I’ve just finished doing my online shopping with Tesco and once again I felt a bit saddened as I pressed the ‘order’ button. I really don’t like shopping with them, or any of the other supermarket giants for that matter, but needs must. I’m just not able to get around the shops easily enough to do my shopping at the market and in local, independent stores so Tesco it is.

After sicing the lawyers on Thai critics, Tesco is now suing the Guardian for having the temerity to discuss their tax arrangements. The St Albans Stop Tesco Group says it all:As we've said before about Tesco, and this applies just as much to its ongoing other libel suit in Tesco (here's the latest news on this), the issue for us isn't so much what Tesco does - it is the fact that it can afford to spend money on legal writs and tax avoidance that smaller shops can't.Local newsagents, grocers and market traders would love to reduce their tax demands by using overseas companies and hiring expensive tax experts - but they can't afford to. Tesco can, and can then use the tax savings to both improve its massive profits, and cut prices to drive local competitors out of business. So there goes any
I had high hopes for this one...ready-made tomato soup with no added sugar and available in small, one person/portion-sized cartons (300 g). London, England (ThaLunatic Daily) -- Tesco, a well known British discount store giant, has sparked outrage by marketing a new "bust boosting" bra for 7 year old girls. The "Bust Booster", has been stocked right alongside other clothing items that are targeted for 7 to 8 year pre-teens. The bra design uses a plunge style that is typically utilized to maximize the visibility of cleavage. The bra is also padded in such a way to act similarly to a "push up" and maximize the breast's apparent size.Parents and industry experts have voiced outraged over the bra. It has been criticized as being highly inappropriate for girls as young as 7, because most girls that age haven't even begun developing breasts.A National Union of Teachers spokesperson rejected the idea of the bra, stating "There

The Spice Girls commercial for Christmas 2007. It is like they don't actually want to be SEEN shopping in this store...lol. Those Spice Girls are everywhere!! Watch video of their newest commercial for supermarket chain Tesco after the jump.
I must say, I did enjoy it. I thought it was quite funny. Tesco paid the Spice Girls $2 million dollars each to appear in their advertising campaign and it’s been rumored that they will sponsor their Reunion tour.
In the commercial, each of the Spice Girls - Victoria Beckham, Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown, Gerri Halliwell, and Emma Bunton, are seen trying to hide from one another as they’re all in the Tesco store buying Christmas presents for each other.
See the video of the Spice Girls in the Tesco commercial below.

Este es el primer anuncio televisivo de la campaña de Navidad de Tesco, protagonizada por Spice Spice Girls. ¡ Me encanta!¿Qué te parece a tí?This is the first TV ad from the Tesco's X-mas advertising campaign, starred by Spice Girls. I looove it! What do you think?
There's a Tesco store at Narodni trida street. It has a grocery store underneath. And when you take the escalator to get up above the ground, this is the exact view you will see. I had to take a picture. It felt so... Christmas :)
This is mad but saying that great for Christmas.
It has been reported that Tesco has been advertising a deal to beat them all on its website, offering an Xbox 360 hardware bundle for the knock-down price of just £33.24. Tesco.com deal featured an Xbox 360 console, a wireless control pad and games Forza Motorsport 2 and Viva Pinata. How great does that sound but one minute it had to be too good to be true.
The offer as now been removed and is said that it was an administrative error.
Tesco has refused to comment on whether they will honour those who ordered the bundle at the advertised price, but a spokesman from Trading Standards said that “If a consumer orders goods, the trader accepts the order and the price is agreed, but later the trader says the price has gone up, the consumer should only have to pay the price given at the time the order was placed.”
Its said that in the Tesco terms and conditions it states that “If, by mistake, we have under-priced an item,
You may know Fi and I ordered X-box 360’s, in good faith, from Tesco online for the princely sum of £35. It would appear that there may be a loophole in how tesco direct works.
Every so often they spider their competitors websites extracting the prices of the stuff they sell. If they find a competitors selling it cheaper they take 1p off the price and then lower the price a further 5% to make them competitive (from what I can find out online). It would appear that yesterday Virgin accidentally dropped some prices on the site – the x-box 360 one was live on the site for around an hour, it would appear that tesco were served with a number of incorrect prices during this period!
This led to Tesco dynamically pricing and advertising x-box 360’s for about £35.
So if any anyone ever wants a similar system developed – as they’re quite common these days - remember they’ll need to put a minimum price on each item – so if a competitor gets wise (accidentally messes up the
As the Tesco war machine marches on Argos, spear-heading the attack is Martine “Does my bum look big in this. Yes because it’s huge” McCutcheon. Oh, and that bloke from Spooks.
Martine spent many years in Eastenders, playing Judy to Ross Kemp’s Punch. And thankfully, she didn’t waste her time in the company of the master. She spent those days polishing her acting skills until she got a shine on them much like you get on the proverbial turd. Only slightly duller.
Where as Kemp’s acting is cardboard cutout, McCutcheon’s is full on wooden.
When faced with a particularly challenging scene, she draws inspiration from an alter-ego she has created called Marine McButtcheek - a failed actress and singer on the slag-heap of life - which nearly always manifests itself as a huge wooden arse on legs, topped off with a pearly white rictus smile. The desire never to become Marine produces some of Martine’s finest work.
And so it is in the latest adver
Spice Girls Fever is here already even though the tour didn't begin yet, there are still 5 weeks to go... This is the first X-mas picture the five spice girls did for Tesco, as part of the Christmas advertising campaign. We'll probably see some more, on top of the two TV spots in which our quintet is going to discuss about what to prepare for the X-mas dinner.
Spice Girls have signed up as the new faces of supermarket giant Tesco. “We are thrilled to be working with the Spice Girls for our Christmas campaign,” said a Tesco spokesman.
“We feel that the new commercials really emphasise Tesco’s commitment to offer something different and exciting this Christmas.”
The girls had filmed a new festive advert for the company which is said to give viewers a “glimpse into what Christmas with the Spice Girls might be like”.
The Sun newspaper claimed that Victoria Adams, Melanie Brown, Melanie C, Geri Halliwell, and Emma Bunton have each made £1million each for Tesco TV ad.

Tesco: The British Are Coming!
By Holmes Osborne, CFA
August 3, 2007
Bangers and mash, anyone? British supermarket behemoth Tesco is
making its foray into the U.S. this fall, with a grand opening in Los
Angeles and other western cities. Under the banner Fresh & Easy,
the 10,000-square-foot stores will cater to health-conscious shoppers,
people on the go, and a variety of budgets. Investors may want to take
a closer look.
Downtown Los Angeles -- once known for its poverty, but now booming
with the development of lofts -- will host one of the first stores. The
nearest competing supermarket will be several miles away.
While most markets carry up to 10,000 items, Fresh & Easy will
offer only about 3,000. Its focus will be on healthy foods and prepared
meals for busy people. How healthy? According to a Barron's article, the stores won't even carry cigarettes.
Every time I go to the UK, I fall in love with Tesco all over again. All those tasty and cheap and sorta kinda healthy pre-made sandwiches… Mmm mmm good. But Tesco is good for more than sandwiches...
Tesco today scrapped plans to sell retail offset packages. The supermarket giant’s reason was that the public seems to have become disenchanted with offsets – partly due to scepticism about the quality of non-regulated schemes, and partly because many campaign groups now flatly oppose offsetting on moral grounds. The industry is portrayed as a bunch of sleazy profiteers, and Tesco does not want that brand risk.
Tesco’s decision does not reflect an industry facing imminent extinction. In fact, it is just getting started. Last month Carbonpositive reported record trading volumes on voluntary emissions credit exchanges. These sales feed the retail and non-regulated wholesale markets and demonstrate that more people are still choosing to buy offsets.
But the main reason why offsets purchased in the West will continue to fund projects across the world is the growth of the regulated market. As new industries are brought into the European Trading Scheme, the growth in the market for cre

So, my new favourite hot buy – has to be a glamorous, well fitting, well made pea-jacket from Tesco’s Florence and Fred Collection. It is
- a gorgeous scarlet red and the thick wool feels much better quality than you would guess from its £35 price tag.
- fitted enough to give a shape, but loose enough to be worn comfortably over a jumper or layers.
- long enough to be warm and snug, but not so long that it will seat when worn in the car or on the train.
- smart enough to wear in town, but casual enough to wear to watch the Arsenal !
I love it.

Last week, Giant Hypermarket opened their 100th branch in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong. It’s situated just less than 1km away from our house. Very near however during its opening day on 23rd August 2007, it took me more than 2 hours to get out from their parking lot to our home!!
Since, Tesco Puchong is just about 5 km from there; we can assure stiff competition between those 2 hypermarkets.
The first sign for the battle of supremacy is the signboard;
You can see this Tesco Puchong signboard at Bukit Jalil (Sg. Besi/Puchong) highway. It’s trying tell you that Tesco Puchong is just 5.7km away.
After you drive for another 100m, you can see another signboard. This time from Giant Bandar Kinrara. It says why travel 5.6km when theres another hypermarket just a hundred km away…

A price war has broken out in the UK today, with Tesco being the major player. This comes as the biggest supermarket chain starts a major new television campaign with an estimated cost of around £4 ($8) million.
The camping will show how Tesco have implemented a “Price Check” system where 10,000 products are compared with in price with the other large supermarket chains. This has come about because of the claims made by other stores that they are cheaper.
The management of Tesco admit that they have been looking at other matters such Green issues and quality control, so does this mean that Tesco will be concentrating on price and only price, leaving green and quality matters up to the other brands?
Consumers are different when dealing with different products and services. Green and Eco Friendly matters are a top priority when buying certain things, but when it comes to grocery shopping, that all goes out of the window and it is price that matters. Or does it?

Last night, my Internet clicked off suddenly. I wasn’t best pleased, I was doing “Post Website Redesign Promotion/Catching up”, and really could not be dealing with the hassle of no Internet. Thank you very much Tesco.net. Rather than do something productive to help alleviate the stress of no Internet and shout at a poor excuse of a technician down the phone, I booted up my SNES emulator, and played the game I downloaded a few nights ago, Super Mario All Stars.
Specifically, Super Mario Brothers 3.
This game was the holy grail of my childhood, the game that was worth 3 games to swap, and I used to go to my mates houses who had Nintendo’s and watch them play, I was that in love with it. Eventually, I got a NES quite late on in the product’s lifespan, and I always rated Super Mario Brothers 3 the best of the games, the sheer brilliance of the level design (Fire Mario melted Ice in Ice Land, making fire flowers useful, rather than pointless compared to a Flying

The Telegraph had a really interesting article about Tesco and their so-called(?!) green initiatives. They claim Tesco has been dressing up all their recent initiative as green, but in reality it is all about appearance.
I feel Tesco is certainly not the only company guilty of this!!
The Telegraph writes
Is it just me that’s getting irritated by Tesco’s desire to dress up everything they do as a new eco-initiative? Its latest piece of conspicuous greenery is the agreed takeover of Dobbies Garden Centres - “an important part of our strategy to provide customers with greater access to affordable energy saving and environmental products”.
Yes, growing consumer awareness of green issues and our desire to be part of the solution is a commercial opportunity. Tesco has seen the way the wind is blowing as quickly as any retailer, but the deal stacks up without the wind turbines so why not tell it like it is?

Tesco, the British equivalent to Wal-Mart, has recently decided it, too, needs to go green!
Climare Change Corp. writes
Tesco’s latest corporate responsibility review outlines the key aims of the born-again supermarket. These include adopting a number of measures to become climate-friendly. They have landmark plans, such as building renewables on-site, launching a £100 million climate technologies fund, and carbon labelling goods in store.
Tesco’s new climate friendly policies not only give the supermarket a new look, they also fall neatly in line with recently announced plans by the UK government to include supermarkets in the emissions trading scheme and encourage a carbon labelling scheme into place, which may one day be mandatory. Alongside this sits planned EU legislation to ban HFC fridges.
Tesco outlined goals like cutting energy use by 50% per square foot, investing £500 million into green renovations and research, £100 million to researching and developing low-carbon t

Call me old-fashioned but I consider this product to overstep the boundry of what a regular grocery retailer should offer. Tesco have recently diversified themselves into both financial and legal services, and have released a "Do-It-Yourself" Divorce and seperation, boasting "Our DIY kits provide all the background information, help guides and blank forms you'll need to handle important legal issues confidently". The kit itself is packed with the forms and advice you need to conduct your divorce, where appropriate without the expense of a solicitor. Plus, a free CD-Rom containing essential divorce forms. I personally don't see the idea of a Tesco brand divorce taking off, there just seems to be a bit of conflict between the brand image of a supermarket and the seriousness of a Marraige breakdown.
Tesco is looking for a bright, energetic and well-rounded support professional for the position of:
