I haven't provided any updates on my tennis progress because I haven't been doing very well. I start off OK and usually win my doubles games, but my serve has been terrible and by the time I've played my two doubles games I'm stuffed and that's when I have to front up for my singles game. Most of my opponents are heaps younger than me so they usually run me into the ground.

If you want to emulate the powerfully impressive style of play by world No.2 Rafael Nadal, try training on one leg. Top tennis trainer Paul Gold explains Who wouldn't want to be like Rafael Nadal? His muscle-bound physique and awesome talent with a tennis racket means he looks the part and plays the part of a player ranked No.2 in the world. It's hardly surprising therefore that many players are hitting the gym in a quest to emulate their Spanish hero. Modern tennis is, after all, all about power ' power of movement, power of shot and power of thought ' and Nadal is an undisputed world-class powerhouse in all of these departments. It's clear that the stronger you are the greater the intensity at which you can perform and the less risk you face of injury. But can you be too strong? Could th
Roger Federer the swiss tennis player has it all. Federer is possibly the best player yet; the ever going rivalry with Nadal, the desire for the French Open title the only Grand Slam he has not conquered definitely keep the worlds No. 1 motivated and confident.Every athlete knows very well that motivation is the key to success and a tennis player without confidence and the drive becomes obsolete and his/her accomplishments drop to the side. The majority of the tennis audience considers Roger Federer has accomplished most of what the sport of tennis has to offer. Federer has been the world No.1 for the last four years and he has won twelve Grand Slams, he has developed himself a legend and basically he is considered by other tennis greatest as the best player in the history of sport tennis.

From its beginnings in France in the 17th century to its development as lawn tennis in England in the 19th century, tennis has come a long way from its beginnings. An integral part of the game of lawn tennis is the opening serve. What used to be a simple game requisite to be able to put the ball in play has evolved into a skill that needs to be mastered by every player in order to win a point, at once! In today's tennis games, the serve is not simply to get the ball in play - it has become a sort of artillery barrage that the receiver either survives (makes a return) or not - an ace and a point for the server! From a plain and simple part of the game to get the ball into play, the service gained utmost importance as a quick point winner and as a way to establish domination of a match in wh

In playing tennis, knowing how to lose with a smile like an ideal sportsman is of great consequence. This is the primary and most remarkable law of tennis all tennis players should adhere to, while the second law is to win in a humble and generous manner without gloating over your opponent's loss. Although the object of playing a tennis match is ultimately to win, it should be in a manner that is fair and square not only in the eyes of the players but also those of the spectators. If you win a tennis match unfairly, everybody else would consider it as a defeat since the victory falls short of the ideals of the game. But even if you lose and you gave your best in playing the game, your opponent's victory is considered as a victory of the better man - better prepared in terms of physical, me

With so many "experts" claiming to have the latest, greatest insider information, it is hard for new and old players alike to know where to find a reliable tennis tip when needed. However, the popularity of the sport virtually ensures that anyone looking for help can find it -- if they look in the right places. Taking time to consider options will ensure that ambitious players don't utilize the wrong information from the wrong sources. Friends Okay, so they offer great relationship advice, and even recommend that great Chinese restaurant across town. However, they may not be the greatest source of information on the court. Why? First of all, friends are more likely to relay what works for them, and not necessarily what may work for others. While friends on the court may offer some realisti
Most tennis balls simply end up in the garbage when they stop being useful on the court. But they actually have many other useful purposes. You can:
1) Cut an X in the top of each ball and put them on the bottoms of chair legs to cut down on noise and floor scuffs. If you don’t have scuffable floors, many schools take donations for just this purpose.
2) Donate them to a local nursing home for use on residents’ walkers. They make the walkers easier to push around for people who aren’t strong enough to lift them.
3) Hang one on string from the garage roof to help you park without running into things. When it touches the windshield or rear window, you know it’s time to stop.
4) Keep certain types of gnats or flies away from you when you are outdoors. Just cover a tennis ball in Vaseli
If you are seriously interested in taking up tennis as a way to keep yourself fit and healthy, as a weekend sport or for whatever reason at all, here are some fundamental tips that can serve as a guideline for your enjoyment and success at your chosen sport. 1.Equip yourself with the best tennis gear that suits your playing style. Before going off to buy what takes your fancy, ask for advice from local tennis club pro as to what type of racquet is suited for you, the grip size, the weight and balance. Only then should you invest in the proper equipment, and when you do, get the best of the type that's right for you! Doing so ensures your enjoyment of the game and save you from changing your racquet once too often. Don't forget to buy the proper tennis attire - socks, tennis shoes, shirts,

Russian tennis star Anna Kournikova first discovered tennis when she was five years old. After six years of practice in her native Moscow, Russia, she became more serious about the sport and moved to Florida at age 11 to learn at famed tennis coach Nick Bollettieri’s Tennis Academy. As her skills increased, she excelled on the junior circuit. Winning both the European Championships and Italian Open, she entered the pro ranks in 1996 as the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior World Champion..Her pro career has had its ups and downs, and after nagging back injuries Kournikova has all but given up professional tennis. After a promising start to her career, she never won a pro singles tournament but managed a consistent top-20 ranking. She did, however, excel on the doubles circuit.
Those wanting to learn how to play tennis often find themselves overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information to learn. After all, the scoring system is bizarre, the terms tricky, and the technique difficult. However, players of all shapes, sizes, income levels, and athletic ability can learn this traditional game if they invest just a little time and energy. Success, however, lies in understanding its key elements. Basics Anyone interested in playing has to first understand a few basics of the game, lest they be completely confused. First, the object of tennis is to keep the ball in motion once it is served, preventing the opponent from doing the same. Put simply, try to hit the ball over the net in such a way that your opponent can't do the same. Scoring This is where the game becomes c

Tony Blair must be some kind of rotten chum to his friends. When the going gets tough, let them hang out to dry. When they fight back, call them liars. It's all a bit pot calling the kettle black. Blair's been dissembling since his schooldays. It seems to be an inherent character trait. Those at Fettes with him felt a sensible distance was required at times, otherwise they too could be hauled up in front of the Headmaster. Gordon Brown came to believe that he couldn't trust Blair's integrity. No doubt, Blair felt likewise. It had long gone past the point where the dog was chasing its tail. The tail had a life of its own!Blair first got to be friends with Michael Levy at a Jewish fundraising dinner party in 1994 and they eventually ended up as tennis partners. Levy is better known now as Lo
Diamonds were not discovered until around 800BC in India, whereby this precious gem was believed to have possessed magical powers. Societies were more impressed by its strength and hardness; hence its name was derived from the Greek 'adamas' meaning unconquerable. This made it the best choice in engagement rings; however, they were not as widely available back then as they are now.The first recorded engagement ring to be given to a woman was to Mary of Burgundy by the Archduke of Maximilian of Hamburg in 1477. Prior to this, it was relatively unheard of to give diamond rings as a symbol of engagement. The renaissance era had seen single set diamond rings in its natural form set on gold ring bands. It was not until the eighteenth century of when diamonds had made its way to Brazil, which ma
Despite our enthusiasm (and the enthusiasm of Sega fanboys everywhere) over Sega Superstars Tennis, a release that drips with fan service, the game failed to inspire consumers to rush out and buy the game like they did with Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games? Not enough Mario, perhaps? Or olympics?Whatever the case, slow sales for the tennis title has given GameStop early cause to slash its prices for Sega Superstars Tennis across all platforms, and you can now buy the Wii game for as little as $19.99. It's a great bargain, considering the game was released only a month ago! Table tennis, also known as Ping Pong is a sport that can be played indoors and outdoors as long as the designated table divided by a net is present and outdoor conditions are ideal to play. But generally, table tennis is an indoor sport. The basics of the game involve two or four players hitting a ball back and forth to each with the use of paddles. If you have seen a professional table tennis match you'll be awed by the quick reflexes the players have. Sometimes you can't even follow the ball's movement due to the fast plays. Expert players can even hit the ball in such a way that it creates a spin to the ball which makes the bounce hard to predict. But these professional athletes have such quick reflexes that they have quick reaction time allowing them to confidently hit and return the

Tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis, is a common elbow injury of racket sport players and manual laborers. Tennis elbow is an overuse injury resulting from the performance of repetitive motions with the hand and forearm, such as swinging a tennis racket or a hammer. Such repetitive motions can cause inflammation of the muscles of the forearm. The symptoms of tennis elbow include pain, soreness, and weakness in the muscles on the outside of the forearm. The treatment of tennis elbow is usually conservative, relying on rest, ice, and anti-inflammatory medication. When attempting to diagnosis tennis elbow, a doctor or physical therapist will test for tenderness on or near the bony knob of the elbow joint. Pain that increases when bending the wrist back is also indicative of tennis elbow. T

I recently delved into some research about a 2-day certification course I will be attending that helps high school level and junior athletes discover what it is they really want to get out of the sports they are playing, and how to help them train to attain the goals that they set for themselves. One of the trainers said, "The problem that most of our students have in sticking to a training program is that they focus on the process instead of the reward." I had written an article on this very subject two years earlier, and found it fascinating that the same exact 'truth' would rear it's head again. (That's the way it goes with the truth - it will always cut through and define problems and point to solutions with extreme clarity.) Anyway, I would like to give you an example of what this tr

Professional coaching can do a world of good for any player whether he is a professional himself or has just started as an amateur. This is true for all sports and tennis is no exception. This sport has gained a lot of popularity in the recent past and a lot of people have taken it up as a hobby and some even as a career. Tennis lessons can be a great help for all the enthusiasts of this sport, be it a beginner who wants to learn to play tennis or a person who wants to improve the skills of his game. Many parents have chosen to enroll their wards for these lessons since on one hand it helps them to stay fit and at the same time, they can work towards making this sport as a career. Since there is a scope for continuous improvement even for a professional, tennis lessons can be of help for o
Could it be Anorexia?? or could it be Pregnancy? OK these are my speculations — Six-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams will be sidelined indefinitely, though she did not say why she will be out of action.
"I've just been having some issues that I need to resolve, so I'm working on that at the moment and I'm hoping to be back playing as soon as possible," Williams said Tuesday at the Bausch & Lomb Championships. "I'm not going to get any further into it, but of course I love the sport."
Williams said last week she was dealing with a medical issue when she announced her withdrawal from the Bausch & Lomb tournament. She played last week in the Sony Ericsson Open, losing to Svetlana Kuznetsova in the quarterfinals. (Click Now)

Everybody knows that the tennis serve is a very important shot but how many club players have a really good tennis serve? Let's be honest if the Roddick tennis serve wasn't a very powerful tennis serve, his ranking would be a whole lot lower. But what can you do to improve your tennis serve? Is there a way to the perfect tennis serve? Is there a way to get a faster tennis serve? Well for the people still struggling with their delivery there is one main word that they should be looking to improve - THROW! Yes that's it, there is a direct relationship between someone's throwing ability and their serving ability and that's a fact - do not forget that. The fact remains that far too many people miss this point and do all the wrong things when trying to improve and even learn the serve and that

How to improve your tennis skill As we know that every tennis players are always try to improve their skills. However, there are only few of them are successful. This is because most of tennis player do not have a qualified trainer or someone who has enough experience on tennis to look and observe you during your play.
