Getting teens away from the cellphone is quite a battle for parents. Now according to a new study most teens suffer from sleep deprivation solely because of late night text messaging.
Text-messaging is contributing to sleep deprivation, said Cora Collette Breuner, a pediatrician at Children’s Hospital.“Most kids go to sleep with their phone plugged in right by their heads,” Breuner said. Every ping of an incoming message is a temptation to pick up the phone.”
This is backed up by a recent survey by Teenage Research Unlimited whose findings say that most teens communicate with their friends between midnight and 5 a.m. via cell phone or texting.
