Some of the survivors of the shipwreck were Maltese dogs that mated with the local terriers, creating a new and unique

      Kerry Blue Terrier
.Breed History..The Kerry Blue terrier was first observed in the mountains of County Kerry in Ireland, hence the name of the breed. There is a romantic story of a blue dog swimming ashore from a shipwreck: the coat of this dog was so lovely that it was mated with all the female Wheaten Terriers in Kerry (or in all Ireland according to some), producing the Kerry Blue. Perhaps this story is not entirely myth as the Portuguese Water Dog is often suggested as part of the Kerry's make up. Others suggest the Kerry was produced by the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier crossed with the Bedlington Terrier with (or without) some Irish Wolfhound or Irish Terrier blood. The extinct Gadhar herding dog is also mentioned as another possible branch of the Kerry's family tree. One certain fact is the breed becam

      American Pit Bull Terrier Temperament
American Pit Bull Terrier(APBT) can be very sweet, curious, intelligent, and clownish. They are noted for their outgoing, affectionate, eager-to-please disposition and their fondness for people, and when raised with a firm but fair hand can make a wonderful family pet. APBTs can also be stubborn, pushy, and prone to display aggression towards other dogs. They are not a good choice of dog for a novice dog owner. American Temperament Test Society, Inc. breed statistics as of December 2005 show an 83.5% passing rate for the APBT as compared to an 81.2% overall pass rate for all the different breeds they test, showing that many of these dogs have stable and dependable temperaments. However, a firm, even hand and early obedience training are musts for this breed. Inexperienced owners tend to find them to be too much to handle - APBTs can be quite “bouncy!” They generally have a lot of energy and high prey drive; they need exercise and stimulation in order to channel that energ

Although it is often said that they are disobedient, this is not the case provided correct training is applied. They are excellent with children and make wonderful family dogs. These are working dogs and are still used as such in parts of Scotland. Like most terriers, they require large amounts of exercise. Cairn Terriers are very independent and do not make good “lap dogs”. The image of Cairn Terriers being like “Toto” from the Wizard of Oz is a partial misconception. Daily Painting Illustration, "Merrier Terrier"
"Merrier Terrier"6X6Acrylic on PaperThe last of the four dogs. Whew. I think the most fun part of this was figuring out how to make the four balls different and yet a design to go with each dog's breed. Not sure I succeeded at this. and this guy doesn't look as "Merrier" as I think of him. I think all of them actually look as if they are waiting patiently for someone to come and get that ball rolling. Anyway....sometimes you just have to get something out of your system. I did.
