was a week and a half ago. Now there’s a bird rehabilitation fund - and a surf scoter - named after her.
“I felt sorry for the birds because they didn’t do anything wrong,” the Berkeley girl said Tuesday.
She and five classmates at the Berkeley Montessori School, along with her 7-year-old sister, Lily, had just presented $450 they’d raised to the International Bird Rescue Research Center in Cordelia, which has been caring for birds soaked with oil since
Today I'm thankful for grapes and bananas. Grapes and bananas are wonderful fruits, but they, in and of themselves do not create the feelings of thankfulness and gratefulness that well up in my soul. It's not because they are luscious and succulent. It's not because they are naturally sweet and good for you at the same time. It's for other reasons.Grapes and bananas remind me of my kids. My kids love fruit, especially grapes and bananas. This morning, Zeke ate about 500 grapes and his diaper will show it in a few hours. His hair shows it now - a beautiful canvas of cheese mixed with fruit layered in his thick blond mop. Later, the canvas will end up in his diaper with a slightly darker shade. I'm not exactly thankful for dirty diapers, but I guess that's better than them never pooping at all and getting some kind of GI tract infection. That would not be good, but then again if it did happen, I'm thankful to live in a country where they could receive adequate health car

I just re-read my Thanksgiving post from last year, and I must say that little has changed about my attitude toward the holiday. Well, that isn't completely true. Over the past year, I have become increasingly adamant about the need to defend reason from the constant assaults from the religiously inclined. This has undoubtedly led to a shift in my attitudes about many topics. In this post, I will again examine Thanksgiving, focusing more on my present attitudes than last year's post which emphasized Thanksgivings past.I am generally content this year, and I take ownership for my role in this outcome. That is, my present contentment has far more to do with my hard work and my general state of mind than it does with any supernatural entity or even any other person. Granted, there are many people to whom I could extend a word of thanks simply because my contact with them has enriched my life. And yet, these are generally folks with whom I have some sort of reciprocal relationship. We ha
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving! Are you ready?
I’ve got a fun idea for anyone looking to do something creative tomorrow with family. It is a variation on my idea to make a picture book. Instead of just a picture book, make a photo book of everyone in your family for Thanksgiving. All you will need is a camera, some paper, and creativity.
You will need to take a photo of everyone you want in the book. You can make one of just your kids, or of everyone who shows up for Thanksgiving dinner. Once you have all the photos have them printed off. You can do it yourself if you have a photo printer or use an online service. Snapfish is my favorite for ordering photos. You can add Thanksgiving style to your photos from their site then have them mailed to you or order them to be printed off at your local Walgreens.
You will also need paper cut into medium sized leaves. You want the leaves large enough to write on, yet small enough that they do not cover the pages. Have each person write what t
The nation's highways and skies will once again be packed with holiday travelers undeterred by high gasoline prices and long lines at the airports. In California, 4.9 million people are expected to spend the long Thanksgiving weekend at least 50 miles from home, according to AAA of Northern California. That's a 1.3-percent increase over last year.Wednesday is traditionally the nation's busiest travel day of the year, with an estimated 38.7 million Americans set to up and go.
Why I Am Thankful
From the moment of creation when each of us became the specific person we are, endowed with our own uniqueness and incredible special gifts, we are indeed a most lucky person. We have beaten the tremendous odds in nature's selection process to become a person, to be alive. Who cannot be thankful for the opportunity to be alive?
If you are reading this blog, you, as I am, are greatly blessed. For there are so many who, while lucky to be alive, will never glimpse much less experience the privileged lives we lead with our computers, cell phones, cars, warm homes, plentiful food and with an abundance never known by previous generations.
I am grateful for what I have and have been given. To me the greatest gift of any parent is the one I have known and possessed all my days, that is unconditional love from my parents, siblings, extended family and close friends. I will be in the company of many of them over this Thanksgiving holiday weekend. For that too, I am
I've been photo/recipe posting for the last few days because I've been very sick. I caught yet another pre-school cold from Peanut last week, but mine turned into a respiratory infection as well. Previous posts about my reactive airways abound - all you have to do is type in "cough" in the search box down there - but I can't imagine that would interest anyone but me. But hey! Go nuts, if that's what floats your boat. I can actually be kind of amusing when I'm loaded up on narcotic cough syrup.Anyway - back to me. Sick, cranky, and out of it. I've done my usual routine - inhaler, prescription cough syrup - but I think I may squeak by without the steroids this time. In a way, that is a bummer, because I always get so much done whenever I go on them. But I'm glad to be feeling the teeniest bit better after sleeping for 6 hours today. We are going to my in-laws' house for Thanksgiving, so the hardest part of the day will simply be driving up there through all the traffic. Dr. V. ha
This morning I woke up to a world of incredible possibilities. I woke up to a morning with the sun piercing through the blinds and I was reminded of the mercies of the Lord that are renewed every day. I was reminded that I live in a country where I can worship freely.I was reminded that Christ wants all of me, and in so giving everything to Him, the possibilities are endless as to what He can do with a life fully committed to Him. I'm thankful for that. I'm thankful for His amazing gift of salvation - salvation that is completely undeserved or unmerited. I'm thankful that I don't have to earn it. I don't have to earn His attention either. I don't have to say, "Hey God, look down here and see what I'm trying to do for Your kingdom." Because He sees it anyway. And He could actually care less what I'm trying to do for Him. He wants me to stop trying and let Him do it. I'm thankful for that.I'm thankful that in His kingdom, it's not a competition. It's not God's I

This holiday finds me for the first time, in I don't know how long, with nowhere to go for the holiday; and I am thankful for that. In a blended family with parents that come from blended families, that is surely a rarity. Don't get me wrong, I love visiting my various family members, but sometimes it just gets so tiring. Anyway, that's not what I want to write about today. Today I want to write about why I am thankful to be a Christian. This is part of a Group Writing Project hosted by On the Horizon, The Next Step and Myself. There are so many reasons to be thanful to be a Christian, that I am at a loss as to where to start, so I'll start the same way I've learned to pray at times. Using my hand, I'll use each of the digits to pray for and be thanful for something today.Starting with my thumb, the digit closest to me, I am thankful that being a Christian means that I am blessed with a wonderful husband and four beautiful children. You may wonder, how does that relate to being th

It's so timely and so true. Thanks Karen and Bret. We miss you all so much.

Even when they are driving me batshit crazy, I'm so thankful for these two.I'm still sick and miserable, so a photo post will have to do for today. I'm loaded up on the prescription cough syrup, using my inhaler every 4 hours, and my ribs are killing me. Fun!
If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you may remember my job search, along with its stress, the questions, the uncertainties. I spent many an anxious afternoon wondering where’d I’d be over the next few months, job-wise. When I look back on that time now, I think how blessed I am to now have a job I really do love, a job I don’t dread going to, a job I don’t want to leave any time soon.
Specifically, I like my job because:
1. It’s a short commute.
2. It allows me to do what I always dreamed of doing: write.
3. It’s a career-building opportunity.
4. It’s more money than I expected.
5. I work with nice people.
6. I get to be creative.
7. I have a window view.
8. I got a raise 3 months into it.
9. My boss doesn’t micromanage.
10. It’s a specific, direct answer to prayer.

On Sunday October 28 a long stretch of the A83 was shut after a landslide, which occured at the Rest and be Thankful road, west of Loch Lomond. A total of 400 tons of soil and rock, loosened by several months of rainfall, tumbled down onto the road early that morning. The A83 is the major route from Glasgow to Kintyre and the isles of Islay and Jura. A diversion is in operation since that time (see map). Coming from Glasgow follow the A82 over Crianlarich, take the A85 direction Oban and continue on the A819 to Inveraray just outside Dalmally. This diversion will add 35 miles to your journey and most like more than one hour due to congestion of the A82 or A819. Latest news is that the road, a single lane, will re-open on Saturday 10 November 0800 hrs but will face some further closures. The Campbeltown Courier reported today about the Landslide and it looks like the works to secure the mountainside and cleaning up of the road can take longer than expected. I've been painting the sanctuary at our church the last several days....Total amount of time balancing on a high ladder: I think it had to have been around 20 hours.So. Last night when I got home... got the kids all tucked into bed. The only thing missing was a foot massager.Today, there is no school.
