I came across a short-sale listing today at the Peninsula in Aventura. It is a 3 bedroom/3 bath Penthouse condo with 3,400 square feet of interior space and a large 600 square foot private rooftop terrace. The views look simply amazing! It is listed at $1,149,000, or $338 per square foot.  The current owners paid $1,330,000 for this Penthouse condo in February of 2006. I haven’t visited this unit in person but the unit looks to be in very good shape judging by the pictures included with the MLS listing. It also appears to be vacant. The unit has its own private elevator and comes with marble floors. Peninsula was built in 2003 and is considered by many to be one of the best buildings in Aventura.

Today was a typical end of summer day in Amsterdam. Warm when the sun shines and needing a coat when the clouds come. And in Holland there are a lot of clouds! We decided today to go out of the center and go to the adjacent De Pijp area. Walking down the Albert Cuyp market there, half way we got fed up and spotted a new thing where Ralph’s Asian Wonderfood used to be. Now we had been to Ralph’s one time and the only wonderful thing about the food was the lack of flavor. So time to try the new place. The place was called Flamingo and although with that name you would think they would put a fake plastic flamingo somewhere, I couldn’t spot it. We took a place at the terrace though, so it could have been hiding inside. Flamingo is located on one of the busiest places in De Pijp making it a nice place to sit and watch all the people go by. My top ten list about my newly found roof terrace. :)1) You have sun from early morning until late evening (unless it is cloudy of course)2) It is pretty much bugs fee beacuse it is so high up3) You have a 360 degree view of stockholm4) You can sunbathe nude if you feel like it5) Hardly anybody is ever there so you can be there by yourself most of the time6) No disturbing people or kids around you that keep screaming in you ear.7) In the wintertime you can go up there and make a snowman8) As it is so high up you will usually feel a breeze and you won´t get too sweaty9) It is so close to home so if you are tight on time you can still easily get up there and get some sun.10) I can take silly pictures without anybody seeing me. :)

I made a great finding the other day. We have a roof tearrace in our house!! Imagine how happy I got as I don´t have a balcony or anyhting, but now I can sit on the roof, with a view of the whole Stockholm, do some painting, do some reading, do some sunbathing or whatever else I want. An enormous landslide occured this past Monday on Highway 16 East of Terrace and perhaps 160 km west of my hometown of Smithers. It is reported that the slide is 40 feet deep and about 150 feet wide. The highway will be closed for several days as geologists survey the area before workers can frantically work to clear the debris.A forestry road in the Nass Valley may be used as an alternate.This slide is the first of perhaps a few more to come. There still must be about 13-15 feet or more of snow in the mountains here. With the forecast calling for 25 degrees celsius and higher for the weekend, the threat of flooding will rear it's ugly head by next week. It could be a massive problem here.
