It seems like this region just had to deal with Hurricane Gustav, and CNN is reporting that Hurricane Ike is closing fast on the Texas coast. Evacuations have been in full swing since yesterday. Now the National Weather Service is waring that Ike brings "certain death" to coastal areas around Galveston. FEMA is rightly concerned about some residents ignoring the warnings due to "hurricane fatigue.

Saints running back Reggie Bush wanted revenge on the team that passed him up for the number one pick in last year’s draft. Sunday in Houston the Texans wanted to prove, and did so, why they went with a different selection than the explosive Bush. The Texans defense, led by last years #1 pick Mario Williams, held Bush in check, and they went on to win their second straight, topping the Saints 23-10. Bush had just 34 yards on the ground, and caught 12 passes for 70 yards, but most were check downs that the Texans were able to get to before Bush could do anything with.
The Texans also had the pleasure of having two big starters back, as QB Matt Schaub played a solid game, going 21-for-33 for 293 yards with two TD’s and no picks. Wide out Andre Johnson was a playmaker once again, as he had 6 catches for 120 yards and a score, including a 73-yard score to start the scoring for the Texans, who trailed early 3-0 after a Olindo Mare 52-yard field goal three mintues into the gam
Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson will return to the lineup on Sunday when they go up against the Saints. He isn’t quite 100 percent, but that won’t stop him from seeing the field for the first time since Week 2. “As you go through the season, you’re never 100 percent, but I’m good enough to go out and play without any problems or anything like that,” he said. “I don’t think I’m limited in any way, so I’m good enough to go out and play.” Reported by Nick Scurfield, HoustonTexans.com

This is excellent news and couldn’t come at a better time, as Matt Schaub should be rested and ready to go as well. Hopefully they can pick up where they left off in week 2, especially with the fantasy playoffs right around the corner. Projections should be around 6 receptions for 70 yards and maybe a touchdown.

Texans WR Andre Johnson completed his first full week of team workouts, but the Pro Bowler who has been out since Week 2 will not suit up until Sunday, Nov. 18 when Texans face the New Orleans Saints. “He’s made a lot of progress this week,” HC Gary Kubiak said. “He’s practiced pretty darn good. He’s not 100 percent, but he’s close and the best thing for Andre is and for our football team is to make sure that he gets another 16 or 17 days of rest. He is not 100 percent yet, but he’s awful close and there’s no doubt he will there in two weeks”. Reported by Brooke Bentley, HoustonTexans.com

Jacoby Jones will be out two to three weeks with a separated shoulder. He started the first game of his career against the Colts, filling in for Andre Johnson, who is out with a knee sprain. Johnson will not return this week, either. Sunday was the first time he was allowed to bend his knee since suffering the sprain Sept. 16 against the Carolina Panthers. Johnson sprained the posterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in his left knee, and must wait until they both heal. Reported by Megan Manfull, Houston Chronicle
With WR Andre Johnson officially out of the lineup, HC Kubiak had to reconfigure his receiving corps. The head coach said Thursday that wideout Kevin Walter would get starting duties, but he waited until after Friday’s practice to choose a second starting receiver. Rookie Jacoby Jones will be the man for the job, lining up across from Walter. During the preseason, Jones flashed play-making brilliance with two punt return touchdowns. He has continued to be productive during the regular season, collecting 33 receiving yards in two games. Reported by HoustonTexans.com

The Colts rank 7th in the NFL against the pass giving up an average of 179.5 passing yards per game, and only 1 TD in the last 2 games. Schaub has been hot, but without Andre Johnson in the lineup, this looks like a bad match up for Texans WR’s.
Three days after spraining his knee, Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson said he doesn’t plan to play against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. He also added that he is not sure when he will be back in the starting lineup. This week will mark the fourth time in Johnson’s career that he has missed a start since being drafted in 2003. “If you look at me right now, no, I won’t be there out there Sunday,” Johnson said. “I’m taking it day-by-day, week-by-week.”
Texans now have an extra muscular tool to guard against identity theft.Under a new law that took effect Saturday, consumers can freeze their credit report without having to have a police report. When you freeze your credit report, a thief can't get credit in your name because the creditor can't check your credit history. Few lenders will lend you money without checking your credit report.Previously, Texans couldn't freeze their credit reports unless they were victims of identity theft, which was ridiculous – you had to wait for a crime to occur before you could take steps to protect yourself. Now, Texas joins 34 other states that allow consumers to freeze their reports without first having to be victims of identity theft. It's about time. In a moment of tenderness, Houston Texans owner Bob McNair said on Tuesday that he will welcome current Dallas Cowboys fans into his Houston family with open arms. To entice fans of one of the most beloved; successful franchises to jump ship, McNair has put out a clemency offer urging fans to bring their Cowboys jersey in to the team store at Reliant Stadium in exchange for a $15 discount on a Houston Texans jersey."This gives all Houstonians the opportunity to become Texans," McNair said with a laugh. "Going into the new season, we want to create a home-field advantage and a regional advantage, too. This is a great chance for fans to get behind what promises to be an exciting season."What promises to be an exciting season?? Yeah, in the same way that a towering inferno of death is exciting. If Mr. McNair would've -- I dunno -- drafted one of the game's best playmakers in Reggie Bush, he wouldn't have to rely on such ludicrous offers to peddle his team's rags.Related:Texans owner M
Were the Dallas Cowboys in a state of decline Saturday night in their 28-16 loss against the Houston Texans, or was this a case of the Texans improving gradually? The returns seem to be mixed; Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was mediocre, going 14-for-22 for 197 yards with 2 touchdowns and one pick. But he also fumbled some snaps under center and underthrew some wide receivers. The team had other issues Saturday night as well; they had difficulty running the ball, got flagged for seven penalties and even missed a PAT.
The Cowboys defense, while outstanding thus far, allowed 142 yards rushing against the Texans, while the first team allowed 2 touchdowns. They also allowed Texans QB Matt Schaub perhaps look better than he really was. One would think that the Cowboys simply weren’t on the same page last night; but again, the Texans again put on an impressive display of offense against what is considered to be one of the top defenses in the NFL.
I submit that it i
The Houston Texans have continued to look to upgrade their wide out core, and one player that just hit the market that could help out is now former Packer Robert Ferguson. The relationship between the Texans and Ferguson comes from the fact that former Packers coach and GM Mike Sherman is the offensive coordinator. Sherman had a hand in the Pack grabbing Ferguson over Chris Chambers in the second round back in the 2001 draft.
Ferguson also keeps an off-season home in Houston, so he might be willing to take a bit of a pay cut in order to play in his off-season home. Right now Ferguson makes $1.8 million, so it is almost a certain that wherever he ends up, he will be forced to take a pay cut. The Texans picked up in the offseason Bethel Johnson and Keenan McCardell, but have no real gamebreakers other than Andre Johnson. The team also released Eric Moulds in the offseason, who then signed with the Titans.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy said that Ferguson got caught up in the numbers o

The Houston Texans have signed unrestricted free-agent wide receiver Keenan McCardell (San Diego Chargers). McCardell played last season with the Chargers, recording 36 receptions for 437 receiving yards, but zero touchdowns. He missed two games last season because of a calf injury. San Diego released McCardell in early March.
Houston will use McCardell as a starter opposite Pro-Bowl wide receiver Andre Johnson. Wide receivers Kevin Walter and Bethel Johnson were two options for the starting job before the team inked McCardell. Does he have the wheels to continue playing? His days as a productive receiver have long been over, and the No. 2 in the Houston offense has been unable to produce quality numbers. Last season, WR Eric Moulds caught 57 passes for 557 yards, scoring only one touchdown for Houston in that role.
As he will likely be starting for the Texans, don’t think McCardell will be keeping the double-teams away from former Hurricane standout Andre Johnson. At the
Schaub has already ingratiated himself to the Texans’ veterans, most notably the Pro Bowl receiver Andre Johnson, by spending the spring and summer working out with his teammates. “I’ve been impressed with the way he handles himself,” Coach Gary Kubiak said. “That’s a lot to handle. You go and make a trade like that for a kid and the pressure to come in here and take over this football team is great, but he’s handled himself tremendously this off-season. He’s been a great worker, very confident kid about his opportunity and what he’s fixing to go take on.” Reported by Associated Press, NY Times
The Texans signed former Texas A&M wide receiver Bethel Johnson to a one-year, $650,000 deal Monday and will probably try to make the roster as a kick returner.

Very little fantasy impact here. As mentioned, Johnson’s best season as a receiver included 209 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns in his rookie season.
HOUSTON — Receiver Bethel Johnson and linebacker Zac Woodfin signed one-year contracts with the Houston Texans on Monday. Johnson caught nine passes for 156 yards for the Minnesota Vikings last season. He played for the New England Patriots from 2003-05. The 28-year-old Johnson averaged 24.6 yards on 147 career kickoff returns, including two touchdowns of 90-plus yards. He has four touchdown receptions. It looks as if the Houston Texans have a new wide reciever in the fold, as Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that the team has signed free-agent receiver Bethel Johnson to a one-year deal. Johnson will help out a wide out core that released vet Eric Moulds in the offseason, and he could compete with Kevin Walter for a starting job opposite Pro Bowler Andre Johnson. Johnson was with two teams last season, the Saints and the Vikings, and then this offseason was with Philly before being let go in March.
Last season was a rocky one for Johnson, as he was traded from the Pats to the Saints, then went to the Vikings, where he caught 9 passes for 156 yards. After not being resigned by the Vikings, he went to Philly, but his time with the Eagles was short. Johnson was a second-round pick of the Patriots back in 2003 out of Texas A&M. If he can show some potential, he should fit in nicely with the Texans, who were even giving long time wide out Keenan McCardell a look recently at co
